  • Home automation technology combines various devices in home organically with each other to ensure the convenience and improved safety of the home life refers to a technique for improving the human living. Because of the technology needed to make this house before you can act as awareness of your thoughts. In this paper, we implement the system model, such as data collection using a sensor network, and take advantage of the idea that the data itself to the home, and an introduction to the method.

  • This study conducted a spatial characterization of the public space using the pattern language of Christopher Alexander. It is the place which the city offers the human various experience. Urban public space has played an important role in flourishing public life through history. It has been a place for communication, cultural events, commercial exchange recreation, etc. among people in the city. But today, various behavior in public space and public life are declined. One of the reason in neglecting the user's need when urban space are planned and managed. This study examined the role and types of urban public space through literature survey and found the reason for its decline. For this public space spatial characteristics and indicators by FGI(Focus Group Interview) derived through. After those, case study was examined Jongro in Seoul and analyzed the spatial characteristics of the urban public space in a pattern language. Consequently, this study presents suitable a space structure direction of the public space and do for rather abundant a city space furtherance.

  • Furniture in the modern living environment, inclusive the importance of its practical value, is a plastic element of indoor space, and its artistic value also holds an important position. Moreover, emotional design based on the emotional engineering in a structural change of modern society such as urbanization, small family, aging society is proposed as an important keyword in the modern design. Namely, furniture as an component of modern residential space has been advanced as a human-oriented environmental element considering people's emotional and mental value to the functional satisfaction and artistic and emotional satisfaction. Furniture is a living tool that is much contacted to people, which affects highly on people's body and mind. This means that people's volition action can be naturally induced by furniture design, and that furniture can display a role as an active tool of means to make people's interpersonal communication and interchange. Namely, I think furniture design of emotional interchange that understands furniture user's pattern behavior and pattern, and observes furniture form and structure and functionality on users' relationship affecting on people's emotional stability and interpersonal interchange of emotion, as an indispensable element necessary for producing more human and prosperous environment of life.

Location Inference of Twitter Users using Timeline Data (타임라인데이터를 이용한 트위터 사용자의 거주 지역 유추방법)

  • If one can infer the residential area of SNS users by analyzing the SNS big data, it can be an alternative by replacing the spatial big data researches which result from the location sparsity and ecological error. In this study, we developed the way of utilizing the daily life activity pattern, which can be found from timeline data of tweet users, to infer the residential areas of tweet users. We recognized the daily life activity pattern of tweet users from user's movement pattern and the regional cognition words that users text in tweet. The models based on user's movement and text are named as the daily movement pattern model and the daily activity field model, respectively. And then we selected the variables which are going to be utilized in each model. We defined the dependent variables as 0, if the residential areas that users tweet mainly are their home location(HL) and as 1, vice versa. According to our results, performed by the discriminant analysis, the hit ratio of the two models was 67.5%, 57.5% respectively. We tested both models by using the timeline data of the stress-related tweets. As a result, we inferred the residential areas of 5,301 users out of 48,235 users and could obtain 9,606 stress-related tweets with residential area. The results shows about 44 times increase by comparing to the geo-tagged tweets counts. We think that the methodology we have used in this study can be used not only to secure more location data in the study of SNS big data, but also to link the SNS big data with regional statistics in order to analyze the regional phenomenon.

A Study on PC using State and Demand of User's at Home (주거 내 PC사용공간의 사용실태 및 사용자의식에 관한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to provide new direction on house design in consideration of the user's life pattern. To this end, pc usage status at home, demand for pc using space, and requirements for pc room interior were analyzed. A survey was taken by parents and the SPSS win.10 was applied for analysis. The survey was conducted for 2 months, starting May 2004 to see the computer usage at home, demand and satisfaction for the computer's room. The results of this study were as follows; The oldest son or daughter in a family was the main user of the computer, posting 71%. 42percent of respondents said they used the pc in their son's and daughter's room while 36% answered living room. It reflects that the whole family want to use the pc in their sharing room, or for their children's convenience. Currently, inconvenience of space-related constraints for using the pc was not that high, which possibly stems from a lack of awareness of inconvenience in using the pc. However, the need for furniture and space for refreshment was suggested. Through this study, it is expected that new housing designs need to be made to reflect these requirements into interior design and building plan for user's convenience.

