This paper was carried out from 15 June to 24 December in 2000 in Lake İznik of Turkey, to determine catch per unit effort (CPUE) and size composition of crayfish, Astacus leptodactylus Eschscholtz 1823, captured by fyke-nets of local fishermen. The average CPUE of all size groups was found as 1.65 crayfish/fyke-net/night for fishing season in 2000, but 26.4% of which was below the legal minimum size (crayfish<90 mm). The average CPUE of legal-sized (crayfish$\geq$90 mm) crayfish was 1.10 crayfish/fykenet/night. The annual catch of crayfish was estimated as 2990 tonnes. The length and weight compositions of crayfish captured in the fyke-nets have varied between 60 and 130 mm, and 6 and 71 g, respectively. The mean length and weight were found as 95.5 mm and 28.8 g for all size groups and 100.1 mm and 33.0 g for legal-sized individuals.

This study is to investigate the insulation performance of lightweight concrete using recycled lightweight aggregate, to develop lightweight concrete products which have an excellence on the insulation performance are satisfied with properties of building materials. As a result of this study, recycled EPS aggregate is considered to have an independent pores which is closed by dense partitions. So, it is showed that the insulation performance of lightweight concrete using recycled EPS aggregate are excellent. Especially, in the case of lightweight concrete under conditions of replacement ratio over 100%, it is considered that insulation performance is very excellent as thermal conductivity is showed about 0.2kcal/mh$^{\circ}C$. According to considering the relation between ultrasonic pulse velocity, unit weight and thermal conductivity through the graph, the result of relation between ultrasonic pulse velocity, unit weight and thermal conductivity on the graph expressed their high interaction shown as direct proportion on the graph. So that it is possible to extract the insulation performance of lightweight concrete using recycled EPS aggregate by ultrasonic pulse velocity and unit weight.

This paper reports on a recent investigation to determine criteria for the design of rubble-mound breakwaters. Existing theories and empirica] equations have been carefully reviewed and a new relation is proposed for the determination of optimum weight of armor unit of rubble-mound breakwater. A new parameter is introduced into the new semi-theoretical equation, which is closely related with the surface particle velocity of wave motion. The laboratory data reported by van der Meer(1987) were used for the determination of proper relations of empiricat parameters introduced into the new empirical equation.
This study was carried out for the purpose of industrial reuse of effluent released from activated sludge unit by $\gamma $-ray irradiation technique. The dissolved organic carbon in the effluent of an activated sludge unit is mostly refractory or inert material which are difficult to be degraded by micro organism. The effluent generated from activated sludge unit was irradiated with Co$^{60}$ $\gamma $-ray under condition of air bubbling. The effects of irradiation on the pH, COD, TOC, color, molecular weight distribution were investigated by membrane filtration and u.v.-spectrum analysis. With increasing dose, the TOC was decreased smoothly. The COD was increased at lower dose, while the COD was decreased at higher dose. The TOC and COD, however, were decreased smoothly when TiO$_{2}$ was added to the solution. It was thought that the differential decreasing trend of COD and TOC in according to the absence or presence of TiO$_{2}$ was due to the molecular weight distribution shifted from group of higher molecular weight to group of lower one which are more easy to be decomposed. The removal efficiency of color was 71.5% and it was increased to 85.7% when TiO$_{2}$ was added to the solution. The $\gamma $-ray irradiation was effective on the production of chlorine.
A comparative Life Cycle Assessment(LCA) among three types of Electric Motor Unit(EMU) Interior Panel(IP) was conducted. A functional unit for comparative LCA is a weight of IP for 1 EMU. It assumed that Manufacturing stage and its upstream processes, Use stage and End of Life(EoL) stage are included in the boundary of product system. For Use stage, the weight of IP causes electricity consumption. It is assumed that aluminum IP is recycled and the other IPs are incinerated at the EoL stage. As comparison results, aluminum IP has much larger environmental impact(5.162pt) than others(FRP IP; 4.069pt, Phenol IP; 4.053pt) even though recycling consideration is included. The manufacturing stage of aluminum has relative big envrionmental impact(1.824pt) and this point make the most important difference from other IPs(FRP IP; 0.1617pt, Phenol IP; 0.4534pt)). Despite of large weight difference between FRP IP(888.56Kg) and phenol IP(315Kg), the final environmental impact result has only little difference(0.016pt, 0.39%). With this result, the EMU designer can choose IP with a consideration of the environmental performance of IP.

The soil test data of 28 earth dams, scheduled to be constructed in Kore3, were selected for this study. The safety factors of their side slops were computed using Fellenius' "slice Method" by computer. The results summarized in this study are as follows; 1. Dam sections can be easily determined by fig.10 without a time consuming trial and error calculations of assumed sections. 2. For the economical design of earth dam sections, it was found that more cohesive soil was suitable for lower dams(dam height less than 25m) and soils with a higher friction angle was better for higher dams 3. In the case that used soil materials have the same Internal friction angle, side slope increase was almost same. 4. The relationship between side slope and friction angle was found as log.S=a tan ø+b (Fig. 7) 5. The relationship between side slope and cohesion (c) was also found as log. S=a c+b (Fig. 8) 6. The change of safety factors due to the change of central core materials was very little (Table-2) 7. The decrease of safety factors according to the unit weight increase of embankment materials was negligible. 8. In general the relationship between the wet unit weight and the saturated unit weight was r sat = (rt)$^2$+0. 140. This study will contribute to the determination of economic and safe planning and designing of earth dams, embankments and cutting side slopes.

