영상 처리를 이용하여 주변 환경 센서를 관리하기 위한 유비쿼터스 홈 네트워크 시스템 (A Ubiquitous Home Network System for Managing Environment-Information Sensors using Image Processing)

  • 홈 네트워크는 사용자에게 많은 정보서비스를 제공하여 준다. 특히, 다양한 센서 데이터를 활용함으로써 그 서비스의 종류와 질을 풍부하게 한다. 하지만 홈네트워크는 현재 멀티미디어 서비스에 집중함으로써 그 서비스의 활용폭을 스스로 제한하고 있는 실정이다. 특히 댁내 통신망에 집중함으로써 실내의 여러 가전기기를 제어하는 데는 많은 성과를 얻고 있으나 실외의 여러 기기를 제어하는 데는 큰 성과가 나오지 않고 있다. 실외의 여러 기기는 실내의 가전기기와 다르게 특정 기능을 강조하는 형태로 구성되는 경우가 많기 때문에 여러 기능을 가진 센서보다는 한 두가지 기능을 가진 센서를 활용하여 시스템을 구성하면 되기 때문에 실내에서 센서 노드를 사용하는 것보다 훨씬 경제성도 높다고 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 현재 가장 많은 사용 목적을 가진 여러 가지 기능 중 동작 센서를 선택하여 이를 활용할 시스템으로 주차장 관리 시스템을 선택하여 이를 홈 네트워크에 접목하여 구현하여 보았다.

국내 미래주택관을 통해서 본 미래 주거기능 경향 연구 - 수도권 미래주택관 5곳을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Future Dwelling Functions through Domestic Future House Pavilions - Focused on 5 cases of Future House Pavilion in the Metropolitan Area -)

  • With the emergence of the smart era, interest in future society and new dwelling spaces is growing. This research analyzes the planning items applied to future house pavilions in Korea to examine which functions will be more emphasized and considered importantly in the dwelling spaces. This research paper aims to identify those dwelling functions that will occupy greater importance from the users' point of view. As for the research methodology, it comprised a literature review and an analysis of case studies. The results of this research were as follows; 1) It was arranged that the dwelling functions were safety, amenity, convenience, independence, economics, society, relaxation, aesthetic appearance. 2) For future dwelling environments, environment-friendly technology for conservation of energy was important in addition to intellectual cutting edge technologies, 3) Safety was most basic among all dwelling functions, 4) Planning items related to amenity and economics were found to be most common, indicating that they were important functions in future dwelling environments, 5) With regard to convenience, planning items related to increasing efficiency of household chores through the application of ubiquitous technology were found to be most common, 6) There was no indication of planning items related to independence and society, 7) Cutting edge technology and emotional technology appear to be integrated in planning items related to relaxation and aesthetic appearance, and 8) Each future dwelling pavilion suggested that over 80% of the planning items were related to amenity, convenience, and economics. We expect that the results from our research will be useful in creating a life-centered design of future dwelling spaces that account for dwelling functions.

Molecular Mechanisms Governing IL-24 Gene Expression

  • Interleukin-24 (IL-24) belongs to the IL-10 family of cytokines and is well known for its tumor suppressor activity. This cytokine is released by both immune and nonimmune cells and acts on non-hematopoietic tissues such as skin, lung and reproductive tissues. Apart from its ubiquitous tumor suppressor function, IL-24 is also known to be involved in the immunopathology of autoimmune diseases like psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis. Although the cellular sources and functions of IL-24 are being increasingly investigated, the molecular mechanisms of IL-24 gene expression at the levels of signal transduction, epigenetics and transcription factor binding are still unclear. Understanding the specific molecular events that regulate the production of IL-24 will help to answer the remaining questions that are important for the design of new strategies of immune intervention involving IL-24. Herein, we briefly review the signaling pathways and transcription factors that facilitate, induce, or repress production of this cytokine along with the cellular sources and functions of IL-24.

  • People want to control various facilities regardless location in ubiquitous era. Therefore we have a various devices embedded wireless functions. In this paper we implement a control program in a PDA that used Wireless LAN among wireless protocols. The objectives of this paper are: The first, to make a control program in server and a wireless client (PDA) using WLAN. The second, to implement smart home model. The third, to propose useful functions in home controls.

Identification and Expression Patterns of kif3bz during the Zebrafish Embryonic Development

  • We are reporting the identification, expression patterns, and possible biological functions of zebrafish kif3b (kif3bz) encoding 475 amino acids. Kif3Bz contains the kinesin motor domain, catalytic domain, KISc domain, and one single coiled coil domain. Phylogenetic analysis indicates that kif3bz is a highly conserved gene among the tested vertebrates. First of all, both maternal and zygotic messages of kif3bz were evenly distributed in the blastomeres at 2-cell stage. Its ubiquitous expression throughout the blastomeres continued till 40% epiboly. However, kif3bz transcripts became restricted in Kupffer's vesicle at tailbud and 6-somite stages. At 13-somite stage, kif3bz expression pattern became specific to the telencephalon, diencephalon, trigeminal placode, and somites. Such expression patterns were further intensified in the telencephalon, diencephalons, hind brain, pronephric ducts, optic vesicles, and spinal cord neurons in the 23-somite stage embryos, and last till 24 hpf. We discussed possible functions of Kif3Bz related to the vertebrate embryonic development.

