  • Recently, there're lots of interest in UCC, user-created contents, in the Internet market. the sites providing only the UCC service are beginning to appear. I am going to find out their strengths and weaknesses and the future directions. I started this study by discussing the direction of the UCC business. Now we see that the video UCC contents in the portal sites are growing gradually.

  • The recent UCC video sector possesses an explosive potential for growth as it will act as a critical factor in determining the popularity of portal sites. We identified and compared the strengths and weaknesses in the UCC sector of "Naver" and "Daum", which are currently in the development phase, and we investigated alternatives as well as proposing an outlook for both portal companies. We believe a better UCC video service will be the deciding factor in a portal's popularity and therefore researches in the UCC video sector must continue.

  • Web 2.0 시대의 도래와 함께 사용자가 제작한 동영상 컨텐츠를 공유하는 웹서비스인 UCC에 대한 관심이 날로 높아지고 있다. 이는 지속적인 사용이 요구되는 서비스 분야로서 UI의 중요성이 더욱 절실한 분야이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 UCC 동영상 서비스 사이트의 UI Design 가이드라인을 제시하기 위하여 다음과 같은 연구를 진행하였다. 다양한 UCC 동영상 서비스의 대표사이트 중 국외의 YouTube 사이트와 국내의 Pandora 사이트를 중심으로 Task 분석을 통해 사용성 평가에 필요한 Task 항목을 도출하였다. 사용성 평가를 실시한 후, 평가 결과를 분석하여 문제점을 종합하고 실제 다른 사이트의 UI Design을 분석하는데 필요한 비교 분석표를 제안하였다. 이 비교 분석표를 통해 대표적인 UCC 동영상 서비스 사이트의 사례 분석을 실시한 후, 최종 UCC 동영상 서비스를 위한 UI Design 가이드라인을 제안한다.

The Effect of social presence and affection on usage and participation in the UCC service (UCC 서비스 이용과 참여에서의 사회적 실재감과 감정차원의 중요성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we investigate the effect of social presence and affection on usage and participation in the UCC service. We have conducted a face-to-face survey along with an e-mail survey and obtained a total of 329 responses. The findings show that social presence has a significant impact on pleasure and arousal. Social presence and pleasure in turn show a positive impact on using the UCC service. However, arousal has no significant influence on the UCC service usage. Participation in the UCC service appears to be a different behavior than the UCC usage. Pleasure shows a negative effect on the UCC service participation, while arousal very strongly and positively affects the UCC service participation. The significance of this study can be found in that it empirically demonstrates the importance of social presence and affection in promoting the UCC service usage.

  • The era of Web 2.0, which is the web environment that offers end user oriented web platform, has arrived. Moreover, as the interest in UCC (User Created Contents) environment increases, it is a fact that the involvement of the users in multimedia contents is increasing rapidly. When the aim of Web 2.0, i.e. active involvement of the user, is considered, the necessity and the understanding about accessibility problem of the people who have difficulties about accessing web information, such as elderly and visually handicapped people, is increasing as well. This research analyzes the problems of virtually handicapped users to access web-based UCC services, and proposes an efficient implementation plan for a web-based UCC service that enables smooth access for them. Especially, the validity of the proposed method was verified by comparing the reaction time of the visually handicapped users with that when using the existing UCC services, through the implementation of the test page according to the plan proposed in this research.

  • The Internet is encountering a new turning point owing to the raising Web 2.0. A user Just receives the information and service provided by a service provider in the existing web 2.0, but a user can create a new service for himself using an application program and data provided in web 2.0. The digital content market is producing a new service according to Web 2.0. The specific service among them is User Created Contents(UCC) and it is leading to the participation and interesting of user SecondLife also which is the type as Social Network Service(SNS) and VR, is placing as a new service type. This paper defines Web 2.0 environment and classifies as UCC, SNS and Virtual Reality(VR) and defines a variety services shown in new environment. It also analyzes shortcomings and then prospect a new type of service which will be shown in the future.

  • This study aims to investigate the effects of UCC parody content trait on user attitude and e-word of mouth. The conventional methods had two identified factors: UCC content factors - trust, usefulness, and information, and parody content factors - humor, satire, and mockery. It also analyzes the impacts gap in UCC attitude between a high-involvement user and a low-involvement user in UCC contents. In this study, our findings are broadly summarized as follows: first, both trust and information, of UCC content factors, showed a positive impact on UCC attitude; second, both humor and satire, of parody content factors, showed a positive impact on UCC attitude; third, UCC attitude showed a positive impact on e-word of mouth, and both humor and satire were highly correlated to UCC attitude in UCC involvement user groups. In conclusion, this study is expected to give useful suggestions on selecting variables for further studies on UCC parody contents.

  • Due to advance of communication environment and storage media, economics at home and abroad gets changed to active consumption environment to make digital contents by oneself and to consume ones. Specially UCC to be made by a user has been generating the various effects enough to be a issue in all the world. UCC multimedia among UCC quickly emerges as a core of crustal movement of Internet and so does an enterprise to concentrate his efforts on UCC multimedia. In this paper, we analyze the technical trend for UCC multimedia service and review the base techniques. Throught these studies, we bring up the growing direction for development of UCC service at the future.

Analysis on the Post Acceptance Behavior Model in User Created Contents(UCC) (사용자제작콘텐츠(UCC) 이용자의 수용 후 행동 모델 분석)

  • The primary objective of this paper is to examine post acceptance behavior model in UCC services. Based on the relevant literature reviews, this study posits six characteristics, that is, expectation confirmation, perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, satisfaction, and continuance intention as key variables to describe the post acceptance behavior model in UCC services. Then we constructed a research model and hypotheses about relationship between these variables. A total 286 usable survey responses of UCC service users have been employed in the analysis. The empirical results of this study are summarized as follows. Firstly, expectation confirmation has a positive effect on the perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, and satisfaction. Secondly, perceived enjoyment has a positive effect on the satisfaction. Lastly, perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, and satisfaction have a positive effect on the continuance intention. These results will be helpful for the UCC services sector to further develop service delivery strategies for strengthening the ongoing relationship with customers. Finally, some possible limits of the present research and future directions for such research were discussed.
