  • The utilization of unused energy is important because it can afford to offer a chance to increase energy efficiency of a heat pump system. One of the promising unused energy sources is river water. It can be used as a heat source in both heating and cooling effectively with its superior features as a secondary working fluids. In this study, the performance of a 5HP heat pump system using river water as a heat source is investigated by both experiment and simulation. According to system simulation results, performance improvement of condenser seems more effective than that of evaporator for better $COP_H$. The serial connection is also preferred among several methods to improve plate type heat exchanger performance. The experimental results show that the hot water of $50{\sim}60^{\circ}C$ can be acquired from water heat source of $5{\sim}9^{\circ}C$ with $COP_H$ of $2.7{\sim}3.5$.

  • Dynamically exploiting unused-spectrum, cognitive radio has been proposed to solve spectrum utilization problem. In cognitive radio, it is important to minimize the interference to primary service as well as to provide efficient channel allocation. In this paper, we propose a multi-channel allocation scheme based on spectrum hole prediction. Proposed scheme considered both interference length and channel capacity to limit the interference to primary user as well as to enhance system performance. Simulation results show the proposed scheme improves the system throughput.

  • Absorption chiller/heater can utilize the unused energy of the daily life waste heat, the industry waste heat. the solar energy and the earth energy. These can contribute to energy savings. But the absorption chiller/heater has a demerit that the size of absorption chiller/heater is larger than that of the vapor compression type based on same capacity. In this study. the experimental apparatus of an absorber is manufactured as a plate. which is newly applied in an absorber. The experimental apparatus is composed of a plate type absorber. which can increase the heat exchange area per unit volume and thus facilitating to deeply investigate more detail features instead of that done by the existing type. i.e.. horizontal tube bundle type. The characteristics of heat transfer and refrigeration capacity are studied experimentally. The absorption enhancement by using surfactant is closely examined through the experiment and comparative figures are presented in quantitative and qualitative analysis.

  • 본 논문에서는 ATM망에서 ABR 서비스를 효율적으로 제공하기 위해 ABR 소스가 전송하는 데이터 전송률에 기반한 폭주 제어 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 망의 가용 대역폭에 따라 각 소스에 할당될 대역폭을 계산하여 RM 셀의 ER 필드에 넣어 전송한다. ATM 스위치는 ABR 소스의 단위 시간당 전송하는 셀 전송률의 변화율에 기반하여 대역폭을 계산한다. 제안된 방법은 각 소서의 전송률 변화에 따라 망의 가용 대역폭을 활용하기 때문에 각 소스의 상태에 따라 동적으로 대역폭을 할당할 수 있고 또한 스위치가 소스의 전송률 변화에 빠르게 전송한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 방법과 기존의 동적 폭주 제어 방법에 대한 시뮬레이션 결과는 제안된 방법이 기존의 방법보다 소스의 상태에 능동적으로 대처하며 링크의 이용률이 향상됨을 보여준다.

VS/VD스위치의 ABR 서비스 향상을 위한 흐름 제어 알고리즘 (Flow Control Algorithm for ABR Service in VS/VD Switch)

  • ATM망에는 QoS 요구에 따라 CBR, rt-VBR, nrt-VBR, UBR, ABR과 같은 여러 트래픽이 존재하는데, 특히 ABR 트래픽 관리에 대해서 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. ABR은 CBR/VBR이 쓰고 남은 여분의 대역폭을 사용하는데, 그 대역폭을 효율적으로 사용하고자 많은 흐름 제어 방식이 제안되고 있다. ATM Forum의 트래픽 관리 WG(Working Group)에서는 ABR 서비스의 흐름 제어 관리를 위하여 rate-based와 credit-based, 그리고 이 두가지 방식을 혼합한 방식이 있는데, 이 중 rate-based 방식이 유동적이며 저가격·고용량의 스위치를 구현할 수 있다는 장점을 가지고 있어 표준으로 채택되어 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 rate-based 방식에서 EFCI, ER과 VS/VD(Virtual Source/Virtual Destination)등을 이용한 스위치에 대해서 알아보고, VS/VD 방식에서 쓰던 큐 임계값 방식 대신 스위치 입력단에 입력 대역폭 임계값을 이용한 흐름제어 방식을 제안하고 기존의 EPRCA 알고리즘을 응용하여 효율적으로 ABR 트래픽을 관리할 수 있는 새로운 알고리즘을 제안한다.

  • The numerical analysis and the experiment was performed to investigate the influences of shear connector on shear resistance capability. The numerical analysis's results should that the H/B ratio of shear key is more effective than angle of shear key against shear strength and shear behavior, and it is more desirable to use a half of the H/B ratio of shear key. The specimen was made with same condition as AASHTO recommended. There model tests were performed under various form of shear key, number, arrangement reinforcement and condition using epoxy. As a result of the experiment, there is little difference(or there is no difference) between the case of using epoxy on shear connector and the unused case.

