  • Citizen participation and Living Lab are attracting interest as one of the major strategies for the success of smart cities. In a Living Lab, citizens, who are the end-users of technology, participate in the search for alternatives to define and solve problems and repeat experiments to verify alternatives in a circular process. The purpose of this research was to present an operating model of a citizen-participating online community platform to improve urban problems, implement and test it, and show its applicability. To this end, an operation model of a citizen-participating online community platform was proposed to improve urban problems. An online platform was designed and implemented to reflect the functions pursued by the operation model. Finally, a pilot test for the function was performed using the Oma Elementary School case located in Ilsan, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do. The operating model was designed with the city's pedestrian environment and children. As a result, the sharing and communicating process of urban issues among community members worked appropriately according to the designed intention. The Living Lab coordinator could visualize and view urban issues posted by users on a map based on location information. Visualizing the urban problem as a heat map confirmed that urban problems were concentrated in a specific area.

  • - Abstract - Objectives: The purpose of this paper is to determine an efficient operation plan for a smoking cessation clinic in public health centers. To do so, the primary success factors in smoking cessation have been analyzed after classifying the smoking cessation programs of public health centers into urban and rural areas. Methods: A study was conducted with 262,837 smokers age 19 or older who were provided with smoking cessation services for more than 6 months through smoking cessation clinics at public health centers(250 clinics nationwide) from July 16, 2006 to July 15, 2007. Results: Urban areas indicated that gender, age, social security, the frequency of counseling, re-enrollment in the program, the number of cigarettes per day and alcohol problems were all factors that influenced the success of smoking cessation. On the other hand, in the rural areas the total number of counseling, re-enrollment in the program, the number of cigarettes per day and alcohol problems were the influential factors. Furthermore, the urban area confirmed that the frequency of counseling, re-enrollment in the program, the number of cigarettes per day and alcohol problems affected traveling while the rural area was affected by social security, the frequency of counseling and re-enrollment. Conclusions: It has been confirmed that the success rate and factors of smoking cessation clinics can vary depending on the region and enrollment method.

  • The important goal of urban renewal is not to reform only Physical environment but to improve people' life quality. people who have been lived in urban renewal area are grouped to owner and tenant. owner of land or house has substituent right but tenant has only house-moving money or rental house by urban renewal. But rental house condition is not good to tenant because tenant has large family, low-income and low grade and it is essential to provide rental house for low-income class and it is worth to analyze tenant house problem The purpose of this study is to analyze the problems of public rental house and to presents solutions. The study was done in following process. First, the literatures on this subject were investigated to seek the problems of public rental house. • This paper aims to elaborate the role and availability of the community enterprise as a form of methodology in local regeneration, dealing with urban social problems generated in the process of urban development. In a situation of the increasing skepticism in the capitalism, the instability in public welfare system and disintegration of community, social economy has come to the fore as an alternative. The community enterprise, especially, has shown the potential to form a virtuous cycle in local regeneration system; residents recognize local problems by themselves; discover and utilize the local resources and assets in the process of solving the problems as an entrepreneurial form; and consequently create social and economic capital which can be reinvested in the local community. Given these aspects, Korean government has implemented supporting policies for the promotion of community enterprises, and new government's "Urban Regeneration New Deal Project" are putting more importance on the role of social and community enterprises as a propulsion unit. In this regard, this paper first explores the concept and features of community enterprise in economic and social aspects, whereby it analyzes the capacity of community enterprises as principal agencies or implements in local development. Then, the development status and institutional supports for community enterprises in the UK is revealed, and investigates case studies which are playing a revolutionary role in urban regeneration or local economic revitalization. Based on this analysis, it draws the main factors for the sustainable and autogenous community enterprise as follows: flexibility in legal forms, community owned assets, diverse fund streams and invigorating social investment market, active partnership between public and private sectors, ardent enterprisers and intermediate support organizations.

  • This study shows that access to urban railway station affects the development of railway station's surrounding zone (RSSZ). For instance, the value of the property in RSSZ is likely to rise on the basis of the before and after the opening of a urban railway. Urban railway system is believed as an important solution to resolve worsening transport problems in metropolitan city. Also, the opening of a urban railway line is expected to affect the change of urban spatial structure, and to have more influence on land price of RSSZ.

  • When developers conduct a systems engineering approach the first problems that they will be faced are how to define and analyze the operational concept. In case of practical use project of MAGLEV train, those problems are also important since end products of practical use project must be assured for commercial service level. Lack of domestic developer's experience on systems engineering activity can cause a confusion a progress of the project. This study will propose a guide to establish an operational concept of project to develop or construct urban transit system.

  • It is required to response to the demand for new space due to high density of population and buildings in urban area. In particular, in case of big cities such as Seoul where the lack of new construction site due to the depletion of available space, existing buildings must be demolished for new construction. Utilization of urban underground space can be an alternative to solve for urban space problems. There are applications of underpinning methods using micropiles for existing buildings. Sometimes, the difficulties come from the compact space available for new foundation underneath the existing ones. In this paper, a novel underpinning method is introduced which can solve the space restriction problems underneath existing columns.

The internalizing and externalizing behavior problem scores including aggressive behavior of children who experienced spanking were significantly higher than children who did not. In addition, Caregivers' child rearing confidence also showed associations with the children's behavior problems. Child behavior problems showed positive relationships with caregivers' child rearing burden, and negative relationships with child rearing attitude, attachment, and cognitive stimulation.
