불교란 풍화잔적토의 직접전단시험 (Direct Shear Test of Undisturbed Weathered Residual Soils)

  • A weathered residual soil is a soil-like material derived from the in situ weathering and decomposition of rock which has not been transported from its original location. Undisturbed sampling of residual soils is extremely difficult, which has an important effect on investigating the strength and compression characteristics. Thus, a special undisturbed sampling device (direct shear box with shoe) was developed and undisturbed samples were successfully obtained for direct shear tests, Direct shear testing was conducted under unsoaked and soaked condition. As a result, the shear strength of soaked samples was less than that of unsoaked samples, and it was verified that direct shearing of undisturbed samples can evaluate reasonably the shear strength and the slope stability.

화강풍화토의 거동 특성 규명을 위한 비교란 시료채취기 개발 (Undisturbed Sampler for Characterizing the Behaviour of Weathered Granite Residual Soils)

  • 화강풍화토는 국내 지반의 2/3이상을 차지할 정도로 광범위하게 분포하며 도로, 지하철, 사면조성, 건물의 기초설치 등 여러 건설현장에서 빈번히 접할 수 있다. 화강풍화토의 입자구조는 풍화정도와 모암의 구성광물에 의해 영향을 받고 특히 보통의 구속 암에서도 입자 파쇄가 발생하며 비교란 지반의 특성과 다짐토 지반의 특성이 큰 차이가 있다. 본 연구에서는 현장에서 직접 삼축시험용 비교란 화강풍화토시료를 채취할 수 있는 시료채취기를 개발하였고 이를 이용하여 채취한 비교란 시료와 정적으로 다져진 시료에 대하여 공진주/비틂 전단시험과 삼축압축시험을 수행하였다. 시험결과로부터 미소한 변형률에서의 거동특성과 비교란 및 다짐 화강풍화토의 강도특성을 검토하였다. 대상으로 한 지반의 경우 1% 이내의 미소한 변형률 영역에서는 다짐시료와 비교란시료의 탄성계수가 거의 일치하였으며 강도의 뚜렷한 차이 또한 발견할 수 없었다. 비교란화강풍화토의 경우는 시료의 불균일성 등으로 인하여 파괴시의 변형률이 매우 넘게 분포하였다.

수침 및 교란 효과에 따른 풍화잔적토의 전단강도 특성 (The Characteristics of Shear Strength on Weathered Residual Soils for the Effect of Soaking and Disturbance)

  • 풍화잔적토는 불교란 시료를 채취하기가 곤란하기 때문에 전단강도를 산정하는데 있어서 어려움을 겪고 있다 본 연구에서는 직접 전단시험용 불교란 시료를 용이하게 채취하기 위해서 슈 장착 직접 전단상자를 개발하였으며, 성공적으로 불교란 시료를 채취할 수 있었다. 채취된 분교란 시료의 직접 전단시험을 통해서 포화조건에 따른 전단강도의 변화를 규명하였다. 그리고 교란에 따른 풍화잔적토의 전단거동을 규명하기 위해서 정적시료 성형장치를 제작하였고, 자연함수비 상태에서는 교란에 따른 강도저하가 나타나지만, 수침시에는 강도가 유사함을 확인하였다. 불교란 시료에 대해서 직접전단시험과 삼축압축시험시의 강도를 비교한 결과, 직접 전단시험시 수침시료의 강도가 삼축압축시험의 결과와 유사한 경향을 나타내었다. 그리고 대상 붕괴사면에 대한 역해석을 수행한 결과, 슈 장착 직접 전단상자를 이용하면 풍화잔적토 사면에서의 전단강도 산정이 가능하리라고 판단되었다.

  • The relationships between compression index, $C_c$, which is the slope of the e-log p curve from consolidation test, and other physical properties of remolded and undisturbed clays were examined. After examined, it is clarified that the $C_c$-initial porosity, $n_0$, relationship is better correlation than the $C_c$-other factors relationship, and a new $C_c$ equations using $n_0$ for remolded and undisturbed clays were suggested.

