영유아의 교육 및 보육기관 이용과 기관유형선택에 영향을 미치는 사회인구학적 요인 (Use of Early Childhood Care Centers and the Sociodemographic Factors of Choosing an Institute)

  • The purpose of this study is to offer essential information related to early childhood education and care policy. Using the Korea Labor and Income Panel Study(KLIPS) Vol.5., this study analyzed sociodemographic factors that decide the use and type of institute for early childhood education and care. The following results are obtained: First, it is not easy for young children under three years old to use education and care institutes because of their preference for home care. Second, the mother's job status affects the child's use of child care centers and private institutes for education except for the using of early child education centers. Third, the affecting main factors for the use of child care centers are quite similar to critical factors for use of the private institute for education. Thus, young children using the private institute for education could be interpreted as coming from a low-income class compared with the children using the early child education centers.

수술 전 통증자가조절기에 관한 교육이 수술 후 통증에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Education on Preoperative PCA upon Postoperative Pain)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of a structured preoperative PCA education to that of the usual informal teaching provided by hospital staff in alleviating postoperative pain through more effective use of PCA therapy. Method: As an advanced research, the knowledge about the use of PCA therapy and the attitude about the use of the pain medicine were estimated, and then as a later research, the knowledge about the use of PCA therapy, the attitude about the use of the pain medicine, and the score of the pain were estimated. Result: The experimental group those who received structured preoperative PCA education had statistically significant higher knowledge regarding the use of PCA therapy(p=0.026) and more positive attitudes toward using pain medicine(p=0.004). The experimental group those who received structured preoperative PCA education reported better pain control 4(p=0.002), 8(p=0.014) and 24 hours(p=0.018) after the operation. Conclusion: The structured preoperative PCA education increases the knowledge for the use of patient's PCA therapy and changes their attitude toward the use of the pain medicine positively and consequently enable the use of PCA therapy to be more effective and then finally reduced the patient's pain after the operation.

The Net Generation Debate: Unpacking Individual Perceptions and Lived Experiences toward Technology Use in Education

  • This study aims to examine individual perceptions and lived experiences of the Net generation of student teachers and the previous generation of teachers about their technology use in education. The participants of this study include 106 pre-service teachers and 50 in-service teachers from one teacher education university in Korea. Employing a mixed methodology, we first empirically examined the participants' perceptions toward multiple variables related to technology use in education, namely (a) past ICT experiences in schools, (b) personal computer use, (c) constructivist belief, (d) computer efficacy, (e) attitude toward computer in education, and (f) prospective computer use. In addition, we conducted face-to-face interviews with selected participants for the in-depth investigation of their lived experiences about technology use, beliefs, and attitude. Results indicate that there are significant differences between in-service and pre-service teachers in their prior experiences with technology in schools. However, the pre-service and in-service teachers did not differ significantly in their beliefs, attitude and other technology-related variables, which may indicate the danger of generational determinism in the Net Generation debate. The analysis of interview narratives revealed two major themes about the interplay of one's agency and structural changes in the participants' lived experiences with technology use in education: (a) transition from negative past experiences to opportunities for positive computer use, and (b) attitudes formation and change through apprenticeship experiences and structural influences. In conclusion, this study suggests that the Net Generation debate should move beyond dichotomous or techno-centric thinking. There is a critical need to pay more attention to develop deeper understandings of the fundamental diversity existing within the generation itself. Implications for teacher education are also discussed.

