In this paper, we compared and analyzed the antenna characteristics such as bandwidth, efficiency, and readable range in terms of the size and the number of turns of the multiple meander RFID tag antenna in the UHF band. The sizes of the each antenna are $20.0{\times}19.7$, $25.0{\times}24.8$ and $30.0{\times}29.7\;mm^2$. The bandwidths of the antennas for VSWR<5.8 are 857~963 MHz, 844~965 MHz, and 844~968 MHz which cover the worldwide UHF RFID bandwidth. The readable range of the antenna was greatly affected by the efficiency and gain of the antenna which depends on the size and the number of turns of the meander antenna.

This paper reports the design of RFID reader antennas working in UHF band. The reader antennas were designed using a Pareto Genetic Algorithm(Pareto GA). Antennas were optimized to have circular polarization(CP) with less than 3 dB axial ratio, impedance matching with less than VSWR=2 within the frequency range of UHF, an adequate readable range, a restricted size(kr<2.22) considering the practical condition. After Pareto GA optimization, we selected and built the most suitable antenna design and compared the measured results to the simulations. Operating principle of the antenna was explained by investigating the amplitude and the phase of the induced current on the antenna body. We also researched the stability of the antenna with respect to the manufacturing error and studied the critical design parameters by applying the random error method on the antenna bent points.

For human exposure assessment of UHF RFID system, electric field distribution of commercial 900[MHz] RFID antenna was measured and analyzed. Also, SAR(Specific Absorption Rate) of RFID antenna was calculated by simulation, and compared with basic restrictions in EMF guidelines. For EMF exposure assessment according to EN and IEC standards, the reader was tested for the normal operation, and electric field from RFID antenna was measured at various distances and angles. For electric field measurement, narrow band isotropic electric field probe was used, and the measurements were made at 0.3, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5[m] for every 15[$^{\circ}$] angle from the antenna. Also, the rationale for measurement distance in EN and IEC standards is analyzed from the measurement results.

If obstacle in GIS(Gas Insulted Switchgear), its affects are great are on the community and it is consequently demanded lots of difficulties to recover and repair. Accordingly, diagnosis techniques, that are able to prevent from accidents before they happen by providing more stable and highly reliable power effectively and finding sign of the accidents is very important A novel UHF(Ultra High Frequency)-microstrip antenna is presented. The measured impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is from 0.5[GHz] to 15[GHz] with the stop band from 0.5[GHz] to 10.7 [GHz] for VSWR<2. Form results of this study, The antenna is will play an important role for the sensor for insulation diagnosis system by UHF method of real site GIS and power equipment using SF$_6$ gas.

In this paper, we design a UHF band RFID tag antenna which is conjugate matched to an impedance of a chip and also mountable on conductive materials. The proposed tag antenna is very compact($50{\times}30{\times}4mm$) with a modified PIFA shape. The proposed tag antenna has an advantage of easy matching to various chip input impedances. The performance of the antenna is evaluated by monitoring RCS in the reader direction. The RCS of the designed tag is $-10.2\;dBm^2$ when the chip is shorted and is $-21\;dBm^2$ when the chip impedance is a complex conjugate of the antenna impedance.

In this paper, we propose a novel hybrid reader antenna using a triangular and rectangular sub-patch for near- and far-field RFID reader in UHF band. The antenna operates at 912 MHz, and the low-cost mass-production is available, since the antenna can be built by printing on a FR-4 substrate. The triangular patch is designed to produce a circularly polarized radiation along the bore-sight direction and the rectangular sub-patch is designed to generate a strong magnetic field over the antenna aperture. The measurement shows Hz field greater than -25 dBA/m(3 cm above the antenna aperture), and exhibits circularly polarized radiation(AR<3 dB) with a radiation gain of 6 dBi.

In this paper, we designed, fabricated and tested an UHF band cylindrical dipole array antenna. In the proposed antenna, cylindrical dipoles were vertically arranged in four stages. A parallel structure feeding circuit was installed inside the cylindrical dipole and mounted so as to be broadband matching. The feeding circuit was installed at the center of the cylindrical dipole to optimize the gain flatness characteristic of the azimuth direction omnidirectional radiation pattern. Minimizing the difference between the signals branched from the feeding circuit and realizing the symmetry of the radiation pattern. The required specifications are more than 11.2% bandwidth in UHF band, above 6dBi antenna gain, standing wave ratio of 2:1 or less, less than ${\pm}1dB$ gain flatness in azimuth radiation pattern, more than 13 degrees in elevation radiation pattern of 3dB beamwidth. We confirmed the possibility of implementation through M&S and verified the result of M&S through production and testing. The test results are 11.2% bandwidth in the UHF band, 6.30 to 8.31 dBi gain, 1.53:1 standing wave ratio or less, within ${\pm}0.2dB$ gain flatness in the azimuth radiation pattern, elevation radiation pattern of 3dB beam width was 15.62 to 15.84 degrees. The test result meets all requirements specifications.

The paper introduces the RFID location based Tree Management System (TMS) using UHF RFID tag and GPS. The bolt shape tag has been developed since the wood material has high dielectric constant. Since the characteristics and impedance of tag antenna can be changed by the material next to the tag, the plastic bolt shape tag antenna has to be carefully designed with consideration of the high dielectric constant of the wood material. The RFID TMS system has been utilized with the bolt shape tag antenna and GPS. The TMS system uses and links Google map to locate the location of the trees. Therefore, this system allow us to manage the trees economically and efficiently.

Herein, a non-Foster matching circuit is designed to improve the impedance matching characteristics of small antennas in the VHF and UHF bands. The proposed non-Foster circuit is designed to operate with negative capacitance in a wide frequency band from 50 MHz to 1,000 MHz for use in various communication bands. To ensure the stability of the non-Foster circuit with conditional stability, the open-circuit stability condition of Linvill was satisfied, and the circuit was fabricated using the FR-4 substrate. The fabricated non-Foster circuit was combined with a small antenna to verify its performance by measuring the return loss and received power in the FM, DMB, and GSM bands. The measured return loss was improved from -6 dB to -30 dB, and the measured received power was improved from 0.5 dBm to 5.2 dBm.
