  • In massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, linear channel estimation algorithms are widely applied owing to their simple structures. However, they may cause pilot contamination, which affects the subsequent data detection performance. Therefore, herein, for an uplink multicell massive multiuser MIMO system, we consider using an alternating projection (AP) for channel estimation to eliminate the effect of pilot contamination and improve the performance of data detection in terms of the bit error rates as well. Even though the AP is nonlinear, it iteratively searches the best solution in only one dimension, and the computational complexity is thus modest. We have analyzed the mean square error with respect to the signal-to-interference ratios for both the cooperative and non-cooperative multicell scenarios. From the simulation results, we observed that the channel estimation results via the AP benefit the following signal detection more than that via the least squares for both the cooperative and non-cooperative multicell scenarios.

  • In this paper, using received channel information, we analyze performance in MIMO multiuser system in low-to-medium mobile speed by selecting each user's constellations, powers, and transmit antennas. Given a target of symbol error, we determine each user's constellations, powers, selected tranprobability smit antennas such that the required signal-to-noise(SNR) is minimized for MMSE, V-BLAST receiver according to each user's information and channel estimation information. When we do power control with antenna selection technique through uplink channels of MIMO system in low-to-medium mobile speed, we analyze system performance with wireless channel information from Base-Station(BS) to Users. By simulation, it has been shown that the proposed antenna selection scheme for transmitting data offer better performance improvement than all transmit antennas for transmitting data.

  • One of the effective ways to increase data transmission rate is to use massive antenna technique where tens or hundreds of antennas are deployed in base station and spatial diversity gain is improved by multiuser method. If multiuser method is applied, there will be inter-user interference and maximal ratio combiner (MRC) is conventionally used to reduce the complexity of the receiver and to eliminate interference. However, as the number of mobile devices increases, the performance of the conventional receiver becomes deteriorated. To solve this problem, we propose a new detector that completely eliminates the interference from the registered devices and reduces that from the unregistered devices. Then, to reduce the complexity of the proposed scheme, we propose adaptive algorithm of the proposed scheme. Through simulation, we show that the proposed scheme has better bit error rate performance than the conventional scheme.

  • In mobile communication, the most exploratory technology of fifth generation is massive multiple input multiple output (MIMO). The minimum mean square error and zero forcing based linear detectors are used in multiuser detection for MIMO single-carrier frequency division multiple access (SCFDMA). When the received signal is detected and regularization sequence is joined in the equalization of spectral null amplification, these schemes experience an error performance and the signal detection assesses an inversion of a matrix computation that grows into complexity. Ordered successive interference cancelation (OSIC) detection is considered for MIMO SC-FDMA, which uses a posteriori information to eradicate these problems in a realistic environment. To cancel the interference, sorting is preferred based on signal-to-noise ratio and log-likelihood ratio. The distinctiveness of the methodology is to predict the symbol with the lowest error probability. The proposed work is compared with the existing methods, and simulation results prove that the defined algorithm outperforms conventional detection methods and accomplishes better performance with lower complication.

  • In this paper, a channel estimation technique based on pilot tones, which does not degrade channel estimation performance even with the existence of symbol timing offset (STO) in OFDM systems, is proposed. The proposed technique performs channel estimation by interpolating channels with respect to amplitude and phase with a minimum computational complexity, differently from the conventional interpolation techniques. The proposed technique requires neither the estimation of fine STO in advance nor trigonometric operation for phase interpolation, signifying a significant reduction in computational complexity. Since the performance of the proposed technique does not depend on the STO present in OFDM systems. It can be directly applied to the following areas in OFDM-based communication system: elimination of fine STO estimation step in the synchronization procedure, elimination of STO estimation step in multiuser uplink, and channel estimation in multi-hop relay system. It is verified by computer simulation that the proposed technique can improve the performance of channel estimation significantly in the presence of STOs, compared with previous channel estimation techniques based on pilot tones.
