Syntheses of Cu2SnSe3 and Their Transformation into Cu2ZnSnSe4 Nanoparticles with Tunable Band Gap under Multibubble Sonoluminescence Conditions

  • $Cu_2SnSe_3$ (CTSe) and $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ (CZTSe) nanoparticles were synthesized by sonochemical reactions under multibubble sonoluminescence (MBSL) conditions. First, $Cu_2SnSe_3$ nanoparticles were synthesized by the sonochemical method with an 85% yield, using CuCl, $SnCl_2$, and Se. Second, ZnSe was coated on the CTSe nanoparticles by the same method. Then, they were transformed into CZTSe nanoparticles of 5-7 nm diameters by heating them at $500^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. The ratios between Zn and Sn could be controlled from 1 to 3.75 by adjusting the relative concentrations of CTSe and ZnSe. With relatively lower Zn:Sn ratios (0.75-1.26), there are mostly CZTSe nanoparticles but they are believed to include very small amount of CTS and ZnSe particles. The prepared nanoparticles show different band gaps from 1.36 to 1.47 eV depending on the Zn/Sn ratios. In this sonochemical method without using any toxic or high temperature solvents, the specific stoichiometric element Zn/Sn ratios in CZTSe were controllable on demand and their experimental results were always reproducible in separate syntheses. The CZTSe nanoparticles were investigated by using X-ray diffractometer, a UV-Vis spectrophotometer, scanning electron microscope, Raman spectroscopy, and a high resolution-transmission electron microscope.

Fabrication of Optical Fiber Gas Sensor with Polyaniline Clad

  • Optical fiber sensors have been used to detect small amounts of chemical species. In this work, a new thin polymer-clad fiber sensor is developed. Polyaniline is chemically synthesized and thin clad layers of the polymer are easily deposited on optical fiber by dip-coating technique. The optical property of polyaniline as a sensing material is analyzed by UV-Vis-NIR. The light source is stabilized He-Ne laser at 635 nm wavelength with 1 mW power. The light power transmitted through the optical fiber is measured with a spectrophotometer. By selecting a fixed incident angle, variation of transmitted light intensity through the optical fiber can be detected as gas molecules absorbed in the polyaniline clad layer. Among the various gases, the fabricated optical fiber sensor shows good sensitivity to $NH_{3}$ gas. The optical fiber sensors was shown more improved properties than polymer based sensors which measure conductivity changes.

  • In this study, we have attempted a new method to enhance the coloring of dye on the $TiO_2$ surface in the dye sensitized solar cell. In the conventional coloring process in a dye sensitized solar cells, dye is absorbed by the covalent bond between TiO2 and dye molecule while the photo-electrode coated with $TiO_2$ layer is soaked in dye solution for about 12-24 hours. But this process takes long time, so we have researched more effective and faster way than the conventional process by applying electric field. Three kinds of electric power such as direct voltage, alternating voltage and pulse voltage were applied to the transparent conducting oxide during the coloring process. As a result, we achieved improved power, fill factor and efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cell in case of applying direct voltage and pulse voltage. In contrast, alternating voltage tend to reduce the dye adsorption on the $TiO_2$ surface and hence the efficiency. We measured the absorption spectra of dye by UV-VIS spectrophotometer before and after soaking the $TiO_2$ in the dye and found no characteristic change in the dye was observed. In this study, we researched on shortening time of coloring process which spent much time in the whole process.

음극전착법을 이용한 Cu2O 막의 광전기 화학적 특성 (Photoelectrochemical Characteristics for Cathodic Electrodeposited Cu2O Film on Indium Tin Oxide)

  • 음극전착법을 이용하여 전도성유리(ITO-glass)위에 Cu$_2$O 막을 제조하였다. Cu$_2$O 막의 특성을 향상시키기 위하여 전착방법, 시간, 전압, 전착 후 열처리 조건을 변화시켰다. 전착 후 열처리를 통해 얻어진 전극에 100mW/$ extrm{cm}^2$의 백색광을 조사하여 광전류밀도를 측정하고 XRD, SEM, UV-visible spectrophotometer를 통해 제조 조건변화에 따른 특성변화를 관찰하였다. 그리고 100mW/$\textrm{cm}^2$의 백색광하에서 bias 전압이 0V인 조건에서 전극의 안정성을 측정하였다 인가전압 -0.7V, 인가시간 300초 전착 조건에서 얻어진 막을 30$0^{\circ}C$에서 1시간 열처리하여 순수한 Cu$_2$O 막을 제조하였으며, 이 전극을 이용 광전류밀도를 측정한 결과 1048 $\mu$A/$\textrm{cm}^2$가 측정되었다. 또한 chemical deposition을 이용 TiO$_2$ 박막을 Cu$_2$O 막 위에 코팅하여 전극의 안정성을 향상시켰다.

