It is difficult to find web contents for visual disabilities in spite of rapid growing internet users, infrastructures and advance of computer technology. For the case of usenet newsgroup concerning disabilities, hit rate is even less than E-mail because of lack of accessibility, educational support and economical expense for internet. This paper is addressed to voice usenet newsgroup service by using telephone or web browser for visual disabilities without additional S/W support such as 775, usenet program and installation program, suggests a design method and an implementation example for it. Main features of it are easiness of man machine interface, popularity of access device such as telephone or web browser and independency of particular news server by using NNTP. This system supports general MIME format, is implemented for usenet server of Korean Social Worker's Community and will be implemented for Gomduri InfoNet BBS of Korean Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.

The UUCP program of either 4.1BSD or 4.2BSD version has been implemented to run under the System Development Network(SDN). This allows file transfers, remote command executions and mail transfers among UNIX systems. The major tasks are: developing dial-up capabilities, connections to domestic and international computer networks such as SDN, USENET and EUNET.

It is important to retrieve exact information coinciding with user's need from lots of Usenet news and filter desired information quickly. Differently from email system, we must previously register our interesting news group if we want to get the news information. However, it is not easy for a novice to decide which news group is relevant to his or her interests. In this work, we present a service classifying user preferred news groups among various news groups by the use of Kohonen network. We first extract candidate terms from example documents and then choose a number of representative keywords to be used in Kohonen network from them through fuzzy inference. From the observation of training patterns, we could find the sparsity problem that lots of keywords in training patterns are empty. Thus, a new method to train neural network through reduction of unnecessary dimensions by the statistical coefficient of determination is proposed in this paper. Experimental results show that the proposed method is superior to the method using every dimension in terms of cluster overlap defined by using within cluster distance and between cluster distance.

최근의 컴퓨터 및 기타 통신망의 급속한 팽창 과 고속화 및 발전으로 인터넷이 없는 일상 생활은 상상할 수 도 없을 만큼 우리와 밀접하게 연결되어 있다. 특히 타 국가에 비하여 초고속 통신망이 일반가정에까지 광범위하게 연결되어 있는 우리나라에서는 인터넷의 사용자가 전문가로부터 주부에 이르기까지 그 사용자 층과 사용범위가 매우 광범위하며 그 적용분야가 나날이 증가하고 있다. 이는 1969년 미국방성의 ARPANET 프로젝트를 시발점으로 하여 USENET, BITNET 등으로 이어지는 과거 인터넷의 전통적인 학술 및 군사적 사용목적에서 그 사용범위가 크게 확대되어 요즈음은 오히려 상업적 목적의 사용이 훨씬 더 활발하고 다양한 양상을 띠고 있는 것과 무관하지 않다.(중략)

본 연구에서는 다양한 뉴스그룹들 중에서 사용자의 취향과 유사한 뉴스그룹들을 코호넨 신경망을 이용하여 추천해주는 방법을 제시한다. 신경망을 학습시키기 위한 뉴스 문서의 키워드들을 선택하기 위해 여러 문서들로부터 후보 용어들을 추출하고 퍼지 추론을 적용하여 대표 용어들을 선택한다. 하지만 신경망의 학습패턴을 관찰해 보면, 맡은 부분이 비어있는 희소성 문제를 발견할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 통계적인 결정계수를 도입하여 불필요한 차원을 제거한 후 신경망을 학습시키는 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 모든 차원을 활용할 때 보다 클러스터내 거리와 클러스터간 거리의 척도를 이용한 클러스터 중첩도 면에서 우수한 분류 성능을 보여줌을 확인하였다.

With the proliferation of internet, it is increasingly needed to realize personalized news filtering service reflecting user's interest. In this Paper, we implement a filtering agent for Personalized news service. In the proposed system, Kohonen network for an unsupervised learning is used to train keywords provided by users and the personalization is achieved by using the trained neural network. After we trained and tested our filtering agent we could provide users news groups considering their interests.

News service provide professional knowledge which can't be gained from any other internet service and the only way to keep pace with professional group. To get this advantage, many country provide news service and three major korean news server connected with foreign news server provide many articles to korea. A lot of institutes - company, research centers and universities - forward articles to home and abroad. In spite of this important effect, The user of news service and technical supports grow smaller. And now It is necessary for a nation to support and operate by non-profitable business. Especially, partially adapted security weaken entire system safety and can't satisfy service provider of various necessary condition. In this paper, we will mention troubles in authentication and suggest safety authentication method which must be supported by established news service.

This paper presents a framework for observable behavior that can be used as a basis for user modeling, and it reports the results of a pair of user studies that examine the joint utility of two specific behaviors. User models can be constructed by hand, or they can be teamed automatically based on feedback provided by the user about the relevance of documents that they have examined. By observing user behavior, it is possible to obtain implicit feedback without requiring explicit relevance judgments. Four broad categories of potentially observable behavior are identified : examine, retain, reference, and annotate, and examples of specific behaviors within a category are further subdivided based on the natural scope of information objects being manipulated . segment object, or class. Previous studies using Internet discussion groups (USENET news) have shown reading time to be a useful source of implicit feedback for predicting a user's preferences. The experiments reported in this paper extend that work to academic and professional journal articles and abstracts, and explore the relationship between printing behavior and reading time. Two user studies were conducted in which undergraduate students examined articles or abstracts from the telecommunications or pharmaceutical literature. The results showed that reading time can be used to predict the user's assessment of relevance, that the mean reading time for journal articles and technical abstracts is longer than has been reported for USENET news documents, and that printing events provide additional useful evidence about relevance beyond that which can be inferred from reading time. The paper concludes with a brief discussion of the implications of the reported results.
