In this investigative study, the unit mass discharge for the major water quality parameters such as flowrate, SS, BOD, CODmn, CODcr, TN, TP from textile spinning/weaving industry nearby Nakdong river basin was estimated. To represent the respective industries, three companies from hundreds of textile spinning/weaving industries located in Nakdong river basin was carefully selected based on its manufacturing goods, flowrate and location for the estimation of unit mass discharge based on unit operation and process. There was a drastic decrease of unit mass discharge estimation between influents and effluents of water quality parameters, which represents the removal capacity of wastewater treatment plant. With the advent of new regulation on the imposed payment proportional to the total amount of pollutants discharge into the water body, the concept of cleaner production technology should be employed in the unit operation/process in wastewater treatment plant as well as textile manufacturing procedure to minimize the levy on the pollutants discharge. Unit mass discharge estimations of unit process (estimated in this study) in major water quality parameters (SS, BOD, COD, TN and TP) based on land were similar to those of composite process (estimated by National Institute of Environmental Research). But the unit mass discharge estimations of unit process in BOD and CODmn based on total sale were much higher than those of composite one while in SS, TN and TP similar to each other. For the detailed estimation of the imposed payment, unit mass estimation based on unit process should be further emphasized.
The predictive capacity of wastewater treatment facility in the industrial park was estimated by the traditional method and on-the-spot survey such as certification of wastewater report and the invoices of water supply and ground water supply. The ratios of a converted wastewater to supplied industrial water between traditional method and on-the-spot survey in the estimation methods were different. By using traditional method, the business type of clothes, accessary and fur production had 77.18 % of waste ratio of wastewater and $10.72m^3/day{\cdot}1000m^2$ unit mass of wastewater as the highest among 9 business types. With the respect to the on-the-spot survey, food manufacturing business type had 75 % of waste ratio of wastewater and $8.35m^3/day{\cdot}1000m^2$ unit mass of wastewater as the highest values. The amount of wastewater from on-the-spot survey method was 541 $m^3/day$ less than one from traditional method.
Nonpoint source pollutant loading from watershed may cause a problem to the water quality of the reservoir and stream. The characteristics of stream flow and water quality were monitored to investigate the runoff loading of the Namdae-cheon watershed from May in 1999 to October in 2003. Stage-discharge rating curve at the stream gauging site was established, and annual stream runoff of the study watershed was estimated as 499.4∼1,330.8mm during four years. The concentrations of total-nitrogen and total-phosphorus of stream water quality ranged from 0.76 to 6.95mg/L and from 0.0010 to 0.2276 mg/L, respectively, where T-N was generally higher than the water quality standard 1.0 mg/L for agricultural water use. The loads by unit generation of pollutant mass with respect to population, livestock, land use in this watershed were calculated. The runoff pollutant loadings by concentrations of total-N and total-P were estimated during study period, where the annual runoff loading of total-P was much less than the load by pollutant mass unit generation. The relations between stream discharge and water quality were analysed, and there was a high correlation for total-N but low for total-P. These results will be used to develop the monitoring techniques and water quality management system of agricultural watershed.
In this study, some of the model verification results of STREAM (Spatio-Temporal River-basin Ecohydrology Analysis Model), a newly-developed hybrid watershed model, are presented for the runoff processes of nonpoint source pollution. For verification study of STREAM, the model was applied to a test watershed and a sensitivity analysis was also carried out for selected parameters. STREAM was applied to the Mankyung River Watershed to review the applicability of the model in the course of model calibration and validation against the stream flow discharge, suspended sediment discharge and some water quality items (TOC, TN, TP) measured at the watershed outlet. The model setup, simulation and data I/O modules worked as designed and both of the calibration and validation results showed good agreement between the simulated and the measured data sets: NSE over 0.7 and $R^2$ greater than 0.8. The simulation results also include the spatial distribution of runoff processes and watershed mass balance at the watershed scale. Additionally, the irrigation process of the model was examined in detail at reservoirs and paddy fields.
Mass balance and unit load of pollutants were investigated at paddy field area during irrigation periods in 1999 and 2000. The amounts of irrigation water during irrigation periods were 3,690mm in 1999 and 3,160mm in 2000. The concentration of surface outflow is not so high as that of irrigation because 44% of irrigation water discharge without entering the paddy plots. The unit loads of pollutants during irrigation periods were estimated 19.2kg/ha for T-N, 0.29kg/ha for T-P and 47.5kg/ha for COD.
Incineration is conceptually sound as a waste treatment technology. There is, however, concern over its emissions when it is improperly designed and operated. An electrostatic precipitator is one of the most commonly used devices to control particulate emissions from boilers, incinerators and some other industrial processes. In this work, a modular electrostatic precipitator with sizing of $1m{\times}1m{\times}1m$ was developed for removal of particulate matter from the exhaust gases of a small waste incinerator. Its design was based on a simple wire-and-plate concept. The corona discharge wires were connected to a positive high-voltage pulse generator, while the collection plates were grounded. The high-voltage pulse generator was used to produce the corona discharge field between the individual discharge wire and the collection plate. The particulate-laden exhaust gas flow was directed across the corona discharge field. The charged particles were deflected outward and collected on the plate. The collection efficiency was evaluated as a mass loading ratio between the difference at the inlet and the outlet to the particulate loading at the inlet of the precipitator. The collection efficiency of this modular electrostatic precipitator design was approximately 80 %.
A reciprocating compressor unit with variable rotating speed driven by BLDC motor is mounted Inside hermetic chamber on an internal suspension composed of 4 roil springs and a discharge pipe. A method for predicting the dynamic behavior of compressor body is required for a reduction of transmitted vibrations. The mechanical characteristics of spring and discharge pipe stiffness properties have been obtained from experimental tests and mass moment of inertia of the compressor body iron CAD. To confirm the vibration model for the compressor body, free vibration analyses are performed with theoretical and experimental methods. results for analytical investigations on the dynamic behavior of the compressor body and the transmitted forces to the hermetic chamber through the suspension elements are Presented.

Concentration of pollutants and discharge were monitored regularly at paddy field area during irrigation periods. The amounts of irrigation water during irrigation water during irrigation periods in 1999 were 3690mm. The concentration of pollutants in ponded water are high during fertilizer application period. The ratio of discharge of direct runoff Q$\_$D/ to the total runoff is 9%. The ratios of the load of direct runoff L$\_$D/ to the total load L$\_$T/ are 6% for T-N, 16% for T-P and 16% for COD. It was found that the ratios of the concentration are 0.7 for T-N, 1.8 for T-P and 1.9 for COD. The unit load of T-N, T-P and COD during irrigation periods were 12.1kg/㏊, 0.42kg/㏊ and 85.7kg/㏊, respectively