Adsorption of Organic Compounds onto Mineral Substrate Prepared from Oyster Shell Waste

  • Humic acids react with chlorine to produce Trihalomethanes(THMs), known as carcinogens, during disinfection, the last stage in water purification. Currently, the removal of organic humic acids is considered the best approach to solve the problem of THM formation. Accordingly, the current study examined the adsorption of organic compounds of humic acids onto an inorganic carrier prepared from oyster shell waste. The adsorbent used was activated oyster shell powder(HAP) and silver ion-exchanged oyster shell powder(HAP-Ag), with CaCO$_3$ as the control. The adsorbates were phthalic acid, chelidamic acid, catechol, dodecylpyridinium chloride(DP), and 2-ethyl phenol(2-EP). The adsorption experiments were carried out in a batch shaker at $25^{\circ}C$ for 15 hours. The equilibrium concentration of the adsorbate solution was analyzed using a UV spectrophotometer and the data fitted to the Langmuir isotherm model. Since the solution pH values were found to be greater than the pKa values of the organic compounds used as adsorbates, the compounds apparently existed in ionic form. The adsorptive affinities of the organic acid and phenolic compounds varied depending on the interaction of electrostatic forces, ion exchange, and chelation. More carboxylic acids and catechol, rather than DP and 2-EP, were adsorbed onto HAP and HAP-Ag. HAP and HAP-Ag exhibited a greater adsorptive affinity for the organic compounds than CaCO$_3$, used as the control.

Synthesis of Solution-based Sb-doped SnO2 Thin Films

  • Transparent conductive oxides (TCOs) 박막은 가시광선영역에서의 높은 투과율과 낮은 저항 특성을 동시에 갖고 있어 최근 smart windows, solar cells, liquid crystal displays (LCD), organic light emitting devices (OLED)등과 같은 최첨단 기기에 필수적인 구성요소로 활발히 사용되고 있다. 따라서, 현재까지 FTO ($SnO_2:F$), ITO ($In_2O_3:Sn$), ATO ($SnO_2:Sb$)등과 같은 다양한 TCO들이 많은 연구자들에 의해 연구되고 있다. 그 중 ITO는 우수한 전기적(${\sim}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$) 및 광학적(~85%) 특성 때문에 현재 상업적으로 활발히 응용되고 있는 대표적인 물질이다. 하지만 ITO의 주된 구성요소인 indium은 제한적인 매장량과 과도한 소비량 때문에 원가가 비싸다는 문제점이 있다. 반면에, ATO는 우수한 전기적(${\sim}10^{-3}{\Omega}cm$) 및 광학적(~80%) 특성뿐만 아니라 구성물질들의 매장량이 풍부하여 ATO의 원가가 저렴하다는 장점을 가지고 있어 현재 ITO을 대체 할 수 물질로 관심 받고 있다 [1]. 지금까지 우수한 특성을 갖는 ATO박막을 합성하는 방법으로 sol-gel spin coating, sputtering, spray pyrolysis, chemical vapor deposition (CVD)등이 알려져 있다. 이 중에서도, sol-gel spin coating과 spray pyrolysis은 solution기반의 합성법으로 분류되며 합성과정이 간단하고 비용이 저렴하다는 장점이 있고 현재까지 많은 연구가 보고되었다. 그러나, 진공기반이 아닌 우수한 특성을 갖는 solution기반의 ATO박막을 합성하기 위해서는 새로운 합성법의 개발이 학문적으로나 산업적으로도 매우 중요한 이슈이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 electrospray을 활용하여 solution기반의 ATO박막을 처음으로 합성하였다. 게다가 ATO박막에 열처리온도에 따른 구조, 화학, 전기, 광학적 특성을 확인하기 위하여 X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Hall Effect Measurement System, UV spectrophotometer를 사용하였다. 이러한 실험 결과들을 바탕으로 electrospray을 통해 합성된 solution기반의 ATO박막에 자세한 특성을 본 학회에서 다루도록 하겠다.

반사방지 특성을 통일시킨 실리콘 질화막 간의 패시베이션 특성 비교 (Comparison of Passivation Property on Hydrogenated Silicon Nitrides whose Antireflection Properties are Identical)

  • Silicon nitride ($SiN_x:H$) films made by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) are generally used as antireflection layers and passivation layers on solar cells. In this study, we investigated the properties of silicon nitride ($SiN_x:H$) films made by PECVD. The passivation properties of $SiN_x:H$ are focused on by making the antireflection properties identical. To make equivalent optical properties of silicon nitride films, the refractive index and thickness of the films are fixed at 2.0 and 90 nm, respectively. This limit makes it easier to evaluate silicon nitride film as a passivation layer in realistic application situations. Next, the effects of the mixture ratio of the process gases with silane ($SiH_4$) and ammonia ($NH_3$) on the passivation qualities of silicon nitride film are evaluated. The absorption coefficient of each film was evaluated by spectrometric ellipsometry, the minority carrier lifetimes were evaluated by quasi-steady-state photo-conductance (QSSPC) measurement. The optical properties were obtained using a UV-visible spectrophotometer. The interface properties were determined by capacitance-voltage (C-V) measurement and the film components were identified by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy detection (RBS) - elastic recoil detection (ERD). In hydrogen passivation, gas ratios of 1:1 and 1:3 show the best surface passivation property among the samples.

