고효율 운전이 가능한 지능형 무정전 전원장치에 관한 연구 (A Study of Smart Uninterruptible Power Supply Capable High Efficiency Drive)

  • In this paper, a control scheme with the capability of high efficiency, which is realized by predicting the conditions of a load power and an input power, is proposed for the uninterruptible power supply (UPS). Generally, on-line UPS system supplies a constant voltage and a constant frequency (CVCF). However, the efficiency of the On-line UPS system can be reduced due to the switching losses of semiconductor devices during the power conversion. The these losses are improved by the proposed smart UPS with the high efficiency drive system, which is realized by analysing and predicting the conditions of a load power and an input power.

  • In this paper, Uninterruptible Power Supply(UPS) Inverter system using Carrier Frequency Modulated PWM (CFM-PWM) is proposed to reduced harmonics and electromagnetic noise. Power conversion of UPS system is executed by the ON-OFF operation of semiconductor switching devices. However, this switching operation causes the surge and EMI which deteriorate the reliability of the UPS system. This Problems improved by Random PWM switching method. The simulation results of the proposed system was compared with the system using conventional method using Matlab/Simulink. The results show that the output voltage and current harmonics of the proposed UPS system significantly decreased and spread into wide band area by the proposed Carrier Frequency Modulated PWM(CFM-PWM) method based on the Space Vector Modulation.

새로운 DFT 비교기를 이용한 자동 다전원 동기절체 스위치에 관한 연구 (A Study on Automatic Multi-Power Synchronous Transfer Switch using New DFT Comparator)

  • The UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) system operates in the battery charging mode when the grid is normal, and in the UPS mode, which is the battery discharge mode when a grid error occurs. Since the UPS must supply the same voltage as the grid to the load within 4 [ms] in case of a grid error, the switching time and power recovery time should be short when controlling the output voltage and current of the UPS, and the power failure detection time is also important. The power outage detection algorithm using DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) proposed in this paper compares the grid voltage waveform with the voltage waveform including the 9th harmonic generated through DFT using Schmitt trigger to detect power outage faster than the existing power outage monitoring algorithm. There are advantages. Therefore, it is possible to supply instant and stable power when switching modes in the UPS system. The multi-power-applied UPS system proposed in this paper uses DFT, which is faster than the conventional blackout monitoring algorithm in detecting power failure, to provide stable power to the load in a shorter time than the existing power outage monitoring algorithm when a system error occurs. The detection method was applied. The changeover time of mode switching was set to less than 4 [ms], which is 1/4 of the system cycle, in accordance with KSC 4310 regulation, which was established by the Industrial Standards Council on the regulation of uninterruptible power supply. A 10 [kW] UPS system in which commercial voltage, vehicle generator, and auxiliary diesel generator can be connected to each of the proposed transfer devices was constructed and the feasibility was verified by conducting an experiment.

USP의 신뢰성 향상을 위한 독립제어 고속절환장치 (Isolation Control High Speed Transfer Switch for Upgrade Reliability of Uninterruptible Power Supply)

  • 본 논문은 대용량 더블컨버젼 방식 $30^{\sim}500[KVA]$ 무정전전원공급장치 UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply)의 고장발생유형과 출력정지현상의 원인을 살펴보고, 부하 측면에서 전원공급의 신뢰성을 높일 수 있는 고장 검출방식을 제안한다. 인버터 출력의 전원품질을 검출하여 이상으로 판단 시 바이패스 시키는 방식의 기존 UPS 제어방식의 경우, 만일 내부(전력변환소자, 컨트롤러, CPU)소손이 발생되는 경우에는 부하전원 공급이 중단되는 현상이 발생되었고 이를 실험파형과 장비 운용결과를 통하여 증명하였다. 본 논문은 이러한 사고의 경우에도 출력전원의 공급에는 문제가 없도록 하기 위하여 기존 UPS의 제어시스템과는 별도로 독립적으로 고장검출장치, 바이패스 제어장치, 3중전원공급장치를 구축한 상태에서, 고장검출위치를 최종출력스위치 전단으로 변경하고, 고장판단 기준값을 기존 UPS제어시스템과 충돌이 없도록 변경하고, 사고확산을 차단할 수 있는 장치를 하였다. 이 시스템을 통신전원공급용 UPS 242대에 적용한 결과 2006년 이후 2년간 서비스장애가 발생되지 않았다.