Currently, research on construction materials using industrial by-products is being conducted in the Inhan construction industry due to CO2 emissions during the cement production process and a shortage of aggregates. Among these, research has been conducted to use steel furnace slag as an aggregate by reducing the reactivity of free-CaO, which has the characteristic of expanding through open storage, aging, and rapid cooling. However, research on the use of powder as a cement admixture or substitute is insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the properties of fresh mortar using steel furnace slag powder. The mixing ratio of steel furnace slag powder was divided into three levels: 0, 20, and 40 (%), and the test items were flow and unit weight. The experimental results showed that as the mixing ratio of steel furnace slag powder increased, flow and unit weight tended to increase. Therefore, it is expected to have a positive effect on improving workability or strength as a cement admixture.

The quantities of heavy weight waste glass have been progressively increased because of the rapid industrialization and the change of quality of life. And, the most of them are not recycled. The heavy weight waste glass have been treated by illegal dumping or being buried in landfills. Meanwhile, in order to ensure the safety of nuclear power plant structure, the excellent construction materials are socially required for shielding performance. Concrete is the most widely used construction material, the huge amounts of natural resources are required to make concrete. So, it is needed to investigate the possibility of recycling of heavy weight waste glass as concrete material ingredient. In this study, the heavy weight waste glass was evaluated for the applicability as fine aggregate of shielding concrete. From the results, when heavy weight waste glass was replaced as fine aggregate of mortar, shielding performance can be improved due to increasing in unit weight of mortar. It showed that the strength decreased according to mixing of heavy weight waste glass, Non-Washed heavy weight waste glass is more advantageous in the strength development than Washed case.
This study was carried out to see whether Gastrophysa viridula (Degeer) (Coleoptera : Chrysomelidae) could be used as a biological control agent for Rumex obtusifolius L., with human manipulation of the beetle population. The study was consisted of three experimental sets : Wet-Dry experiment (the wet weight Vs dry weight relationship of Rumex obtusifolius L.), Greenhouse feeding experiment, and Field experiment. There was a significant correlation between the total wet and dry weight of Rumex obtusifolius as follows : Total dry weight : -0.23542+ (0.17514${\times}$Total wet weight) ($R^2$=0.9317, p=0.047, T=16.927 (dF=21)). In the Greenhouse feeding experiment, the result was very promising. The relationship between the density unit of the beetles and the growth of the plant is given below (20 day) : Plant growth =105.8+(-34.4${\times}$Density unit) ($R^2$=0.76, p=0.13). A repeated introduction of the beetle population into the field vegetation of R. obtusifolius from April to October is suggested to see the beetle's grazing ability on the plant. This study shows that the potential grazing power of the beetle on Rumex obtusifolius was enough to defoliate the plants, but it was able to recover from its root reserves. The practical question remains as to whether repeated additions (by man) of the beetles to Rumex obtusifolius could eliminate them.
On a urea-molasses-straw (3:15:82; UMS) based diet effect of graded levels of cottonseed cake (CSC) supplementation on the performance of native (Bos indicus) bulls has been studied for 167 days. Eighteen growing bulls of $129{\pm}13.4kg$ weight and about 14 months old were randomly allocated to three dietary treatments designed in a completely randomized design, having six animals in each treatment. Three dietary treatments were 0, 0.5 and 1.0 kg CSC per head/d. In addition, each animal also received ad lib. UMS, 4 kg Napier (Pennisetum purpureum) grass, 500 g of each of rice and wheat bran and 60 g mineral mix daily. For unit increase in CSC, total DM intake was increased by $1g/kg\;W^{0.75}/d$ but the straw DM intake decreased by $0.54g/kg\;W^{0.75}/d$. Whole gut digestibility of DM and OM was not effected but N and ADF digestibility increased with incremental increase in dietary CSC. For unit (1kg) increase in dietary CSC intake N and ADF digestibility increased by 10 (${\pm}1.155$) and 3 (${\pm}1.732$) unit respectively. Microbial N yield for the 0, 0.5 and 1.0 kg CSC were 5.63, 5.28 and 5.16 g/kg OM apparently fermented in the rumen respectively. For each gram increase in CSC, N intake and N balance increased by 0.626 (${\pm}0.015$) and 0.625 (${\pm}0.0814$) mg/kg $W^{0.75}/d$. High apparent N balance was contrasted with low live weight gain, e.g., for 1 kg increase in CSC supplementation, live weight gain increased by only 0.077 (${\pm}0.00288$) kg/d ($r^{2}=0.99$; p<0.01). The conversion efficiency was 12.98 kg CSC per kg of live weight gain. It was concluded that unless the protein is being protected from the rumen degradation, addition of CSC to UMS diet would have little nutritional or economic advantages.
