Long Range and High Axial Load Capacity Nanopositioner Using Single Piezoelectric Actuator and Translating Supports

  • Existing long range piezoelectric motors with friction based transmission mechanisms are limited by the axial load capacity. To overcome this problem, a new linear piezoelectric motor using one piezoelectric actuator combined with a novel stepping mechanism is reported in this paper. To obtain both long range and fine accuracy, dual positioning control strategy consisting of coarse positioning and fine positioning is used. Coarse positioning is used for long travel range by accumulating motion steps obtained by piezoelectric actuator. This is followed by fine positioning where required accuracy is obtained by fine motion displacement of piezoelectric actuator. This prototype is able to provide resolution of 20 nanometers and withstand a maximum axial load of 300N. At maximum load condition, the positioner can move forward to a travel distance of 5mm at a maximum speed of 0.4 mm/sec. This design of nanopositioner can be used in applications for ultra precision positioning and grinding operations where high axial force capacity is required.

전기로 산화슬래그 잔골재와 석회암 골재의 조합사용이 80MPa급 초고강도 콘크리트의 공학적 특성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Combinations of Electric Arc Furnace Slag and Lime Stone aggregates on Engineering Properties of Ultra High Strength Concrete with 80MPa)

  • 본 연구에서는 초고강도 콘크리트의 경제적인 제조 방안을 제시하기 위하여 국내에 유통되는 석회암골재와 전기로 산화슬래그를 잔골재로 조합사용하여 이들이 80MPa급 초고강도 콘크리트의 제반 물성에 미치는 영향을 실험적으로 고찰하고자 한다. 골재종류로서 화강암 굵은골재, 석회암 굵은골재 조합에 잔골재로서 석회암, 화강암을 사용하였고, 추가적으로 석회암 잔골재에 전기로 산화슬래그 잔골재를 25% 및 50% 치환한 조합으로 골재를 선정하였다. 연구결과에 따르면, 석회암 잔굵은골재를 사용한 경우와 여기에 전기로 산화슬래그 잔골재를 치환한 경우 설계된 고성능 감수제량으로도 목표 슬럼프플로를 만족하였으나, 화강암골재를 사용한 경우 목표값을 만족시키지 못해 고성능 감수제량을 증가시켜주어야 할 것으로 판단된다. 압축강도의 경우 석회암골재의 높은 탄성계수에 기인하여 화강암 골재를 사용한 경우보다 높은 콘크리트 압축강도를 발휘하였고, 전기로 산화슬래그를 치환한 경우 28일이후 강도가 다소 저하하는 것으로 나타났다. 자기수축은 석회암잔골재에 전기로 산화슬래그잔골재를 치환한 경우 자기수축을 9~25%정도 저감시킬 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

  • In this work, ultra-fine calcium oxide (CaO) powder derived from eggshells is used as the starting material to synthesize mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). The prepared CaO powder is confirmed to have an average particle size of 500 nm. MTAs are synthesized with three types of fine CaO-based powders, namely, tricalcium silicate (C3S), dicalcium silicate (C2S), and tricalcium aluminate (C3A). The synthesis behavior of C3S, C2S and C3A with ultra-fine CaO powder and the effects of C3A content and curing time on the properties of MTA are investigated. The characteristics of the synthesized MTA powders are examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission-scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), and a universal testing machine (UTM). The microstructure and compressive strength characteristics of the synthesized MTA powders are strongly dependent on the C3A wt.% and curing time. Furthermore, MTA with 5 wt.% C3A is found to increase the compressive strength and shorten the curing time.

Fast and Fine Tracking Control System Using Coarse/Fine Compound Actuation

  • A dual-stage positioner for fast and fine robotic manipulations is presented. By adopting the merits of both coarse and fine actuator, a desirable system having the capacity of large workspace with high resolution of motion is enabled. We have constructed an ultra precision XY positioner with dual-stage mechanism where the PZT driven fine stage is mounted on the motor driven XY positioner and applied it to fine tracking controls and micro-tele operations as a slave manipulator. We describe essential merits of the compound actuation mechanism and some control strategies to successfully utilize it with proper servo system design. Through experimental results, the effectiveness of the coarse/fine manipulation by the dual-stage positioner will be shown.

  • The background of this study lies in he investigation of the formation mechanism of ductile mode(nkanometer-size) chips of brittle materials such as fine ceramics glass and silicon. As the first step to achieve this purpose this paper intends to observe the micro-deformation behavior of these materials in sub${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ depth indentation tests using a diamond indentor. In this study it was developed Ultra-Micro Indentation. Device using the PZT actuator. Experimentally by using the Ultra-Micro Indentation device the micro fracture behavior of the silicon wafer was investigated. It was possible that ductile-brittle transition point in ultimate surface of brittle material can be detected by adding an acoustic emission sensor system to the Ultra-Micro Indentation appartus.
