  • Fuzzy modelling is a useful method when the variation of plant dynamics is large. In the fuzzy modelling by parameter identification, a new method is proposed in the part of premise parameters identification and in expanding MISO system into MIMO system. Using the proposed method, a fuzzy model of the drum boiler of the thermal power plant can be derived. In addition, feedwater control of the drum by fuzzy controller using the fuzzy model, is simulated.

  • Computer game has become the core part of multimedia and entertainment in our knowledge and information based society We are competitive in developing 2D games. However, we have difficulties in maintaining the competitive edge in the area of 3D game technologies owing to the limited funds and technologies. Game engines are very useful to develop high-quality 3D games. In this paper, we discuss game engines and development of contents, and also present a development case of 3D games using Dream3D.

  • This paper deals with performance measures for recoverable item control where the demand process is time-dependent. The performance measure is essential for modelling a multi-echelon inventory problem for repairable items. Most repairable items are expensive and have a great influence on the performance of equipments. Thus the information on these items is very useful to the decision maker. The purpose of this paper is to derive the system performance measure and the part(component) performance measure considering a cannibalization policy under the dynamic environment.

  • This paper represents a study on disassembly sequence generation system for automobile parts. This system is practically very useful because proper disassembly sequence of end-of-life product becomes crucial as take-back obligations are imposed for environmental reasons. Therefore a disassembly sequence generation system is suggested to automatically derive all the feasible disassembly sequences from the assembly modeling files. As a result, in consideration of the all parts and subassemblies the optimum disassembly sequence is generated. And the optimum disassembly sequence for a certain part or subassembly can be also suggested.

  • Conventional AGC controller implemented by considering ACE and bias factors always contains error terms due to inaccuracy of bias factors. To improve this steady state AGC performance, PI controller can be introduced to the ACE processing and plant controller part. Even though more rigorous inspections are required, a simple application shows that it can be very useful for the improvements of AGC performances.

  • Features are generic shapes with which engineers associate certain attributes and knowledge useful in reasoning about the product. Feature-based modeling systems support additional levels of information beyond those available in geometric modelers. The objective of this study is to develop a PC level feature-based modeling system which explicitly represents dimensions of the part. The feature-based modeler retains all the benefits of traditional B-rep. solid models, and represents the dimensions at a high level of a abstraction so that dimension driven geometry can be achieved.

  • This paper presents the reliability calculation method in power supply for a part of the power system reliability control. This method involves assuming several systems that can meet the demands, accidents on the transmission facilities and power source and performing the load flow calculation which will lead to the demands which are not served, frequency of the not-served demands and mean value of the not-served demands. In this study the simplified method for reliability calculation by using the maximal flow problem was developed. The results demonstrate the remarkable advantages and more useful than any other methods for the practical applications.

  • Stability of a coupled nonautonomous ordinary differential equation is investigated. Asymptotic convergence to zero of a part of state vector is additionally shown, otherwise only uniform stability could have been concluded by the Lyapunov direct method. Obtained results could be particularly useful in analysis of nonautonomous systems in which the invariance principle does not hold. An illustrating example is given.

  • This study examines the effects of Internet-based English practice on listening and reading. Out of a total of 16 students who took part in pre- and post-tests, 11 who had frequently practiced listening and reading on the Internet showed greater improvement in these skills than the 5 who had practiced less. The findings also suggest that summarization of listening and reading on the Internet was useful as it made students concentrate specifically on the content. This study suggests that English language teachers use a bulletin board to complement the use of Internet sites for listening and reading practice outside of the classroom in an EFL context.

  • The painter Leon Battista Alberti insisted that mathematics was very important in painting in his famous book "Della Pittura(On Painting)" at 15th century. At the first part of the book, he explained about points, lines, and planes mathematically. And he emphasized that the proportion was very useful for accurate description of objects. This is the perspective that Alberti showed by using visual pyramid. In this paper, we investigate the Alberti' s method and the background of Alberti's perspective.
