A three-dimensional two-hemisphere model for unmanned aerial vehicle multiple-input multiple-output channels

  • The application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has recently attracted considerable interest in various areas. A three-dimensional multiple-input multiple-output concentric two-hemisphere model is proposed to characterize the scattering environment around a vehicle in an urban UAV-to-vehicle communication scenario. Multipath components of the model consisted of lineof-sight and single-bounced components. This study focused on the key parameters that determine the scatterer distribution. A time-variant process was used to analyze the nonstationarity of the proposed model. Vital statistical properties, such as the space-time-frequency correlation function, Doppler power spectral density, level-crossing rate, average fade duration, and channel capacity, were derived and analyzed. The results indicated that with an increase in the maximum scatter radius, the time correlation and level-crossing rate decreased, the frequency correlation function had a faster downward trend, and average fade duration increased. In addition, with the increase of concentration parameter, the time correlation, space correlation, and level-crossing rate increased, average fade duration decreased, and Doppler power spectral density became flatter. The proposed model was compared with current geometry-based stochastic models (GBSMs) and showed good consistency. In addition, we verified the nonstationarity in the temporal and spatial domains of the proposed model. These conclusions can be used as references in the design of more reasonable communication systems.

  • The current state of telecommunications infrastructure in the Arctic does not allow providing a wide range of required services for people, businesses and other categories, which necessitates the use of non-traditional approaches to its organization. The paper proposes an innovative approach to building a combined communication network based on tethered high-altitude platform station (HAPS) located at an altitude of 1-7 km and connected via radio channels with terrestrial and satellite communication networks. Network configuration and composition of telecommunication equipment placed on HAPS and located on the terrestrial and satellite segment of the network was justified. The availability of modern equipment and the distributed structure of such an integrated network will allow, unlike existing networks (Iridium, Gonets, etc.), to organize personal mobile communications, data transmission and broadband Internet up to 100 Mbps access for mobile and fixed subscribers, rapid transmission of information from Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). A substantiation of the possibility of achieving high network capacity in various paths is presented: inter-platform radio links, subscriber radio links, HAPS feeder lines - terrestrial network gateway, HAPS radio links - satellite retransmitter (SR), etc. The economic efficiency of the proposed solution is assessed.

  • Thermal sensors, also called thermal infrared wavelength sensors, measure temperature based on the intensity of infrared signals that reach the sensor. The infrared signals recognized by the sensor include infrared wavelength(0.7~3.0㎛) and radiant infrared wavelength(3.0~100㎛). Infrared(IR) wavelengths are divided into five bands: near infrared(NIR), shortwave infrared(SWIR), midwave infrared(MWIR), longwave infrared(LWIR), and far infrared(FIR). Most thermal sensors use the LWIR to capture images. Thermal sensors measure the temperature of the target in a non-contact manner, and the data can be affected by the sensor's viewing angle between the target and the sensor, the amount of atmospheric water vapor (humidity), air temperature, and ground conditions. In this study, the characteristics of three thermal imaging sensor models that are widely used for observation using unmanned aerial vehicles were evaluated, and the optimal application field was determined.

  • The four wing unmanned aerial vehicle owns the characteristics of small size, light weight, convenient operation and well stability. But it is easily disturbed by external environmental factors during flight with these disadvantages of short endurance and poor attitude solving ability. For solving these problems, a microprocessor based on STM32 chip is designed and the overall development is completed by the resources such as built-in timer and multi-function mode general-purpose input/output provided by the master micro controller unit, together with radio receiver, attitude meter, barometer, electronic speed control and other devices. The unmanned aerial vehicle can be remotely controlled and send radio waves to its corresponding receiver, control the analog level change of its corresponding channel pins. The master control chip can analyze and process the data to send multiple sets pulse signals of pulse width modulation to each electronic speed control. Then the electronic speed control will transform different pulse signals into different sizes of current value to drive the motor located in each direction of the frame to generate different rotational speed and generate lift force. To control the body of the unmanned aerial vehicle, so as to achieve the operator's requirements for attitude control, the PID controller based on Kalman filter is used to achieve quick response time and control accuracy. Test results show that the design is feasible.