  • A u-city is a vision of a city with computers and sensors built in to its infrastructure, and data sharing among the various information systems. A u-City provides several u-City services to the u-City clients. The u-City services for local governments contain two types of functions: common function and specified function. It is needed a study on generation of specified service models of local governments. The proposed service model divides functions of the city into two service areas: common support service and specified support service. And we suggest the way to generate the u-services of each local government in this paper.

  • 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅에서 RFID와 모바일 단말을 융합하는 모바일 RFID 연구는, B2B 서비스 영역에서 B2C 서비스 영역으로 또한 B2B2C에 이르는 서비스를 제공하기 위해 중요한 수단이며 인프라이다. 본 연구에서는 모바일 RFID 단말을 개발하기 위해, 단말의 미들웨어 기능을 제시한다. 이를 위해, 다중 코드 통합 인식 모듈, 판독기 제어 모듈, 코드 해석 모듈, Dispatcher 모듈의 기능을 구분하여 제시한다. 제안된 기능은 EPC/IOS 및 mCode형 태크를 모두 인식할 수 있다. 제안된 기능의 통합 구현을 위해 구현된 Local ODS와 13.56MHz 태그를 판독할 수 있는 모듈을 제시한다.

  • 20세기 초 바우하우스(BAUHUAS), 러시아 구축주의(Constructivism), 구성주의 운동(VKHUMAUS)등에서는 산업구조주의의 특히 재료, 기술, 과학의 도입을 통한 디자인 반영을 강조하였다[01]. 건축에 있어서도 "형태는 기능을 따른다(Form follows Function)"라는 합리주의적 사고를 기반으로 산업 디자인이 반영된 차별화된 공간형태가 등장하였다. 이 시대 건축가들의 공간형태에 대한 해석은 효율과 편리성 구현을 우선한 기능에 목록을 나열하는 것과 공간에서 요구되는 기능들 간의 관계를 건축형태 어휘로 도출하고 구현하는 것이었다[02]. 르 꼬르뷔제의 필로티(les polotis), 옥상테라스(Le Toit-Terrasse), 자유로운 평면(Le Plan Livre), 가로로 긴 창(La Fenetre en Longeu), 자유로운 파사드(Le Facade Livre)로 정의된 근대건축 5형식은 20세기에 전개된 건축공간형태 개념을 보여주는 대표적인 사례이다. 그러나 근대건축에서 기능에 의해 정의된 공간형태어휘는 형태 구현을 기술 제약과 재료의 물리적 특성의 한계로 가능한 공간형태 범위를 갖게 되고, 도리어 요구되는 기능이 공간형태에 따라 결정되는 모순적인 상황을 초래하였다. 본 논문에서는 오늘날의 공간디자인과 관련된 IT기술 선행연구사례와 공간형태와 기능에 있어 기술과 재료의 변화로 유연한 공간을 형성이 가능한지 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 기술을 적용에 있어 사용자의 요구에 따른 다양한 공간형태 어휘와 재료의 물리적 변화를 통한 기능의 조합과 제공하여 동일공간에 다양한 기능과 프로그램을 제공하고, 목표지향적인 공간으로 재구성할 수 있는 특성을 지닌 공간개념을 제시함을 목적으로 한다.

  • IPTV functions not only as media player that does play the broadcasting industry's contents, also as the gateway is guaranteed of QoS(Quality of Service). This is for free contents-sharing that device stores contents using home network circumstance, and is for watching with seamless network service. Also this have required next QoS model that can handle stably as it may contain more data of the small computing device in next generation home system. We need ubiquitous-oriented QoS's design and development project that focuses on internal and external media service, not the existing QoS nor one-sided QoS of media sevice industry. This paper focuses on network module development. This supports IPTV in media industry and two-way capability of QoS highlighting multimedia service in network industry. In additional, this can handle stably the multiplex signal of USN/RFID as the representative ubiquitous and home network that services high-speed wire and wireless interface, and support the seamless u-QoS.

A Study on Affordance Dimensions of Digital Services for the Elderly through the Analysis of Senior Adults' Daily Activities

  • Designing environments for the elderly includes studying changes in the elderly themselves, changes in their environment, and changes in the intercommunication between the elderly and their environment. The purpose of this study is to provide guidelines for a ubiquitous environment in which seniors can "age in place," using an environment-behavioral approach. 305 subjects aged 45 to 78 take part in the survey research. Temporal sequence (age groups) and behavior (daily activities) are considered as the significant variables to design digital services for the elderly in the perspective of an environment-behavioral approach. Several conclusions can be made. (1) The characteristics of subjects in the over-65 age group shows that they manage an independent lifestyle even if they realize some body functions deteriorate as they age. (2) Over-65 age group is more engaged in healthcare and pastime activities. The male subjects of it are most inactive. (3) The IDA (importance of daily activities) and FDA (frequency of daily activities) are classified by five to six factors in each group. The IDA and FDA of the group aged over 65 differ from other age groups. (4) Five affordance dimensions of digital services for the elderly are proposed: Healthcare, Domesticity, Mobility & Security, Network, and Recreation & Pastime. These affordance dimensions will help research groups or companies design ubiquitous environments to enhance the quality of life of seniors.
