Technology Requirements for Wearable User Interface

  • Objective: The objective of this research is to investigate the fundamentals of human computer interaction for wearable computers and derive technology requirements. Background: A wearable computer can be worn anytime with the support of unrestricted communications and a variety of services which provide maximum capability of information use. Key challenges in developing such wearable computers are the level of comfort that users do not feel what they wear, and easy and intuitive user interface. The research presented in this paper examines user interfaces for wearable computers. Method: In this research, we have classified the wearable user interface technologies and analyzed the advantages and disadvantages from the user's point of view. Based on this analysis, we issued a user interface technology to conduct research and development for commercialization. Results: Technology requirements are drawn to make wearable computers commercialized. Conclusion: The user interface technology for wearable system must start from the understanding of the ergonomic aspects of the end user, because users wear the system on their body. Developers do not try to develop a state-of-the-art technology without the requirement analysis of the end users. If people do not use the technology, it can't survive in the market. Currently, there is no dominant wearable user interface in the world. So, this area might try a new challenge for the technology beyond the traditional interface paradigm through various approaches and attempts. Application: The findings in this study are expected to be used for designing user interface for wearable systems, such as digital clothes and fashion apparel.

단독주택용 태양광발전설비의 사용자 요구사항 분석 (User Requirement Analysis of Photovoltaic Equipment for Detached Houses)

  • 본 연구는 단독주택용 태양광발전설비의 사용자 요구사항 분석을 목적으로 하였다. 분석을 위해 태양광발전설비를 설치한 202가구를 방문하여 설문을 실시하였다. 설문 결과 사용자들은 '자부담금액 축소'와 '유지관리서비스'를 주로 요구하였다. 또한 '태양광발전설비에 대한 교육'을 실시할 경우 이에 참여하고 싶은 의사도 높게 나타났다. 태양광발전설비의 설치 실태를 파악한 결과는 다음과 같았다. 태양광발전설비를 설치한 위치 중 옥상에 설치한 가구가 54%로 가장 많았다. 태양광 모듈이 설치된 각도는 $25-35^{\circ}$의 범위가 가장 많았으며, 설치방향은 남향이 93%의 비율을 차지하였다. 조사된 가구의 월평균 발전량 평균은 약 320kWh이다. 향후에는 본 연구에서 나타난 사용자 요구사항을 해결할 기술과 정책에 대한 연구가 필요하다고 판단된다.

사용자 인증 소프트웨어 개발 프로세스에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development Process of User Authentication Software)

  • 컴퓨터 로그인이나 인터넷 뱅킹에서 사용자 인증은 필수적인 요소이다. 사용자 인증 소프트웨어에서 보안성은 당연히 중요할뿐 아니라 사용하기도 쉬워야 한다. 소프트웨어 개발을 체계적으로 진행하기 위해서는 개발 프로세스가 정의되어 있어야 하고, 개발 프로세스는 소프트웨어 성숙도를 향상시킬 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 비주얼 패스워드 입력 소프트웨어를 개발한 사례를 통하여 사용자 인증 소프트웨어를 체계적으로 개발할 수 있는 프로세스를 제안한다. 제안한 프로세스는 6단계, 15개 활동으로 구성된다. 제안한 프로세스는 사용성 요구분석, 계획수립, 통합시험, 인수시험 활동을 통하여 사용성을 향상시킬 수 있다.

요구사항 불확실성과 표준화가 소프트웨어 프로젝트 성과에 미치는 영향 : 한국과 미국의 비교연구 (The Impacts of Requirement Uncertainty and Standardization on Software Project Performance : A Comparison of Korea and USA)

  • Most software projects inevitably involve various types and degrees of uncertainty. Without proper risk assessment and coordination, software projects can easily run out of control and consume significant additional resource. Thus, risk management techniques are critical issues to information system researchers. Previous empirical studies of U.S. software firms support the adoption of development standardization and user requirement analysis techniques in risk-based software project management. Using data collected from software projects developed in Korea during 1999-2000, we conduct a comparative study to determine how risk management strategies impact software product and process performance in countries with dissimilar IT capabilities. In addition, we offer an alternative conceptualization of residual performance risk. We show that the use of residual performance risk as an intervening variable is inappropriate in IT developing countries like Korea where the role of late stage risk control remedies are critical. A revised model is proposed that generates more reliable empirical implications for Korean software projects.

A Specifying Method for Real-Time Software Requirement

  • 이 논문은 실시간 소프트웨어의 요구 분석을 위한 구조이다. 이 방법은 실제 사용자들과의 쉬운 통신 수단으로 TNPN(Timed Numerical Petri Net)을 사용하는데, 시스템의 정확성을 위해서 RT시(Real Time Temporal Logic)에 기초한다. TNPT은 행위 명세언어로서 사용되며, 그 행위의 정당성은 RTTL로 표현되는데, 도달성 그래프를 통해 분석되었다. 그래서 사용자와 시스템의 두가지 요구사항이 모두 만족된다. 공유트랙 시스템의 예를 통하여 실시간의 성질(안전성, 응답성, 생존성, 우선순위)들이 검증되었다. 또한 이 구조는 자연스럽게 객체와 연결된다.