인디고 분석 표준액의 제조법 및 쪽 육성계통의 인디고 함량변이 (Preparation Method of Indigo Standard Solution and Variation of Indigo Contents in Blue Dye Extract from Breeding Lines of Persicaria tinctoria H. Gross)

  • This study was carried out to find out the optimum method of preparation of indigo standard solution and its stability, and to investigate the indigo contents in Niram, blue dye extract, from a total of 7 indigo plants and 34 breeding lines of Persicaria tinctoria H. Gross. Proper solvent for indigo standard was dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), and appropriate concentration was 1 mg of indigo in 10 mL of DMSO. Absorbance value of UV/Vis Spectrophotometer at 620 nm of standard solution was changed decreasingly 12 hours after the preparation of standard solution irrespective of the storage conditions such as temperature and light. Average value of absorbance of 8-fold diluted standard solutions prepared daily during 16 days was $0.210{\pm}0.005$, indicating the powder of indigo compound was stable chemically. Calibration curve was made for quantitative analysis of indigo of 7 Niram samples, and indigo contents ranged from 0.69% to 18.76% showing relatively larger variation. Across all 34 breeding lines, the range of indigo content was from 7.9 mg to 56.4 mg per 100 g of fresh leaves, averaging 25.2 mg of indigo content and showing a 47.7% coefficient of variation.

직류 마그네트론 스퍼터링법으로 제조된 $TiO_2$ 박막의 구조적, 광학적 특성 및 광촉매 효과 (The structural, optical and photocatalytic properties of $TiO_2$ thin films fabricated by do magnetron sputtering)

  • [ $TiO_2$ ] thin films were fabricated by DC magnetron sputtering system at by controlling deposition times, ratios of $Ar:O_2$ partial presser ratio and substrate conditions. And the surface, cross-section morphology, microstructure, and composition ratio of the films were analyzed by FE-SEM, TEM and XPS. Besides, the optical absorption and transmittance of the $TiO_2$ films were measured by a UV-VIS-NIR Spectrophotometer, and photocatalytic properties were studied by G C Analyzer & Data Analysis system. As the result, when $TiO_2$ thin film was made at deposition time of 120[min] and $Ar:O_2$ ratio of 60:40, the best structural and optical properties among many thin films could be accepted. The best results of properties were as follows: thickness; $360{\sim}370[nm]$, grain size; 40[m], gap between two peak binding energy, $5.8{\pm}0.05[eV]$ ($2p_{3/2}$ peak and $2p_{1/2}$ peak of Ti was show at $458.3{\pm}0.05[eV]$ and $464.1{\pm}0.05[eV]$ respectively), binding energy; $530{\pm}0.05\;[eV]$, opticalenergy band gap; 3.4[eV].

RF 마그네트론 스퍼터링법으로 제조한 SnS 박막의 구조적 및 광학적 특성 (Structural and Optical Properties of SnS Thin Films Deposited by RF Magnetron Sputtering)

  • SnS thin films with different substrate temperatures ($150 {\sim}300^{\circ}C$) as process parameters were grown on soda-lime glass substrates by RF magnetron sputtering. The effects of substrate temperature on the structural and optical properties of SnS thin films were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy (Raman), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and Ultraviolet-visible-near infrared spectrophotometer (UV-Vis-NIR). All of the SnS thin films prepared at various substrate temperatures were polycrystalline orthorhombic structures with (111) planes preferentially oriented. The diffraction intensity of the (111) plane and the crystallite size were improved with increasing substrate temperature. The three major peaks (189, 222, $289cm^{-1}$) identified in Raman were exactly the same as the Raman spectra of monocrystalline SnS. From the XRD and Raman results, it was confirmed that all of the SnS thin films were formed into a single SnS phase without impurity phases such as $SnS_2$ and $Sn_2S_3$. In the optical transmittance spectrum, the critical wavelength of the absorption edge shifted to the long wavelength region as the substrate temperature increased. The optical bandgap was 1.67 eV at the substrate temperature of $150^{\circ}C$, 1.57 eV at $200^{\circ}C$, 1.50 eV at $250^{\circ}C$, and 1.44 eV at $300^{\circ}C$.
