  • This paper presents a fully synthesizable low power interconnect bus for millimeter-scale wireless sensor nodes. A segmented ring bus topology minimizes the required chip real estate with low input/output pad count for ultra-small form factors. By avoiding the conventional open drain-based solution, the bus can be fully synthesizable. Low power is achieved by obviating a need for local oscillators in member nodes. Also, aggressive power gating allows low-power standby mode with only 53 gates powered on. An integrated wakeup scheme is compatible with a power management unit that has nW standby mode. A 3-module system including the bus is fabricated in a 180 nm process. The entire system consumes 8 nW in standby mode, and the bus achieves 17.5 pJ/bit/chip.

  • Between January 1971 and December 1580 fifteen patients diagnosed of adenocarcinoma of the endometrium, stage II seen and treated at the University of Michigan Hospitals. are reviewed. Ten patients were treated with radiation therapy alone. five received hysterectomy after radiation. The five year survival of the patients receiving radiation and surgery was $100\%$ although one of them died after 62 month aster treatment. Of those receiving radiotherapy alone two died at i and 24months after therapy. All of the patients died of distant metastasis. Radiation cystitis was observed among surgically treated patients. while proctitis was observed in 3 cases receiving radiation alone. Though the number of cases reported is small due to rarity of the disease. it appears that radiation alone could provide reasonable tumor control. Also it appears that preoperative irradiation might lead to a longer survival. One patient who survived 62 months had para-aortic node involvement.

  • The record of radiation therapy cases during a five year period at the University of Michigan Hospitals has been analyzed. Of a total of 73 adenocarcinoma of prostate, the majority belonged to Stage B and C which represented 49 and 20 cases, respectively. The mortality rate after irradiation was clearly related to the tumor stage. Local irradiation resulted in $88\%$ of the local control of well·differentiated adenocarcinomas. Stage C cases had $50\%$ mortality, whereas that of Stage B patients was $14\%$. Results of this study are in general agreement with previous data in terms of the local disease control after irradiation and provide a basis for conservative radiotherapy regimen as an approach in the treatment of localized prostatic carcinomas.
