In this paper, we present a new image up-sampling method which registers low resolution images to the high resolution grid when Bayesian super-resolution image processing is performed. The proposed up-sampling method interpolates high-resolution pixels using high-frequency data lying in all the low resolution images, instead of up-sampling each low resolution image separately. The interpolation is based on B-spline non-uniform re-sampling, adjusted for the super-resolution image processing. The experimental results demonstrate the effects when different up-sampling methods generally used such as zero-padding or bilinear interpolation are applied to the super-resolution image reconstruction. Then, we show that the proposed hybird up-sampling method generates high-resolution images more accurately than conventional methods with quantitative and qualitative assess measures.

In this paper, a depth image up-sampling method is put forward by using pixel classifying and jointed bilateral filtering. By analyzing the edge maps originated from the high-resolution color image and low-resolution depth map respectively, pixels in up-sampled depth maps can be classified into four categories: edge points, edge-neighbor points, texture points and smooth points. First, joint bilateral up-sampling (JBU) method is used to generate an initial up-sampling depth image. Then, for each pixel category, different refinement methods are employed to modify the initial up-sampling depth image. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the blurring artifact with lower bad pixel rate (BPR).

This paper proposes an efficient architecture of Inter layer up-sampling in decoder for SVC(scalable video coding). A register bank for horizontal and vertical up-sampling and interpolation units are designed, by introducing the proposed architecture, 41% memory bandwidth is reduced compared to JSVM. For real-time operation for HD 6 layer decoder having CIF, SD, HD resolution for CGS layer, the hardware is designed to operate at 127MHz. The gate count is about 3000.

A depth map is an image which contains 3D distance information. Generally, it is difficult to acquire a high resolution (HD), noise-removed, good quality depth map directly from the camera. Therefore, many researches have been focused on acquisition of the high resolution and the good quality depth map by up-sampling and pre/post image processing of the low resolution depth map. However, many researches are lack of effective up-sampling for the edge region which has huge impact on image perceptual-quality. In this paper, we propose an up-sampling method, based on joint bilateral filter, which improves up-sampling of the edge region and visual quality of synthetic images by adopting different weights for the edge parts that is sensitive to human perception characteristics. The proposed method has gains in terms of PSNR and subjective video quality compared to previous researches.

Drone detection can be considered as a specific sort of small object detection, which has always been a challenge because of its small size and few features. For improving the detection rate of drones, we design a Deeper SSD network, which uses large-scale input image and deeper convolutional network to obtain more features that benefit small object classification. At the same time, in order to improve object classification performance, we implemented the up-sampling modules to increase the number of features for the low-level feature map. In addition, in order to improve object location performance, we adopted the down-sampling modules so that the context information can be used by the high-level feature map directly. Our proposed Deeper SSD and its variants are successfully applied to the self-designed drone datasets. Our experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the Deeper SSD and its variants, which are useful to small drone's detection and recognition. These proposed methods can also detect small and large objects simultaneously.

In industrial quality control, when engineers use VSI control procedure they should consider both required time to signal and switching behaviors together in the case of production process changed. Up to the present, many researchers have studied fixed sampling interval (FSI) chart and variable sampling interval (VSI) chart in the points of average number of samples to signal (ANSS) and average time to signal (ATS). However, ANSS and ATS do not provide any switching information between different sampling intervals of VSI schemes. In this study, performances of two sampling intervals VSI chart and three sampling intervals VSI chart are evaluated and compared. The numerical results show that ANSS and ATS values of two sampling intervals VSI chart and three sampling interval VSI chart are similar regardless the amount of shifts. However, the values of switching behaviors including ANSW are less efficient in three sampling intervals VSI charts than in two sampling intervals VSI chart.

Due to the limitation of the bandwidth resource and capture resolution of depth cameras, low resolution depth maps should be up-sampled to high resolution so that they can correspond to their texture images. In this paper, a novel depth map up-sampling algorithm is proposed by exploiting the fractal internal self-referential feature. Fractal parameters which are extracted from a depth map, describe the internal self-referential feature of the depth map, do not introduce inherent scale and just retain the relational information of the depth map, i.e., fractal transforms provide a resolution-independent description for depth maps and could up-sample depth maps to an arbitrary high resolution. Then, an enhancement method is also proposed to further improve the performance of the up-sampled depth map. The experimental results demonstrate that better quality of synthesized views is achieved both on objective and subjective performance. Most important of all, arbitrary resolution depth maps can be obtained with the aid of the proposed scheme.

In 3D video transmission, a depth map being used for depth image based rendering (DIBR) is generally compressed by reducing resolution for coding efficiency. Errors in resolution reduction are recovered by an appropriate up-sampling method after decoding. However, most previous works only focus on up-sampling techniques to reduce errors. In this paper, we propose a novel down-sampling technique of depth map that applies different down-sampling rates on moving objects and background in order to enhance human perceptual quality. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme provides both higher visual quality and peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR). Also, our method is compatible with other up-sampling techniques.

Two phase sampling design is useful to increase estimation efficiency using deep stratification, improved non-response adjustment and reduced coverage bias. The same sampling units are commonly used for the first and the second phases in complex two-phase sampling design. In this paper we consider a sampling scheme where the first phase sampling units are clusters and the second phase sampling units are list samples. Using selected clusters in first phase requires that we list up elements in the selected clusters from the first phase and then use the list as a secondary sampling frame for the second phase sampling design. Then we select second phase samples from the listed sampling frame. We suggest an estimator based on the complex two-phase sampling design with different sampling units of each phase. Also the estimated variances of the estimator obtained by using classic and replication variance methods are considered and compared using simulation studies. For real data analysis, 2010 Korea Farm Household Economy Survey (KFHES) and 2011 Korea Agriculture Survey (KAS) are used.

This study was conducted 1) to compare the nutrient content and mineral composition of the Philoppine indigenous sheep and goats diets when grazed in common pasture during rainy season, 2) to determine the influence of sampling methods on nutrient content and mineral composition of upland (UP) and lowland (LP) native pastures, and 3) to compare these two pasture types in terms of nutrient and mineral composition. Experiment 1 used sis esophageally fistulated animals, three each for sheep and goats. Weekly extrusa collection was done for a period of three months. Experiment 2 was conducted in UP and LP; these were sampled thrice by three methods, plucking, clipping and use of three esophageally fistulated sheep. Results of Experiment 1 indicated that the diets of sheep were greater in crude protein(CP; p < 0.01) and ether extract(EE; p < 0.05) but lower in crude fiber (CF) and acid detergent lignin (ADL; p < 0.05) than that of goat diets. All other nutrient fractions including mineral composition were not significantly different from each other. Significant findings of Experiment 2 were: CP content of UP was in the order fistulated > plucked > clipped (p < 0.05); CP content of LP was greater (p <0 .05) in fistulated and plucked samples; and ash content was greater (p < 0.05) in fistulated samples of both pastures. The CP of UP was different (p < 0.05) from each sampling method but the CP of LP and ADL of both pastures were greater (p < 0.05) in clipped samples. Most minerals either macro or microminerals were greater in fistulated samples of both pastures. Pooled data of the two pastures showed that LP had better nutrient characteristics and greater mineral composition. Based from this study, there were few differences between the diets of indigenous sheep and goats when grazed in common pasture. Also, sampling methods influenced the nutrient composition of indigenous sheep diets.
