  • Social network services based on openness, connectedness, and mass participation are reshaping many aspects of how companies conduct business and create value for their customers. For instance, Facebook and Twitter are expected to play a pivotal role as a new communication channel through which companies-forge close relationships with their customers for co-creation of value for mutual benefits. Given the potential of social network services, it is not surprising that many companies have strategically invested in social network services to reach out to customers. Despite the growing interest in social network services as a platform to connect companies and their customers, few guidelines exist about how managers can effectively utilize social network services in forging relationships with their customers. As such, scholars should pay greater attention to how firms can successfully develop relationships with their customers on social network services. In particular, this study employs the S-O-R (stimulus-organism-response) framework as a theoretical lens to develop a research model that explains customers' participation in the value co-creation platform that companies opened on Twitter. According to the S-O-R framework, certain types of individuals' behaviors can be best understood based on a causal link from environmental stimulus to organism, and response. We apply the S-O-R framework to understand how ubiquitous connectivity (stimuli) can influence customers' experience (organism) with companies on Twitter, which in turn influence their participation behavior (response). Two steps have been undertaken to empirically test the research model. First, we conducted a content analysis of tweets written by customers who follow companies on Twitter. As a result, we found event/promotion participation, company support, and giving feedback as three specific types of customer participation behavior. Second, we conducted a web-based survey to test research hypotheses in the research model. Participations in the survey were solicited to customers who followed companies on Twitter. As a result, a total of 115 respondents have completed the survey. Data were analyzed using the partial least square (PLS) technique. The results of data analysis suggest that ubiquitous connectivity (stimuli) had strong positive effects on perceive usefulness, perceived enjoyment, and perceived intimacy (organism). Perceived intimacy showed positive effects on customer participation behavior (response), such as event participation, company support, and giving feedback. Perceived enjoyment was found to have strong positive effects on company support and giving feedback. On the other hand, perceived usefulness did not have significant impacts on the three types of customer participation behavior.

  • This paper applied components of experience-based communication in terms of experience theory of Burnd H. Schmitt and context-based communication in the messenger platform environment through the scenario-based survey method, in order to study the influence of individual experiences, shared experiences, ubiquitous connectivity, and contextual usefulness on the perceived value and use intention of chatbot. Through this, the study is to provide companies in various service industries with practical approaches to further promote the use of chatbot. The implications of this study are as follows. First, as most chatbots still do not exceed the human planning level of designing them, it is necessary to consider how to design individual experience elements functionally according to the customer's intention to speak when developing the chatbot. Second, the chatbot should be designed not only from the perspective of completing specific tasks at any real time in anywhere, but also from the overall perspective of enhancing the quality of interaction, including the situation to which the customer belongs. Third, since the chatbot is likely to be anthropomorphized by users, it is important to be cautious about determining the chatbot's 'persona' and 'tone and manner' when developing the chatbot. Customer satisfaction is the most important criterion for the success of chatbot development. In other words, the quality of planning and data rather than the quality of artificial intelligence algorithms determines the utilization of chatbot. This is why companies are trying to make interactions with chatbot as close as possible to human interactions.

  • Presently, the ubiquitous emergence of high-speed-network environments has led to a rapid increase of various applications, leading to constantly complicated network traffic. To manage networks efficiently, the traffic classification of specific units is essential. While various traffic-classification methods have been studied, a methods for the complete classification of network traffic has not yet been developed. In this paper, a correlation model of the network flow is defined, and a traffic-classification method for which this model is used is proposed. The proposed network-correlation model for traffic classification consists of a similarity model and a connectivity model. Suggestion for the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated in terms of accuracy and completeness through experiments.

  • Recently 3D GIS and its applications are getting attention increasingly as various ubiquitous-related techniques for 3D spaces are being developed. Although they call for quantitative measures such as accessibility, most accessibilityrelated studies are limited to 2D networks, not 3D indoor space levels. In this paper, we develop an accessibility index applicable to 3D models. We first examine the theory of Space Syntax which has been developed and used to measure the connectivity or relationships between spatial segments in urban or architectural environments. Then, we expand the principle to a more general form so it can be applied to both street and indoor space levels. We incorporate different types of impedances in moving between places including distances, turns and transfers between floors into the traditional Space Syntax that measures the spatial depths solely based on the structural forms. Finally, we illustrate the use of the proposed measure comparatively using a campus building.

