This paper is to explore the direction of international software protection laws, either copyright or patent right, by examining the current situations in the United States, European countries, Asia including Korea and the WTO/TRIPs Agreement. According to the comparative legal systems, each court and office gives both copyrightability and patentability of software by a stronger and appropriate intellectual property protection system.

The article suggests criteria of dividing transport systems into systems of limited and open access. Possibilities of implementing principles of the open access in conjunction with the adaptive control at the railway transport have been analyzed. The author makes a grounded conclusion that the development of transport systems based on the open access and adaptive control can play a positive role in overcoming the global instability of the economy and form prerequisites of its stable grows.

Ascent, a 25 story residential tower located in Milwaukee, WI (USA), will become the tallest timber building in the world upon completion. HCI (Human Computer Interface)is important key of software design. Effectiveness and productivity of CAD software is creation is not study actively in architectural part. HYPOLED is a collaborative European project that commenced in 2008. It is targeted toward "High-Performance OLED-Microdisplays for Mobile Multimedia HMD and Projection Applications". In this paper, we describe the initial objectives and present draft specifications for devices, the personal display system and micro-projection unit. Initial results are shown and discussed.

Load Management, is originated from efficiency improvement of energy use, or energy conservaion. Traditionally, electric utilities have constructed new power plants to meet the steadily increasing electricity demand. Power development planning, however, is becoming more difficult in the countries like Korea, Japan, and the United States, and increasing concerns about global environmental problems necessitate changes from existing supply-side options based on fossil-fuel to environmentally agreeable supply strategies. This paper discusses the demand side management strategy with emphasis on the concept, implementation scheme, and current practices employed in utilities.

Focusing on a product, this paper reconstructs the concept of technological systems first introduced by Carlsson and Stankiewicz (1991). Based on the model and our earlier works, we compare the salient features of technological systems for computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools in Korea, Sweden, and the United States.. We also try to measure the performance of the systems in an international comparison. Major findings are as follows: (1) The length of 'learning period' for local (national) technological system is substantial, even though it is a catching-up case. (2) The key success factor of the technological system appears to be the connectivity among various actors or infrastructures, rather than just the existence or formation of those. (3) In three countries' experience, the government played an important role in the formation of each own technological system. (4) The performance of Korea's technological system for CNC machine tools during the past two decades(1981-97) seems to be better than that of Sweden and the U.S. Lastly, many policy implication are presented.

The number of natural disasters has risen dramatically such as earthquakes, typhoons and floods. However, the scope of disasters expand in today's society due to the rapidly changing environment. This study is to suggest improvements for disaster management system in defense field in order to reduce possible loss or damage from a huge disaster. Through two case studies from the United States and Japan, this research aims to support policy making of disaster management system in defense field.

GPS is the global Navigation Satellite System which is developed by the United States Department of Defense as an abbreviation of the Global Positioning System. The GPS uses a constellation of 24 Medium Earth Orbit satellites that transmit precise microwave signals, that enable GPS receivers to determine their location, speed, direction, and time. Following, the shooting down of Korean Air Lines Flight 007 in 1983. President Ronald Reagan issued a directive making the system available free for civilian use as a common good. Since then, GPS has become a widely used aid to navigation worldwide, and a useful tool for map-making, land surveying, commerce, scientific uses, and hobbies such as geocaching. GPS also provides a precise time reference used in many applications including scientific study of earthquakes, and synchronization of telecommunications networks.
