  • The far-zone magnetic field patterns of a E-plane horn antenna with various edge structures are analyzed using UTD. The ray tracing method is used to lacate the shadow boundaries, and then GO and UTD are utilized to evaluate the incident, reflected, diffracted, surface diffaracted, and the second order diffracted, diffracted-reflected, and diffracted-reflected-diffracted waves existing in each region of interest. By doing this, we analyzed the effects of flanges or caps connected on the edge of a horn antenna on the side lobe and back lobe levels. Also, the validity of this paper is proved by comparing the analytical results with those of measurement and method of moment presented in the reference.

  • An elliptical ogive head for a generic missile is proposed to reduce its detectable probability from aground defense radar. Numerical RCS results of a generic missile with an elliptical ogive head are evaluated using the GTD/UTD (Geometrical Theory of Diffraction/uniform GTD). The results are compared with those of a cylindrical ogive head. In the sense of aerodynamics, the performance evaluation of an elliptical ogive head for a generic missile should be followed.

  • In this paper, we have developed a propagation loss prediction software with GUI (Graphic User Interface) functions, based on the geometrical ray optics model, which can predict radio parameters for the deployment of wireless indoor network. The program has two numerical modules consisted with electrical image and ray launching methods to implement UTD theory. The simulated results are compared with reported data measured in the foreign building environments for office and '一' type corridor, and measured and simulated results for the propagation loss agree with each other quite well. Simulation results for '一' type corridor and 'T' type corridor propagation environment are shown for reference.

  • In this paper, we present an indoor propagation prediction model which is based on a three-dimensional ray-tracing technique. In this model, instead of considering all obstacles such as furnitures and fixtures, etc., only main obstacles to the propagation such as walls, ceiling and floors are modeled as slabs with finite thickness and conductivity, and the significant phenomena of propagation are considered, so we can calculate simply and predict accurately the propagation losses. The propagating rays are considered to be reflected and transmitted specularly at the boundaries of obstacles, and diffracted at edges. The reflection and transmission losses on flat obstacles are calculated by using ray tracing method, and the diffraction losses at edges are calculated by using the uniform theory of diffraction (UTD) for finite conductivity media. The results simulated for some cases by this propagation model good agree with the measured value of pathloss.

  • The purpose of thesis is to analyze the radiation characteristics of an offset gregorian antenna in order to design the satellite-loaded antenna. In order to compute the radiation pattern of the sub-reflector, the reflected wave is obtained by GO(Geometric Optics) at an arbitrary shaped sub-reflector. Then the total radiation EM wave is obtained by summing the diffracted fields obtained by UTD(Uniform Geometrical Theory of Diffraction) and the GO fields. In order to calculate the far field radiation pattern of the main reflector, the radiation integral equation is derived from the induced current density on reflector surface using PO(Physical Optics). The kernel is expanded in terms of Jacobi-Bessel series for increasing the computational efficiency, then the modified radiation integral is represented as the double integral equation independent of observation points. When the incident fields are assumed to be x-or y-polarized field, the characteristics of radiation patterns in the gregorian antenna is analyzed in case of the main reflector having the focal length of 62.4$\lambda$, diameter of 100$\lambda$, and offset height of 75$\lambda$, and the sub-reflector having the eccentricity of 0.501, the inter focal length og 32.8$\lambda$, the horn axis angle of $9^{\circ}$ and the half aperture angle of $15.89^{\circ}$. The cross-polarized level and side lobe level in the offset geogorian reflector are reduced by 30dB and 10dB, respectively, in comparison with those of the offset parabolic antenna.

  • Recently, with the development of computer vision and deep learning technology, research on human action recognition has been actively conducted for video analysis, video surveillance, interactive multimedia, and human machine interaction applications. Diverse techniques have been introduced for human action understanding and classification by many researchers using RGB image, depth image, skeleton and inertial data. However, skeleton-based action discrimination is still a challenging research topic for human machine-interaction. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end skeleton joints mapping of action for generating spatio-temporal image so-called dynamic image. Then, an efficient deep convolution neural network is devised to perform the classification among the action classes. We use publicly accessible UTD-MHAD skeleton dataset for evaluating the performance of the proposed method. As a result of the experiment, the proposed system shows better performance than the existing methods with high accuracy of 97.45%.

  • This paper presents an investigation of the phase-resolved partial discharge (PD) pattern of PET (Poly Ethylene Telephthalate) films with carbon black particles. The phase-resolved PD pattern and statistical parameter from PET samples according to the number of included semiconductor particles were measured. The measurement system consisted of a conventional PD detector using a digital signal processing technique. The partial discharge patterns of the PET films that include the semiconductor particles were investigated to simulate an actual situation that may exist in the cable. In addition, difference of PD patterns between semiconducting particles in PET films and artificial voids was studied. The relationship between the numbers of semiconductor particles in PET films was discussed through the difference of Ψ-q-n distribution and statistical analysis.