Channel Prediction-Based Channel Allocation Scheme for Multichannel Cognitive Radio Networks

  • Cognitive radio (CR) has been proposed to solve the spectrum utilization problem by dynamically exploiting the unused spectrum. In CR networks, a spectrum selection scheme is an important process to efficiently exploit the spectrum holes, and an efficient channel allocation scheme must be designed to minimize interference to the primary network as well as to achieve better spectrum utilization. In this paper, we propose a multichannel selection algorithm that uses spectrum hole prediction to limit the interference to the primary network and to exploit channel characteristics in order to enhance channel utilization. The proposed scheme considers both the interference length and the channel capacity to limit the interference to primary users and to enhance system performance. By using the proposed scheme, channel utilization is improved whereas the system limits the collision rate of the CR packets.

  • In recent years, Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) is a compelling topic to many network researchers due to its low cost in deployment, ease and simplicity in installation and scalability and robustness in operation. In WMN, Gateway nodes (Access Point-AP) are in charge of steering the traffic from the external network (e.g. Internet...) to client devices or mesh clients. The limited bandwidth of wireless links between Gateways and intermediate mesh routers makes the Gateways becomes the bottleneck of the mesh network in both uplink stream and downlink stream. In this paper, we propose a mechanism to permit Gateways collaboratively work to manipulate the traffic to fit our network. They will move the traffic from congested links to the unused capacity on other links.

산림바이오매스 부존 잠재량 및 임목생장량 분석을 통한 미이용 산림바이오매스 활용 국내산 Wood pellet 생산 가능량 예측 연구 (Estimation of the production potential of domestic wood pellets using unused forest biomass by analyzing the potential volume of forest biomass and the growth of forest trees)

  • 본 연구에서는 수입되는 바이오매스를 대체하고 증가하는 국내 RPS의무비율을 보다 효과적으로 대응하기 위해 우드펠릿으로 사용가능한 국내 산림바이오매스 부존자원을 파악하기 위하여 선행연구 방법과 매년 추가로 성장하는 임목생장률을 기준으로 미이용 산림바이오매스의 양을 산정하였다. 그 결과, 임목가공 중 발생하는 부산물 중 20%를 우드펠릿 원료로 사용한다고 가정했을 경우 두 가지 추정 방법으로 도출된 평균값을 기준으로 우드펠릿 생산 가능량을 예측 하였다. 그 결과 미이용 부산물은 2016년 199만 톤, 2020년 228만 톤, 2030년 308만 톤이 발생되고 원목가공 과정에서 발생되는 임목부산물(피죽, 톱밥 등) 중 20%가 우드펠릿 원료로 활용될 경우 2016년 258만 톤/년, 2020년 295만 톤/년 2030년 398만 톤/년의 원재료가 추가되어 미이용 부산물과 원목가공 과정 중 발생되는 부산물로 생산 가능한 우드펠릿 양은 2016년에 274만 톤/년, 2020년 314만 톤/년 2030년 423만 톤/년의 우드펠릿이 생산 가능하다는 결과를 도출 하였다.

Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment of Cool-Season Grasslands Based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process Method

  • Climate change effects are particularly apparent in many cool-season grasslands in South Korea. Moreover, the probability of climate extremes has intensified and is expected to increase further. In this study, we performed climate change vulnerability assessments in cool-season grasslands based on the analytic hierarchy process method to contribute toward effective decision-making to help reduce grassland damage caused by climate change and extreme weather conditions. In the analytic hierarchy process analysis, vulnerability was found to be influenced in the order of climate exposure (0.575), adaptive capacity (0.283), and sensitivity (0.141). The climate exposure rating value was low in Jeju-do Province and high in Daegu (0.36-0.39) and Incheon (0.33-0.5). The adaptive capacity index showed that grassland compatibility (0.616) is more important than other indicators. The adaptation index of Jeollanam-do Province was higher than that of other regions and relatively low in Gangwon-do Province. In terms of sensitivity, grassland area and unused grassland area were found to affect sensitivity the most with index values of 0.487 and 0.513, respectively. The grassland area rating value was low in Jeju-do and Gangwon-do Province, which had large grassland areas. In terms of vulnerability, that of Jeju-do Province was lower and of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province higher than of other regions. These results suggest that integrating the three aspects of vulnerability (climate exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity) may offer comprehensive and spatially explicit adaptation plans to reduce the impacts of climate change on the cool-season grasslands of South Korea.