고고도 장기체공 무인기와 의사위성/트랜시버를 활용한 국지적 대체항법에 관한 연구 (Regional Alternative Navigation Using HALE UAV, Pseudolite & Transceiver)

  • GNSS (global navigation satellite systems)은 민 군 차원에서 매우 다양한 분야에 활용되고 있다. 그러나 GNSS 신호는 재밍에 상당히 취약해 쉽게 방해 받을 가능성이 상존하기에 GNSS을 사용 불가능할 시에도 일정 수준의 항법성능을 보장하여 주는 일련의 백업 또는 대체항법 시스템이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 의사위성 또는 트랜시버를 장착한 고고도 장기체공 무인기(HALE UAV; high altitude long endurance unmanned aerial vehicle)의 개념을 도입하여 국지적인 지역에서 백업 또는 대체항법 시스템을 제안하고자 하였다. 제안된 대체항법 시스템을 기반으로 고고도 장기체공 무인기의 위치 오차를 추정하고, 이를 바탕으로 최종적인 사용자 위치정확도를 산출하여 본 연구에서의 국지적 대체항법의 성능을 나타내었다.

  • 오늘날 무인기는 기술 발전을 통해 육해상의 다양한 분야에서 이용되고 있다. 한국항공우주연구원(KARI)에서는 육상용 수직이착륙기로 개발된 틸트로터 무인기를 해상에서 운용할 수 있도록 임무영역 확장을 고려하고 있다. 틸트로터 무인기의 효과적인 해상운용을 위해서는 함상이착륙이 필요하지만 해상은 지상에 비해 염분, 연무, 바람등 기상영향을 많이 받는다. 또한 지상과는 달리 선박 운동으로 인한 착륙지점의 운동이 발생하며, 자동 함상착륙을 어렵게 만든다. 이러한 무인기 함상이착륙을 위하여 본 논문에서는 파고에 따른 선박 운동을 모델링 하고, 무인기 시뮬레이터를 통해 시험평가한 결과를 제시하고 있다.

  • 멀티로터 UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)를 이용해서 수집한 음향 데이터는 모터나 프로펠러에서 발생하는 자체 소음이나 비행 중 발생하는 바람 소리 등으로 인해 음향 품질이 크게 손상되는 문제가 발생한다. 멀티로터 UAV 환경에서는 목표 음향의 크기뿐만 아니라 위상도 크게 손상되기 때문에 크기와 위상을 모두 고려해서 음향을 향상시킬 필요가 있다. 하지만 위상은 크기와 달리 구조적인 특징이 잘 나타나지 않으므로 향상시키는 것이 쉽지 않다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 크기와 위상을 모두 표현할 수 있는 복소 스펙트로그램을 기초로 잡음을 제거해서 목표 음향의 품질을 향상시키는 CNN 기반 복소 스펙트로그램 향상 방법을 제안한다.

  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are remotely piloted or self-piloted aircraft by inputted program in advance or artificial intelligence. In this study Aileron and Elevator are used to control the movement of airplane for horizontal and vertical flights about its longitudinal and lateral axis. In an introduction, the drone was linearly modeled by extracting aerodynamic parameter through flight test and simulation, lift and drag coefficient corresponding to angle of attack, changes of pitching moment coefficient. In the main subject, the flight simulation was performed after constructing hardware using TMS320F2812 from TI company and PID with lateral and longitudinal controller for horizontal and vertical flights. Flying characteristics of two system were estimated and compared through real flight test with hardware equipped algorithm and adaptive algorithm that was applied to consider external factors such as turbulence. In conclusion the control performance of the controller with proposed algorithm was streamlined at lateral and longitudinal controller respectively, we will discuss guidance command to pass way point.

  • In unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), the high temperature results from friction among the air, combustion of fuel in engine and combustion gas of a nozzle. The high temperature may cause serious damages in UAV structure. The Functionally Graded Material (FGM) is chosen as a material of thc engine duct structure. Thermal stress analysis of FGM is performed in this paper. FGM is composed of two constituent materials that are mixed up according to the specific volume fraction distribution in order to withstand high temperature. Therefore, hoop stress, axial stress and shear stress of duct with 2 layers, 4 layers and 8 layers FGM are compared and analyzed respectively. In addition, the creep behavior of FGM used in duct structure of an engine is analyzed for better understanding of FGM characteristics.

무인항공기 개발비행시험을 위한 절차 및 항목에 대한 연구 (Study on Procedures and Items for Development Flight Test of UAV)

  • Unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs) are increasingly used in civilian areas as well as in military areas due to the technological advancement of UAVs. In response to the increasing demand in UAVs, many studies are under way to integrate the airspace between manned aircraft and UAV. The development of flight test can secure the performance and flight characteristics of the designed aircraft. And the capability of research and development can be expanded through the accumulation of technical data. It is also essential to verify the correct performance and characteristics of development aircraft themselves. In this paper, we propose development flight test procedures and items for civilian UAVs.