ESS 기능을 갖는 하이브리드 UPS (Hybrid UPS with Energy Storage System Function)

  • This paper proposes the hybrid UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) with ESS(Energy Storage System) function. The proposed hybrid UPS is operating in four states, which are normal state, battery state, ESS state, and bypass state. In case of peak load time or power shortage, the system is operating in ESS state in which the stored energy of the battery is used to manage the power effectively. The validity of proposed system are verified by simulations and experiments.

  • A new 3-phase line-interactive UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) system with parallel-series active power-line conditioning capability using AC line reactor and two four-leg PWM VSCs(Voltage Source Converters) was introduced recently. In this paper, the strategy of voltage control in suggested UPS system is explained. The objective of proposed voltage controllers in parallel(shunt) and series PWM VSC is to guarantee satisfactory characteristics in steady state and transient state. Therefore the experimental results to prototype UPS system having power rating of 60kVA is shown to prove the verification of voltage control strategy.

  • An Uninterruptible Power Supply(UPS) is a system designed to deliver energy during accidents that the AC mains is out of its acceptable limits, without interruption of power flow through the load. Battery Discharger is the device to supply high quality power to the Inverter, when accidents occur, such as Power Failure. The Battery Discharger should have a fast response characteristics. The LLC resonant converter for UPS battery discharger is proposed. The proposed Battery Discharger offers substantial improvements in efficiency, size and cost. The proposed Battery Discharger of UPS approach is a good solution for high power applications above KW. To verify the validity of proposed Battery Discharger, simulations and experiments are carried out.

  • 무(無)정전을 요구하는 특정대상의 중요 전기시설에서, 신뢰도 낮은 수전방식의 정전 가능성 대책으로 대용량의 UPS와 비상발전기를 설치 운영 중에 있다. 근래에 와서 상용전원과 발전기 또는 복수의 발전기에 CTTS (Closed Transition Transfer Switch)를 무(無)정전 전환개폐기 전용으로 사용하고 있다. 본 논문에서 CTTS를 신뢰도 높은 상용2회선 수전방식의 수전변압기 2차 측에 적용한 새로운 무(無)정전 전원설비 구축 방안을 제안하였다. 그 결과 수전설비 구성 간략화와, UPS 비상발전기 설치 최소화로 공간 및 투자절감 효과를 얻을 수 있다.

  • 기존의 무정전전원장치(UPS: Uninterruptible Power Supply)는 배터리를 보조전원으로 사용함으로써 큰 부피와 수명에 제한을 받게 될 뿐만 아니라, 급격한 부하변동에 따른 배터리 전압의 변동으로 UPS 시스템 출력에 문제점을 야기한다. 본 논문에서는 보조전원으로 쓰이는 기존의 배터리 대신에 친환경 대체 에너지원인 연료전지를 무정전전원장치용 3상 AC/DC 컨버터에 적용하여 급격한 부하 변동 시 에너지를 보상하고 안정된 출력을 갖도록 하였다.

  • An efficiency improving method for Uninterruptible Power Supply System(UPS) was developed by using OP-AMP based application circuits such as voltage detection device, current detection device and static switch control device. The efficiency improving algorithm was made by mixing the operating concepts of On-Line type UPS with the operating concepts of Off-Line type UPS. The UPS' inverter does not work if the UPS' output load current is not higher than the low load operating current which is about 0-30(%) of the UPS' output load capacity. The low load operating current is adjustable within the half of the UPS' output load capacity. If the UPS' output load current is rising over than the low load operating current, the UPS' inverter starts working and the inverter output power feeds to the loads of UPS. If UPS' input power breaks out while UPS' inverter does not operate because the load current is low, the inverter starts working within 4(ms) with excessive output voltage which is ${\pm}$8(%) of normal UPS' output voltage. Like these. UPS can continuously feeds power to it's load device and reduce power consumptions.