  • The increasing population of the elderly is a serious problem in our communities, and a large supply of an apartment house are to accelerate rise of elderly population in apartment house massed areas. The living Pattern of the aged is different from other generations. Accordingly, the living arrangements are induces many problems in the housing life of elderly, sometimes it lower in quality of life. The purpose of this study was to search for the actual family life and needs of the elderly in apartment house. And it was to seize discrepancy between three-generation family and elderly living alone. Also by a user of housing for the elderly, it was to search for an acknowledged and an preference degree about that.

A Study on the Characteristics of PC Use Space and Users' Consciousness at Residences (주거 내 PC 사용공간의 특성 및 사용자 의식에 관한 조사연구)

A survey was taken by 1108 residences, and the SPSS win.10 was applied for analysis. The survey was conducted to see the computer usage at home, demand and satisfaction for the PC using space. The results of this study were as follows; forty-seven percent of respondents said they used the PC in son's and daughter's room while 36.8% answered living room. It reflects that the whole family want to use the PC in the same area, or for their children's convenience. Users' consciousness was analyzed four factor, which were 'physical inconvenience:'satisfactions in PC position', 'inconvenience caused by narrowness', 'notion of privacy'. PC users' consciousness had significant differences in the satisfaction by PC users' characteristic and housing characteristic. It was to be classified that the PC use space into several pattern according to furniture arrangement, and channel pattern had the highest satisfaction among those pattern. Through this study, it is expected that new housing designs need to be made to reflect lese requirements into interior design and house plan for PC user's needs.

  • In this paper, we propose a friend recommendation scheme that takes into consideration the attribute information of a POI and a user's movement patterns. The proposed scheme broadly consists of a part that filters out other users who have different preferences by calculating preferences using the attribute information of users and a part that finds a moving trajectory close to that of a user with a pattern-matching scheme. To verify the superiority of the proposed scheme, we compare it with existing schemes through various performance evaluations.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the function elements of the Integrated meter reading system based on PLC which is working in Mok-dong, Seoul and studied how to improve the vulnerability. Also we propose an efficient method for the estimation of abnormal life status through frequency domain processing of utility meter readings. We found out that even after removing the high-frequency components from the raw meter data, the shape of the graph still maintains the original graph characteristics. The graph of the inverse transformed data has simpler and smoother curve than the original graph pattern. The original graph is not good to be used in deciding whether the residence's life pattern is normal or not. We could find out that the graph which is processed frequency signal has simple and intuitive graph pattern.

  • In the future television broadcasting a flood of information from various sources will not always be welcomed by everyone. The need of accessing specific information as required is becoming a necessity. We are interested to make the life of television consumer easier by providing an intelligent television set which can adaptively proposed certain shows to the viewer based on the user historical consumed shows. The TV watching history data consists of TV program titles with their respective genres, channels, watched times and durations, etc. The method proposed is by utilizing Hidden Markov Model (HMM) to model the user preference of kind of genres the viewer will watch based on recorded genres of several weeks time. We take watching schedule from 6 PM to midnight as boundary. The range thus divided into 3 independent time band of 2 hours each resulting in 3 time bands from 6 PM to 8 PM, 8 PM to 10 PM, and lastly 10 PM to midnight. Each time band will be represented by an HMM. From each HMM we can generate a sequence of predicted genre that the user will probably watch during corresponding time-band. Our approach assumes that the user shows a consistent behavior of watching pattern in week to week basis and during the moment of watching TV. To asses the method performance experiment is conducted using real data collected from December 2002 to May 2003. Some user's data are selected and based on that predictions are made. The resulting predictions are then compared with the actual user's history. The experiment shows satisfactory result for user with middle to high consistent behavior level.
