  • In the recent years the office sector or industry are recognized not only as a key economic activity and employment source in urban areas, but also as a factor for the changing urban spatial structure. This paper aims to review the research trends and future prospects on the office locations. The study starts with a survey of literatures by summarizing the most important previous studies on the office location research and by disclosing research deficits. And then general locational trends of office activities on the base on the different geographical scale and its current location dynamics including the influencing factors are discussed. Finally this study summarizes the outlooks on the future task within office location research.

  • We have established a wind map of Singapore, a city-state characterized its land cover by urban buildings to confirm a possibility of wind farm development. As a simple but useful approximation of urban canopy, a zero-plane displacement concept was employed. The territory is divided into 15 sectors having similar urban building layouts, and zero-plane displacement, equivalent roughness height at each sector was calculated to setup a terrain boundary condition. Annual mean wind speed and mean wind power density map were drawn by a CFD micrositing model, WindSim where Changi International Airport wind data was used as an in-situ measurement. Unfortunately, predicted wind power density does not exceed 80 $W/m^2$ at 50 m above ground level which would not sufficient for wind power generation. However, the established Singapore wind map is expected to be applied for wind environment assessment and urban planning purpose.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify urban flow and thermal environment by using the simulated Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model in the area of Gangnam Seonjeongneung, and then to compare the CFD model simulation results with that of Seonjeongneung-monitoring networks observation data. The CFD model is developed through the collaborative research project between National Institute of Meteorological Sciences and Seoul National University (CFD_NIMR_SNU). The CFD_NIMR_SNU model is simulated using Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) Local Data Assimilation Prediction System (LDAPS) wind and potential temperature as initial and boundary conditions from August 4-6, 2015, and that is improved to consider vegetation effect and surface temperature. It is noticed that the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of wind speed decreases from 1.06 to $0.62m\;s^{-1}$ by vegetation effect over the Seonjeongneung area. Although the wind speed is overestimated, RMSE of wind speed decreased in the CFD_NIMR_SNU than LDAPS. The temperature forecast tends to underestimate in the LDAPS, while it is improved by CFD_NIMR_SNU. This study shows that the CFD model can provide detailed and accurate thermal and urban area flow information over the complex urban region. It will contribute to analyze urban environment and planning.

  • This paper constructs a precise dynamics model using flightlab, a specialized program for rotor modeling and performance analysis, to simulate urban air mobility (UAM). flightlab is well-suited for detailed modeling of UAM, particularly requiring detailed aerodynamic characteristics under high-altitude and urban wind conditions. The study focuses on implementing and analyzing a lift-cruise UAM model with distributed propulsion using flightlab. The lift-cruise model integrates motors for vertical take-off and fixed-wing flight. Given the limited specific examples of such UAM models in flightlab and challenges in evaluating with conventional fixed-wing or drone models, this research implements and verifies the lift-cruise model using matlab, comparing its performance against flightlab results to validate the modeling approach. This research aims to explore the potential of flightlab for detailed UAM modeling and contribute to technological advancements in future urban transportation.

  • In general, the Maglev vehicle is ran over the elevated guideway consisted of steel or concrete structure. Since the running behaviour of the vehicle is affected by the flexibility of the guideway, the consideration of the flexibility of guideway is needed for evaluation of dynamics of both the vehicle and guideway. A new technique based on flexible multibody dynamics is proposed to model the Maglev vehicle, levitation controller, and guideway into a coupled model. To verify the technique, an urban Maglev vehicle is analyzed using the technique and discussions are carried out.

  • Since the bus is regarded as the one of the most public transportation systems, research on the safety and facilities of the bus has been increased actively in recent years. In this paper, we concern the design of the bus door mechanism that is composed of many linkages and actuators(or motors). In particular, the folding door mechanism is representative system installed in most of urban buses. To design the folding door mechanism, we construct the kinematic and dynamic analysis model fur computer simulation. Also, the dynamic analysis is accomplished by both direct dynamics and inverse dynamics. Since the folding door mechanism has many design variables, the analysis program is developed to perceive kinematic and dynamic characteristics according to the design variables and simulation conditions.