  • 5G AgiLe and fLexible integration of SaTellite And cellulaR (5G-ALLSTAR) is a Korea-Europe (KR-EU) collaborative project for developing multi-connectivity (MC) technologies that integrate cellular and satellite networks to provide seamless, reliable, and ubiquitous broadband communication services and improve service continuity for 5G and beyond. The main scope of this project entails the prototype development of a millimeter-wave 5G New Radio (NR)-based cellular system, an investigation of the feasibility of an NR-based satellite system and its integration with cellular systems, and a study of spectrum sharing and interference management techniques for MC. This article reviews recent research activities and presents preliminary results and a plan for the proof of concept (PoC) of three representative use cases (UCs) and one joint KR-EU UC. The feasibility of each UC and superiority of the developed technologies will be validated with key performance indicators using corresponding PoC platforms. The final achievements of the project are expected to eventually contribute to the technical evolution of 5G, which will pave the road for next-generation communications.

  • A Ubiquitous City (U-city, Smart City) is one that ties information communications technologies (ICT) into many facets of city construction, thereby implicitly intending to function as a smart city that aims to be efficiently managed as well as provide an enhanced standard of living for its residents. Laws related to the construction of such ubiquitous cities point to integrated city management centers, intelligent facilities, and U-City infrastructure, among others, as central components of U-Cities, but do not provide a standard for these structures. Consequently, building of U-Cities by local governments are based on arbitrary judgments constrained the myriad of practical limitations that they face. Such ambiguity brings to light the need to find ways to improve the quality of these efforts. The first and second stages of this research examine the status of the components of a U-City -ubiquitous planning, technology, infrastructure, and services - and undertakes a comprehensive review thereof, with evaluation criteria formulated on the characteristics of stability, connectivity, goal-orientation, and development potential. In the research's third stage, a realistic and detailed evaluation index by which U-Cities can be renewed, demonstrated, and applied (???) is introduced in a step-by-step fashion, which will allow for local governments to properly assess the standard of their U-City in relation to the realities of the locality. Through the research result, it is expected that the index will become a part of the continued development and advancement of the "smart" character of an autonomous U-City at the local scale, and contribute to the overall revitalization of the U-City.

  • It is of great significance in the NGN - which supports a ubiquitous network environment in which users can use multiple devices and all the devices are connected to networks - to support the terminal mobility as well as service continuity. The IMS architecture, which is considered as session control layer in the NGN, exists to support a wide range of advanced new services in addition to the traditional voice and data connectivity offerings of "old" telecommunications. The recent IMS specification also defines IUT (Inter UE Session Transfer) functionality in order to support service continuity in the NGN. However, service continuity in IMS has a limitation that two terminals involved in session transfer should belong to the same user. In this paper, we proposed a new device discovery mechanism for IMS and extended UEs with a few capabilities to overcome some of IMS's limitations. We also analysed how much overhead of the proposed method in terms of signaling cost will be.

  • In this paper, we propose ubiquitous tree management system based on GIS and smart-phone using the object-oriented design modeling to maximize the efficiency of tree management. For this, proposed system is implemented in the form of client/server (C/S). The spot tree management system as the client is based on the mobile(PDA, Smart-Phone), whereas the tree management system based on PC as the server makes use of GIS. Also, Web service method instead of CDMA used in exist studies is used for tree data communication among C/S. And problems of existing studies, that is excessive maintenance costs, accessibility shortage of variety users, connectivity shortage of geographic information system will be settled through the convergence of the proposed system development methods, GIS system, smart devices. Therefore, we verify proposed system by using the systemic unit test and qualitative assessment respectively and prove to be more excellent than the existing system based on the mobile, in terms of systemic effectiveness and extendability.

  • Recent expansion of the ubiquitous environment and improvement of the USN give lots of U-healthcare systems. In this paper, we design and implement a wireless ECG measurement system that can send ECG signals among the sensors and collector. It can also give almost the same precision as a hospital ECG system with mobility. The most important fact of the mobile ECG system is the signal data connectivity among the sensors and device such as signal cables or wires. we can eliminate the signal cable through the Zigbee sender and collector via implementing Zigbee-SD communication system that can receive the ECG signal data. We also implement ECG app software on the smart phone that can analyze and show the data results directly. It can give lots of mobility and usability under ubiquitous environment and would be a very efficient wireless ECG system for U-healthcare service.

  • Mobile banking, a type of digital convergence, has recently spread in the ubiquitous age. This study intends to identify the factors that affect the adoption of the mobile banking, which is a field similar to, but even more specialized than, the Internet banking. The results indicate that the significant factors affecting the usage of mobile banking are usefulness, service quality, and instant connectivity, while usability and social influences are not significant. These results are expected to be used for marketing the mobile banking and establishing the technological strategy by the telecommunication and banking organizations.
