Investigation on the Mitigation of Suicidal Thoughts in the Elderly Depending on Mobile Media Technology and Living Arrangement (모바일 미디어 기술과 주거형태에 따른 노인 자살생각 완화 연구)

  • In the super-aged societies, an increased elderly population living in solitude has been causing many problems. Since the elderly may incur a sense of loss and interest in suicide when living alone, this study investigated the effects of smartphones as well as types of living arrangements on elderly peoples' sense of loss and suicidal thoughts. This study found social roles and relationships were lower for older individuals using smartphones than those using 2G phones. Not surprisingly, those living with family members or a partner had significantly fewer suicidal thoughts than those living in solitude. However, our results indicate subjects' loss of role and relationships was affected more significantly by their smartphone usage (2G phone vs. smartphone) rather than their living arrangements (i.e., living with family or a partner vs. living in solitude). Moreover, smartphone users showed a lower sense of loss in terms of social roles and relationships. Among the elderly, loss of health, social role, and relationships were identified as precedents for increased suicidal thoughts; yet, economic capacity was surprisingly not an indicator of suicidal thoughts.

A Code-level Parallelization Methodology to Enhance Interactivity of Smartphone Entertainment Applications (스마트폰 엔터테인먼트 애플리케이션의 상호작용성 개선을 위한 코드 수준 병렬화 방법론)

  • One of the fundamental requirements of entertainment applications is interactivity with users. The mobile device such as the smartphone, however, does not guarantee it due to the limit of the application processor's computing power, memory size and available electric power of the battery. This paper proposes a methodology to boost responsiveness of interactive applications by taking advantage of the parallel architecture of mobile devices which, for instance, have dual-core, quad-core or octa-core. To harness the multi-core architecture, it exploits the POSIX thread, a platform-independent thread library to be able to be used in various mobile platforms such as Android, iOS, etc. As a useful application example of the methodology, a heavy matrix calculation function was transformed to a parallelized version which showed around 2.5 ~ 3 times faster than the original version in a real-world usage environment.

R-URC: Smartphone based RF4CE Universal Remote Control Framework (스마트폰 기반 RF4CE URC 프레임워크의 설계 및 구현)

  • RC(Remote Control) is a technology that can efficiently control and transfer a variety of user commands to CEs. However, the existing RCs have been required various additional features such as communication between CEs, extension of communication range, low power-consumption and bi-directional communication according to the advent of new types of CE devices and its enhanced performance. Even though RC controller has many customers' requests, it is not a simple solution because most legacies work on IR-based RC. In this paper, we propose RF4CE-based Universal Remote Control Framework using Smartphone in order to solve the many constraints of IR legacies. The proposed R-URC system is designed by RF4CE platform which is a kind of de-facto standard for CE remote control communication. From the verification scenarios using various CEs and smart phone, we can see that the proposed R-URC shows the good practical usage in terms of contents sharing and smart CE control.

  • The development of ICT is spreading various contents to enhance health care and management efficiency through convergence between mobile and healthcare, but it indicates consumer acceptance and imbalance of mobile healthcare, and there is a lack of empirical research on functions and acceptability required according to consumer behavior and characteristics. This study sought to understand whether users were aware of and how to address the risks associated with smartphone use, and to conduct research on the acceptability and function and price of healthcare applications. For the purpose of the study, the data prepared in depth 1:1 survey for those who participated in and attended the 'BIO 2018 in Boston' exhibition was used for the actual analysis. The collected sample data included frequency analysis, technical statistical analysis, speech only correlation, chi square test, one-way analysis, and accuracy test. As a result, the more you realize the wrong attitude, the higher the awareness of risk and willingness to take action to solve problems. Second, it is necessary to increase satisfaction with the functions of healthcare apps, as well as to utilize health care and healthcare apps. Third, focus should be placed on systems or functional implementations centered on user behavior changes. Fourth, it is necessary to develop services that can enhance visual motivation. This study is meaningful in that it identifies a variety of consumer characteristics and provides directions for development of functions, and can be used as a basis for providing efficient healthcare applications in the future.

Analysis of usage decision factors based on the satisfaction of smart seniors using smartphone delivery applications (스마트 시니어의 스마트폰 배달 애플리케이션 만족도 기반 이용결정요인 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that affect the satisfaction of smart seniors using smartphone delivery applications. We established the hypothesis by dividing the factors that will affect the satisfaction of smart seniors using smartphone delivery applications into the characteristics of the delivery app and the personal characteristics of the smart senior. In order to verify the hypothesis, we surveyed adult men and women aged 50 to 65 years old who had experience using delivery apps, and we performed confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and path analysis to perform statistical processing for data analysis. The analysis results are as follows. First, we found that usefulness among the characteristics of delivery app had a statistically significant positive effect on the delivery app satisfaction of smart seniors. Second, we found that social empathy among the personal characteristics of smart seniors had a statistically significant positive effect on the delivery app satisfaction of smart seniors. Third, we found that delivery app satisfaction had a statistically significant positive effect on reuse intention. Based on research result, we suggested that in order to improve the satisfaction and use of delivery app by smart seniors, it is necessary to develop delivery app that can be usefully used by smart seniors and focus on social empathy.