일부 노인의 교육 및 소득정도가 구강건강상태 및 관리행태와 치과이용행태에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Education and Income Levels of Some Elderly on Oral Health Status and Management Behavior and Dental Use Behavior)

  • 본 연구는 노인들의 교육과 소득정도에 따른 구강건강상태 및 관리행태와 치과이용행태를 파악하여, 노인구강건강 증진에 대한 정책과 제도를 마련하기 위한 근거자료를 제시하고자 실시하였다. 자료조사는 2019년 8월 19일부터 2019년 10월 25일까지 대전지역에 거주하는 노인 224명을 대상으로 실시하였으며, 수집된 자료는 chi-square test와 logistic regression analysis 등으로 분석하였다. 그 결과 구강건강상태 및 관리행태는 틀니사용, 임플란트사용, 구강위생용품사용, 구강보건교육경험, 구강건강관리방법에서 교육과 소득정도에 따라 유의한 차이를 보였다. 치과이용행태도 교육과 소득정도에 따라 유의한 차이를 보였으며, 연령, 교육 정도, 임플란트사용 여부, 치과이용의 주된 이유가 치과이용에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. 이에 본 연구를 토대로 교육 및 소득정도를 고려한 국가적 차원의 제도적 방안이 마련되어 노인들의 구강건강의 삶의 질이 향상될 수 있기를 기대한다.

에너지 절약에 대한 교육 효과 연구 - 대학생의 에너지절약 교육 경험을 중심으로- (A Effect of Environmental Education on Residential Energy Use -Based on the Experience of the Education of Residential Energy Use among the University Student -)

  • The research examines individual environmental characteristics, the consciousness energy conservation and behavior level of college students that relate to the experience of taking courses on residential energy use held in college, as well as the influence of experiencing school education in the past. This is to ultimately evaluate the effect of school education on the consciousness of the energy conservation and behavior level of college students at present time, in order to assist in proposing a direction for the school education on residential energy use. The results of the research can be summarized as follows: First, there appeared a gap between the group that has attended courses on residential energy use and the group that has not in terms of their major, school year and the level of consciousness of the need for energy conservation. Second, students that have attended courses on residential energy use in college were reported to have received more training in high school through textbooks and guidance of teachers and have more experience in special education. And third, it appeared that taking courses in residential energy use by college students are influenced by personal factors such as their school year and gender, major, contents of their high school textbooks and the level of consciousness of the need for energy conservation.

Examining High School Students' BYOD Use under Office of Education-led Policy: Insights from the Technology Acceptance Model

  • Offices of Education in Korea is planning and implementing the BYOD (bring your own device) policy. In particular, the Seoul Metropolitan Education Office promoted the 'Dibud' (digital buddy) policy. Due to the relative newness of the policy, coupled with opposition from the council, it hasn't been fully implemented. This study focuses on a rare example of a high school that experienced BYOD under the Office of Education-led policy in all three grades. This study adapted key variables from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The regression results showed that both perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEOU) significantly influenced intention to use Chromebooks and students' perceived learning outcomes. Analysis of the open-ended questionnaires revealed that students perceived positive benefits from using Chromebooks, such as easier data retrieval, improved academic performance, and increased learning productivity. Although the majority of respondents said there were no negative aspects to Chromebooks, negative factors included non-academic use, wireless network inconvenience, and device performance issues. The results of this study can provide data and understanding for future BYOD policies, specifically Chromebooks.

초등학교 교육정보화의 현주소 (Current Status of the Use of Information Technology in Elementary Schools)

  • Due to the rapid change in society and technology, educators are paying more attention to the use of Information Technology(IT). This paper attempts to analyze the current status of the use of IT in elementary schools, focusing on two issues. First, the present status of the infrastructure for the use of IT is analyzed. Concerning the issue, this paper examines the national plan promoted by the Ministry of Education and school curriculum on computer education. Second, the current situation and hindering factors in the school use of IT are analyzed. Concerning this second issue, the results of a, survey which was conducted in December, 1997 are reported.