Diversity of Ectomycorrhizal Fungi of Pinus densiflora Siebold et Zucc. Seedlings in a Disturbed Forest on Mt. Songni

  • This study was conducted to investigate ectomycorrhizal (ECM) diversity on Pinus densiflora seedlings in a disturbed pine forest. Pine seedlings less than one year old were collected from disturbed and undisturbed sites in the Mt. Songni region. The belowground ECM fungal communities colonizing P. densiflora seedlings were studied using morphotyping and DNA sequencing. The relative abundance of ECM root tips was significantly higher in the undisturbed sites than in the disturbed sites, and the ECM species diversity was lower in the disturbed sites than in the undisturbed sites. In addition, the ECM community composition was significantly different in the disturbed and undisturbed forest sites.

대형 sample을 이용한 해안 연약지반 압밀특성에 관한 연구 (Consolidation characteristics of soft ground using huge sample)

  • To investigate the effect of sample size on coefficient of consolidation of non-homogeneous soil, the result of a large size consolidation test using a huge undisturbed sample with $1200mm(D){\times}2000mm(H)$ in dimension is compared with that of oedometer test using undisturbed small sample. In addition, test results are compared with those of same test using remold sample. Experimental results show that, due to the lump of sand/silt was mixed in sample, the coefficient of consolidation of undisturbed samples have a difference for each tests. Whereas, the difference of coefficient of consolidation between remolded large and small samples is not found. Because sample size affects the test results, sample must be carefully selected for non-homogeneous soil.

Ectomycorrhizal Fungal Communities of Red Pine (Pinus densiflora) Seedlings in Disturbed Sites and Undisturbed Old Forest Sites

  • This study aimed to investigate differences in ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungal communities between disturbed sites and undisturbed old forest sites. ECM root tips of Pinus densiflora were collected from 4 sites disturbed by human activities and 3 undisturbed old forest sites adjacent to the disturbed sites. Results in this study showed that the number of ECM root tips, species diversity, and number of species were significantly higher in the disturbed sites than in the undisturbed sites, suggesting that the ECM fungal community structure was affected by the degree of disturbance.

불교란 점토 압밀시험 결과의 새로운 해석법 (A New Analysis Method of the Consolidation Test Data for an Undisturbed Clay)

  • In this study, the results of a series of consolidation test for undisturbed Ariake clay in Japan were analyzed by three methods, e-log p (e: void ratio, p: consolidation pressure), log e-log p and n-log p (n: porosity). Moreover, the characteristics of each analysis method were studied. For undisturbed Ariake clay, the log o-Log p and the n-log p relationships can be found as two groups of straight lines of different gradients, but both the elastic consolidation and plastic consolidation regions of e-log p relationship are expressed as a curve. In this paper, the porosity of consolidation yield n$\_$y/, consolidation yield stress p$\_$y/, and the gradient of the plastic consolidation region C$\_$p/ were represented by the log e-log p method, and n$\_$c/, P$\_$cn/ and C$\_$cn/ were represented by the n-log p method. The meaning and the relationships of each value were studied, and the interrelationships among compression indices i.e. C$\_$cn/, C$\_$p/ and C$\_$c/ are obtained from each analysis method as a function of initial porosity n$\_$0/.

Experimental study of the effect of microstructure on the permeability of saturated soft clays

  • The effect of microstructure on the permeability of two saturated marine clays was studied through a series of falling head permeability tests and mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) tests. The key findings from this experimental study include the following results: (1) The permeability of undisturbed specimens is larger than that of reconstituted specimens at the same void ratio due to different soil fabrics, i.e., the pore size distributions (PSDs), even though they have the similar variation law in the permeability versus void ratio. (2) Different permeabilities of undisturbed and reconstituted specimens at the same void ratio are mainly caused by the difference in void ratio of macro-pores based on the MIP test results. (3) A high relevant relation between $C_k$ ($C_k$ is the permeability change index) and $e*_{10}$, can be found by normalizing the measured data both on undisturbed or reconstituted specimens. Hence, the reference void ratio $e*_{10}$, can be used as a reasonable parameter to identify the effect of soil fabric on the permeability of saturated soft clays.