A Study on the Internet Game and Smartphone Usage of the Senior Elementary School Students (초등학교 고학년의 인터넷 게임 및 스마트폰 이용실태에 관한 연구)

  • This study was designed to determine the Internet game and smartphone usage status of senior elementary school students. Data were collected from 6 October 2018 to 30 September 2019, and 1618 subjects were analyzed using SPSS 18.0. As a result of the study, the I-GUESS rating was 6.1% in the high-risk group, and, the S-scale ratios were 10.1% for the potential-risk group and 0.8% for the high-risk group. Physical problems related to Internet games and using smartphones were experienced by 36.0% of the students, with eye fatigue being the highest at 20.4%. Emotional problems were found in 18.5% of the students, with anger being the highest at 6.8%. Social problems were experienced by 21.8% of the students, conflicts with parents being the highest at 10.3%. As a result of surveying the main content based on S-scale and I-GUESS, it was found that the higher the S-scale ratio and the I-GUESS rating, the more broadcast content was used. The correlation between I-GUESS rating and S-scale ratio showed that the higher the I-GUESS rating, the higher the S-scale ratio, and the higher the S-scale ratio, the higher the I-GUESS rating. Future research is necessary to develop an intervention program for elementary school students from a preventive perspective.

Analysis of User Experience and Usage Behavior of Consumers Using Artificial Intelligence(AI) Devices (인공지능(AI) 디바이스 이용 소비자의 사용행태 및 사용자 경험 분석)

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) devices are rapidly emerging as a core platform of next-generation information and communication technology (ICT), this study investigated consumer usage behavior and user experience through AI devices that are widely applied to consumers' daily lives. To this end, data was collected from 600 consumers with experience in using AI devices were derived to recognize the attributes and behavior of AI devices. The analysis results are as follows. First, music listening was the most used among various attributes and it was found that simple functions such as providing weather information were usefully recognized. Second, the main devices used by AI device users were identified as AI speakers, smartphone, PC and laptops. Third, associative images of AI devices appeared in the order of fun, useful, novel, smart, innovative, and friendly. Therefore, practical implications are suggested to contribute to provision of user services using AI devices in the future by analyzing usage behaviors that reflect the characteristics of AI devices.

Rectification of Smartphone Image Based on Reference Images for Facility Monitoring (시설물 모니터링을 위한 기준영상 기반 스마트폰 영상의 기하보정)

  • Monitoring of facilities such as roads, dams and bridges is important for their long-term sustainable usage. It has usually suffered with safety and cost problems, which makes more frequent monitoring difficult. As an efficient and economicalsolution to these problems, one may consider the use of smartphone to capture the status of the facilities. To derive quantitative analysis results with the smartphone images for facility monitoring, one should first rectify the images in a way as automatic and economical as possible. In thisstudy, we propose such a rectification method, which rectifiessmartphone images acquired from arbitrary locations based on reference images.In the proposed method, we determine the camera extrinsic parameters of each smartphone images using the reference imagesrather than ground control points, and project the image to the target surface of the facility based on the determined camera parameters. The method were applied to test data acquired from a small dam toward water-area facility monitoring. The experimental results showed that the camera extrinsic parameters were determined with the accuracy of 5 cm and $0.28^{\circ}$ in the position and attitude. The accuracy of the distance measured from the rectified image was evaluated to 10 cm. With the rectified images, one can accurately determine the location and length of the target objects required for facility monitoring.

Analysis of Daily Internet·Gaming·Smartphone Habit and Preference Factors of Moral Machine (인터넷·게임·스마트폰생활 습관과 모랄머신 선호도 요인 분석)

  • Technological advancements such as artificial intelligence, robots, and big data are revolutionizing the entire society. In this paper, we analyzed preliminary teachers' daily internet/gaming/smartphone habit and the difference between preference factors in gender and diagnosis group in the situation of ethical dilemma in driverless cars. The result shows most of the male students are in high risk group of daily internet/gaming usage, and male students tend to be more immersed in games compared to female students, which negatively affects their daily lives. Students who have at least one of the daily internet/gaming/smartphone habits are more likely to be classified as high-risk group in all three of daily internet/gaming/smartphone habit. Fortunately, the students perceived themselves addicted and wanted change their habits. An analysis by a moral machine of these students tells that there is no significant difference in preference between male and female students and among diagnosis groups. However, specifically in the ethical dilemma of driverless cars, all the groups of male, female, normal, high-risk showed they have priority in pedestrians over drivers, a large number of people over small, and people who obey traffic rules over who do not. The tendency was pronounced in female group and high-risk students prioritized people who are older and in lower social status.

Relationship between Personal, Parent, School Factors and Delinquency Experience of Adolescents (청소년의 개인, 부모, 학교 요인과 비행 경험과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of social withdrawal, depression, aggression, negative parenting attitude as parental factors, friendship as school factors, academic helplessness and smartphone dependence, persistence, etc. on adolescent delinquency experiences as perceived personal factors. was carried out to understand. For this study, first year middle school students in the first year of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCPYS 2018) were analyzed. As a result of the study, it was found that depression, aggression, social withdrawal as individual factors of adolescents, negative parenting attitude as parent factors, academic helplessness, negative friendships, smartphone dependence, persistence, etc. as school factors influence delinquent behavior of adolescents. In addition, it was found that smartphone dependence and persistence play a partial mediating role in the process of personal factors, parental factors, and school factors affecting adolescents' delinquency experiences. Based on these results, first, we need to break stereotypes about adolescents and understand the accurate understanding of adolescents' delinquent behaviors and what expectations they have. Second, practical education is required for parents and grandparents for consistent parenting attitudes and effective parenting. Third, a positive self-awareness and correct human relationship formation program should be operated in order to improve the friendship among adolescents. Finally, correct smartphone usage and counseling interventions and prevention programs to alleviate impulsivity are needed.