청소년의 올바른 항생제 사용을 위한 웹 기반 교육프로그램 개발 및 평가 (Development and Evaluation of a Web-based Education Program on Appropriate Antibiotic Use in Korean Adolescents)

  • Purpose: This study was done to develop a web-based education program on appropriate antibiotic use and test the effects of the program on knowledge and attitudes towards antibiotic use in Korean adolescents. Methods: The web-based education program was developed through an extensive literature review and professional advisory meetings including technical assistance from a web-based education programmer and content experts. A convenience sample of 851 students from middle and high schools participated in the assessment of effects of the program. Knowledge and attitudes of the students towards antibiotic use and satisfaction with the web-based education program were measured. Descriptive statistics and paired t-test were used to analyze the data. Results: There were significant improvements in knowledge and attitudes towards antibiotic use following self-learning via the web-based education program in both middle and high school students. High school students demonstrated higher scores in knowledge and attitudes than middle school students. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that this web-based education program on appropriate antibiotic use is a convenient and effective medium for self-learning in adolescents. Therefore the web-based program should be put into wide use as an effective and convenient teaching method for health education in secondary schools.

농촌지역 노인의 안전한 약물 사용을 위한 교육의 효과 (The Effects of an Education Program for Safe Drug Use in the Rural Elderly)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to develop an education program for safe drug use in the rural elderly and to measure the effect of the program. Method: This study utilized a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study consisted of 40 older persons who were more than 65 years old and lived in G and C moon, Y gun, Gyeongsang-bukdo and visited the public health subcenter. Twenty were assigned to the experimental group and 20 to the control group. The education was provided for one and a half hours, once a week for 3 weeks. Data was collected before, right after, and one month after the program. Result: The first hypothesis was supported(F=79.24, p=0.000) showing that the knowledge scores of the drug use of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group at post education and one month after education. The second hypothesis was supported(F=23.84, p=0.000) showing that the drug misuse and abuse prevention behavior scores in the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group at post education and one month after the education. Conclusion: This study suggests that the education for safe drug use is effective in promoting knowledge and behavior for safe drug use of the rural elderly.

통합사고모형에 기반한 효율적 ICT 활용 전략 (Efficient-Use Strategy of ICT based on Integrated Thinking Model)

  • 최근 국내 교육계의 최대 관심인 ICT 활용 교육은 활용 측면이 지나치게 강조되고 있고, ICT 활용 교육에 대한 연구도 실용적인 측면만이 부각됨에 따라 기능적인 활용으로 치우칠 수 있다는 우려를 낳고 있다. 본 연구는 이에 대한 대안으로서 ICT 활용을 이론적 차원에서 모색하여 효율적인 ICT 활용을 위한 구체적인 전략을 마련하고자 하였다. 먼저, 효율적 ICT 활용의 개념을 정의하였고, 전략 도출을 위한 기초 준거로 인간의 고등 사고를 설정하여 비판적 사고를 포함한 Iowa 교육부의 통합 사고 모형을 분석하였다. 이를 통해 효율적 ICT 활용을 위한 종합적 사고를 범주화하였다. 또한, 효율적 활용을 위한 ICT를 소프트웨어, 하드웨어, 활용 기술 영역으로 분류하여 각각의 개념과 상호 관계를 살펴보았다. 이렇게 분류한 ICT의 각 영역과 종합적 사고 범주와의 관련성을 규명하기 위해 '사고 영역과 ICT 영역간의 관련성 결정 준거'를 논의하였고, 이를 구체화한 'ICT-EUS 도출을 위한 분석 매트릭스'를 설정하여, 도출 과정의 타당성과 도출 결과의 명확성을 확보하고자 하였다. 이와 같은 과정을 통해 최종적으로 ICT의 영역 중 학습 자원, 학습 도구, 학습자, 탐색, 의사소통, 생산, 표현에 대한 ICT-EUS(Efficient-Use Strategy of ICT; 효율적 ICT 활용 전략)를 도출하였다. ICT-EUS는 ICT의 단순한 활용을 넘어서 학습 자원, 도구, 활용 기술 등에 대한 인지적 해석을 통해 학습 목표 달성의 효율성과 효과성을 제고할 수 있는 가능성을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
