  • ActiveX is the general name for a set of Microsoft Technologies that allows users to re-use code and link individual programs together to suit their computing needs. In addition ActiveX technology Provides a standard model for interapplication communication that different programming language. ActiveX is based on COM(Component Object Model), the COM standard allow developer to create code and application from a multitude of different languages and build a defined interface to that code, making it easily accessible by other application. By using ActiveX, user can access the functionality of other applications running remote computer distributed through the network and communicate over the network to build distributed applications. LabVIEW provides access to other Windows applications using ActiveX technologies. So in this paper we implement distributed application using ActiveX technology for remote control and monitoring.

  • In this study, the piezoelectric fan cooling system is investigated. In order to find the proper geometry and configuration, the numerical model for the flow field and heat transfer investigation is used. A simplified nonlinear deformation model is employed for transient solutions of a piezoelectric fan with the dynamic mesh and user defined function capability. The results show that the cooling is most effective when the length of a piezoelectric fan is 5 cm and the cooling plate is 3 cm. The results can be used to develop a new design method of heat sink for piezoelectric fans.

  • In this study, pre-processor code based on structural behavior of coal is applied to predict yields, pyrolysis rate and compositions of volatile and char. These parameters are used in the devolatilization and char burnout sub-models as user-defined functions of commercial CFD code. The predicted characteristics of these sub-models are compared with those employing the conventional model based on experiment and validated against the measurement of a 2.1 MW swirling pulverized coal flame in a semi-industrial scale furnace. And the influence of the turbulence-chemistry interaction on pulverized coal combustion is analyzed.

  • This paper presents a simple modeling system that constructs 3D models from an indoor cylindrical environment map using all of the available geometry of the interior structure such as vertical and horizontal lines and parallel and perpendicular planes. The indoor scene abstract model is created through this system and the navigation through the process of 3D reconstruction. This system first automatically detects the vanishing points in a cylindrical environment map from parallel lines and planes, and determines the indoor scene topology previously defined using this information. The determined topology enables he user intervention UI simply construct a 3D model by using the photogrammetry. The modeling system can be ...

  • This study investigates the ultimate behavior of reinforced concrete beams by means of practical nonlinear finite element (FE) analyses. Uniaxial constitutive models for the concrete and steel material are selected in this study. The adopted material model is integrated into the ABAQUS fiber beam elements through a user-defined material subroutine (UMAT). Within a developed nonlinear finite element framework, the FE results have been compared to experimental results reported by other researchers. It has been found that the proposed finite element model is capable of predicting the initial cracking load level, the yield load, the ultimate load, and the crack distribution with acceptable accuracy.

  • In this paper, we propose a software design method that will track the effects of modifications in a component to the rest of the components in the design phase. The prediction of the effects due to the design modifications before coding can be a valuable aid for the complex and large software development. Within the method, the target system is represented by the structured I/O system level specification which is one of the system representation level defined by the system theory. Then it is abstracted to the I/O system level. The DEVS (Discrete Event System Specification) model is constructed based on tile I/O system level specification. Finally, the DEVS model is simulated to generate the behavior of the software by the abstract simulator in DEVS simulation environment. As an application, the graphic user interface system of a metal grating production scheduling system is presented.

  • ISO 15926 is an international standard for the representation of process plant lifecycle data. However, it is not easy to implement the part 2-data model and the part 4-initial reference data because of their complexity in terms of data structure and shortages of related development toolkits. To overcome this problem, ISO 15926-7(part 7) is under development. ISO 15926-7 specifies implementation methods for sharing and exchange of process plant lifecycle data, which is based on semantic web technologies such as OWL, Web Services, and SPARQL. For the application of ISO 15926-7, this paper discusses how to represent technical specifications of process plant equipment by defining user-defined reference data and object information model with an example of reactor coolant pumps located in the reactor coolant system of an APR 1400 nuclear power plant.

  • In the new database applications such as office information systems, CAD/CAM, and AI, it is required to support not only fixed Is-A and Part-Of relationships but also various user-defined dynamic relationships including complicate constraints. However, existing object-oriented systems have many weaknesses in managing those complex relationships. This paper presents the Object-Oriented Relationship data Model (OORM) which is designed to provide facilities for modeling complex relationships into object oriented databases using abstraction concept. In the model, various integrity and consistency constraints related to the relationships can be also represented. And this paper presents a query language, ORSQL(Object Relationship SQL). ORSQL is a nonprocedural query language having similiar syntax to the standard SQL and supporting OORM's operations.

  • This paper describes the dynamic performance of a variable speed wind turbine system responding to a wide variety of wind variations. Modeling of the wind generation using power electronics interface is proposed for dynamic simulation analysis. Component models and equations are addressed and their incorporations into a transient analysis program, PSCAD/EMTDC are provided. A wind model of four components is described, which enables observing dynamic behaviors of the wind turbine resulting from wind variations. Controllable power inverter strategies are intended for capturing the maximum power under variable speed operation and maintaining reactive power generation at a pre-determined level for constant power factor control or voltage regulation control. The components and control schemes are modeled by user-defined functions. Simulation case studies provide variable speed wind generator dynamic performance for changes in wind speed

  • This paper presents a design of network and database structure of the integrated system for power system operational planning and analysis that will be more economical and stable of power system operation. An alias of this system is Highly Integrated Total Energy System(HITES). The Client/server model of HITES is designed as a remote data management model. The input/output-type of application programs and Oracle server is standardized. The separated user-databases from main-database strengthen security of HITES. It is plan to do that tables and relationships are defined by database designs. The connection of application program and DBMS of HITES will be tested through database design and data construction.