Development of PC-based Radiation Therapy Planning System

  • The main principle of radiation therapy is to deliver optimum dose to tumor to increase tumor cure probability while minimizing dose to critical normal structure to reduce complications. RTP system is required for proper dose plan in radiation therapy treatment. The main goal of this research is to develop dose model for photon, electron, and brachytherapy, and to display dose distribution on patient images with optimum process. The main items developed in this research includes: (l) user requirements and quality control; analysis of user requirement in RTP, networking between RTP and relevant equipment, quality control using phantom for clinical application (2) dose model in RTP; photon, electron, brachytherapy, modifying dose model (3) image processing and 3D visualization; 2D image processing, auto contouring, image reconstruction, 3D visualization (4) object modeling and graphic user interface; development of total software structure, step-by-step planning procedure, window design and user-interface. Our final product show strong capability for routine and advance RTP planning.

Research and Design of Functional Requirements of Shared Electric Bicycle App Based on User Experience

  • Intelligent applications are crucial for increasing the popularity of shared urban electric bicycles (EBs). Building an application platform architectural system that can satisfy independent user operations is critical for increasing the intelligent usage of shared EBs. Consequently, we collected online reviews of shared EB applications, conducted semantic processing and sentiment analysis, and refined the positive and negative review data for each function. The positive and negative review indices of each function were calculated using the formulae for positive and negative review indices of product functions, thereby determining the functions that need to be improved. Each function of the Shared EB application was improved according to its business process. The main contributions of this study are to build a user requirement architecture system for the Shared EB application with five dimensions and 22 functions using the Delphi method to design the user interface (UI) of this application based on user satisfaction evaluation results; to create a high-fidelity dynamic interaction prototype and compare user satisfaction before and after improving the Shared EB application functions. The testing results indicate that the changes in the UI significantly improve the user experience satisfaction of the urban Shared EB application, with the positive experience index increasing by 69.21% and the negative experience index decreasing by 75.85% overall. This information can be directly used by relevant companies to improve the functions of the Shared EB application.

TV와 휴대폰의 사용자 인터페이스 디자인 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study for User Interface Design between TV and Mobile Phone)

  • An estimated 1 billion mobile phone were sold globally in the year 2006. In Korea, people watch television 3.17 hours in a day. Television isn't what it used to be. Digital TV provides both interactivity and high definition. Mobile phone also transferred from 2G to 3G or 3.5G. This means the complexity of TV and mobile phone is increased, design of user interface is more difficult. Unlike the personal computer industry, TV and mobile phone industries have no standard user interface. A comparative study for user interface between TV and mobile phone is studied. User, task, system are analyzed in requirement analysis. User interface model and interaction are also analyzed between TV and mobile phone. This study provides some insights for user interface design. First, the UI designer have to consider another products because one user using one product at the same time using another products. Experience for one product affects that for another product. Second, TV and mobile phone show very similar pattern, especially interaction task and input interaction. Third, there are not sometimes optimized experience between service operator and device manufacturer. Cooperative design between them is required.

FDDI와 프레임 릴레이를 이용한 고속 데이터 통신망 설계 및 구축 (Design and Construction of High Speed Data Communication Network Using FDDI and Frame Realy)

  • In this paper, we design and construct a high speed LAN(Local Area Network) using FDDI(Fiber Distributed Data Interface) and Frame Relay in order to support our multimedia communication services. A program of this communication network is divided into requirement analysis, design, establishment and test. First, we propose an optimal communication method that compares various network techniques in the requirement analysis phase. Second, we design the physical network configuration, secure method, and address in the LAN and WAN. Finally, we establish and test the communication devices and lines. Ultimately, we minimized mistakes and satisfied user requirements using this program. We constructed efficiently a high speed data communication network using FDDI and Frame Relay.

  • 웹 환경의 급성장에 따른 애플리케이션의 사용성 중심설계가 부각되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 사용성 중심설계를 기반으로 사용자 인터페이스의 프로토타입을 자동으로 생성하기 위한 개발 단계와 알고리즘을 제안한다. 즉, 요구분석으로부터 사용자 인터페이스의 전이 객체를 모델링하고, 사용자 인터페이스를 생성하기 위한 비즈니스 이벤트의 추상화 모델링 규칙과 알고리즘을 만들었다. 이것은 사용자 인터페이스에서 비즈니스 이벤트들의 가시적 응집도를 높일 수 있고, 미숙한 설계자도 양질의 사용자 인터페이스의 프로토타입을 개발할 수 있도록 지원한다. 또한, 사용자가 인터페이스에 대한 비즈니스 업무의 이해도를 향상시키고, 프로토타이핑의 반복 횟수를 줄일 수 있다.
