User Interactivity Improving Mechanism in Linux-based Systems by Using Page Zeroing with DMA (DMA를 사용한 페이지 Zeroing을 통한 Linux 기반 시스템의 사용자 응답성 향상 기법)

  • 데스크탑과 모바일 기기가 고성능화됨에 따라 다양한 분야에서 고사양 응용들이 출시되고 있다. 이러한 응용들의 응답성은 사용자 경험을 결정하는 중요한 요소들 중 하나이다. 측정에 따르면 고사양 응용들 중 하나인 웹 브라우저의 응답시간에서 페이지 zeroing에 소요되는 시간이 적지 않은 비중을 차지한다. 또한 페이지 zeroing이 발생시키는 캐시 오염에 의해 추가적인 성능저하가 발생한다. 본 논문은 페이지 zeroing에 소요되는 시간을 단축하고, zeroing에 의한 캐시 오염으로 인해 발생하는 시스템의 성능저하를 방지하기 위한 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 사용자 응답시간이 아닌 구간에서 페이지들을 DMA를 사용하여 캐시를 거치지 않고 zeroing하여 보관해 두었다가 페이지 할당 요청시 선 zeroing 된 페이지들을 응용에게 제공한다. 이를 Linux 커널 4.17이 탑재된 데스크탑 환경에서 구현하였고 실험을 통해 확인한 결과 응답시간이 평균 20% 단축됨을 확인하였다.

An Analysis on the Demand Characteristics of DMB Services (DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) 서비스의 수요특성 분석)

  • This paper analyzes the demand characteristics of DMB services using survey data. According to a Logit analysis, the willingness to adopt the services is higher if the would-be user is male, is better informed with the service, is watching TV longer, and is spending more for the telecommunications services. And the survey results tell us that for the stimulation of the service, efforts should be made to increase the level of public awareness of the services. The survey response from the would-be DMB users shows that the respondents who value the nationwide coverage and the numbers of channel are more inclined to use the satellite DMB service. On the other hand, the service charge and the availability of the terrestrial broadcasting channel for the time being does not seem to influence the intention of using the terrestrial DMB service. It could be interpreted that the potential user are deciding whether to use the service more by the quality and contents of the service rather than by the cost of the service.

Development of An Optimal Design Program for Open-Chain Dynamic Systems (불구속연쇄 동적시스템을 위한 최적설계 프로그램 개발)

  • This paper proposes an optimal design software for the open-chain dynamic systems whose governing equations are expressed as differential equation. In this software, an input module and an automatic creation module of the equation of motion are developed to contrive the user's convenience. To analyze the equation of motion of the dynamic systems, variable-order and variable-stepsize Adams-Bashforth-Moulton predictor-corrector method is used to improve the efficiency. For the optimization and the design sensitivity analysis, ALM(augmented lagrange multiplier)method and adjoint variable method are adopted respectively. An output module with which the user can compare and investigate the analysis and the optimization results through tables and graphs is also provided. The developed software is applied to three typical dynamic response optimization problems, and the results compare very well with those available in the literature, demonstrating its effectiveness.

  • Pro-program function of Pro/E has been utilized to expedite the design process of bellows. Design parameters selected for bellows design are manipulated to obtain the shapes user specified. User-oriented function may automate the bellows design process and this function may enable to reduce the design time remarkably. Generated bellows solid model has been applied to study of design sensitivity and optimum design. Among the selected design parameters, thickness of bellows affects system response most. Control-ring installed bellows may reduce the stress and prove to be an effective element for heavy load. The finite element analysis results combined with 3D model generated by pro-program may provide the feasible design directions to the bellows designer.

  • This research is concerned with the development of an Internet-based robot system, which is insensitive to the unpredictable internet time delay. For this purpose, a simple mobile robot system that moves in response to the user s direct control on the internet has been developed. The time delay in data transmission is an important problem for the construction of this kind of system. Therefore, the PPS (Position Prediction Simulator) is suggested and implemented to compensate for the time delay problem of the internet. The simulation and experimental results show that the distance error can be reduced using the developed PPS.

  • This paper proposes a CDMA receiver structure with time-shifted m-sequence orthogonal reception process, and analyzes the output SNR performance and the characteristics of the orthogonal receiver. This structure can be simply implemented with the converntional receiver adding an additional integrator path in parallel and an adder sums the conventional path and the new path output signals. The structure provides to reference user signal not only increment of signal component but also perfect orthogonal characteristic, canceling the accumulated cross-correlated value out to zero between the reference user and other user signals. Hence, the proposed structure can be applied for channel impulse response measurement, and used for multi-user interference signal cancellation and channel capacity increment by flexible structural inter-working operation of the added path, connection or disconnection, to conventional receiver structure.

  • In this paper, we investigate the performance of ARQ-aided Time Switched Transmit Diversity (ARQ-TSTD) applying the multi-level control signaling in the WCDMA LCR-TDD system. Proposed ARQ-TSTD system applies the multi-level control signaling scheme in which the receiver sends the response signal (ACK or NACK signal) to the transmitter and defines NACK2 signal for multi-level control. Transmitter utilize the NACK2 control signal to the postponement of transmission and multi-user scheduling scheme proposed by this paper. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed postponement of transmission and multi-user scheduling scheme yield about 1.3dB, 1.4dB performance gain respectively, compared with the conventional ARQ-TSTD with antenna switching scheme in tenn of the frame error rate (FER) for mobile speed of 3km/h and FER value of 10%. In addition, 14% and 11.5% of throughput gain respectively is shown when Eb/N0=-3dB.

  • Multi-client online games usually employ multi-serve architectures. For group play, if the user response time deviation between the clients in a group is large, the fairness and attractions of the game will be degraded. In this paper, given new clients, we propose a method for assigning the clients to servers to minimize the deviation of client-server distance which plays a major role in the user response time. This method also supports client matching for group play and server load balancing. We formulate the client-server assignment problem as an IP one, and present a GA(Genetic Algorithm)-based algorithm to solve it. We experimented our method under various settings and analyzed its features. To our survey, little research has been previously performed on client-server assignment under consideration of client matching, distance deviation minimization and server load balancing.

  • As container traffic in the world increases rapidly, size if containership is become bigger and bigger. With these trends, many studies have. been done on such big ships by consultant, naval architects, port designers, ship operators, economists etc,. with different points of view and results. But previous studies were concentrated on hardware and theoretical side. Therefore the objective of this paper is to analyze response and intention of ship's user such as shipping companies and forwarding companies about prospects of mega-ship size, preference of Mega ship, problem and handling time of Mega ship.
