Study on the assessment methodology for the PM10 generated from tire-dust considering the axle load of the truck according to the loading method (화물차 적재 방식에 따른 축 하중을 고려한 타이어 먼지 중 PM10 발생량 평가기법 연구)

  • Recently, regulations on automobile exhaust gas emission are being strengthened. Accordingly, automobile exhaust gas emissions are expected to decrease and continue to decrease. On the other hand, many countries do not yet consider the emission of non-exhaust air pollutants from automobiles as important. Automobile non-exhaust substances are classified into three categories: tire dust emissions, brake wear emissions, and road scattering dust. In particular, in the case of tire dust, research results exist that pollutant emissions increase as the weight of a vehicle increases. Since the weight of trucks varies according to the load and the load along the axles is also different, it can be expected that the emission of PM10 from the tire dust will be different depending on the loading method. Therefore, this study was conducted on the amount of PM10 generated in tire dust considering the axle load of the truck according to the loading method. However, it was confirmed that the total amount of PM10 was less than that all loads are loaded in the front or rear when the load was evenly distributed in the front and rear of the cargo compartment. In particular, if the load is distributed evenly in the front and back of the cargo compartment and the load in the front part is divided into 2 to 6 and loaded, as the number of divided loading increases the amount of PM10 generated decreases. And when the load is divided into 6 pieces, the total amount of PM10 generated is 0.3952g, the minimum value. If the load is divided into 6 or more and loaded evenly, the total PM10 generated continuously increases and converges to about 0.3964g.

  • Since the first domestic case of COVID-19 in 2020, social anxiety has caused people to avoid going outside, which has resulted in economic damage to alley commercial districts. However, even in the similar commercial districts, the economic impacts were different depending on the characteristics of the alley districts. This study identifies factors that affect the difference in sales of alleyways after COVID-19 by focusing on alley commercial districts in Seoul. Based on the review of previous studies, a total of 42 variables with six characteristics were constructed, and the principal component analysis was used to reduce the dimensionality of mixed variables. The variables were finally reduced to 12 variables and categorized into seven characteristics. We expect that the results of this study can be used as a basis for analyzing sales differences by standardizing the factors influencing sales in market districts that were previously uncategorized.

Working Mechanism of Peroxiredoxins (Prxs) and Sulphiredoxin1 (Srx1) in Arabidopsis thaliana (애기장대 peroxiredoxins (Prxs)과 sulphiredoxin1 (Srx1)의 작용기작)

  • Plants generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) as a by-product of normal aerobic metabolism or when exposed to a variety of stress conditions, which can cause widespread damage to biological macromolecules. To protect themselves from oxidative stress, plant cells are equipped with a wide range of antioxidant proteins. However, the detailed reaction mechanisms of these are still unknown. Peroxiredoxins (Prxs) are ubiquitous thiol-containing antioxidants that reduce hydrogen peroxide with an N-terminal cysteine. The active-site cysteine of peroxiredoxins is selectively oxidized to cysteine sulfinic acid during catalysis, which leads to inactivation of peroxidase activity. This oxidation was thought to be irreversible. Recently identified small protein sulphiredoxin (Srx1), which is conserved in higher eukaryotes, reduces cysteine.sulphinic acid in yeast peroxiredoxin. Srx1 is highly induced by $H_2O_2$-treatment and the deletion of its gene causes decreased yeast tolerance to $H_2O_2$, which suggest its involvement in the metabolism of oxidants. Moreover, Srx1 is required for heat shock and oxidative stress induced functional, as well as conformational switch of yeast cytosolic peroxiredoxins. This change enhances protein stability and peroxidase activity, indicating that Srx1 plays a crucial role in peroxiredoxin stability and its regulation mechanism. Thus, the understanding of the molecular basis of Srx1 and its regulation is critical for revealing the mechanism of peroxiredoxin action. We postulate here that Srx1 is involved in dealing with oxidative stress via controlling peroxiredoxin recycling in Arabidopsis. This review article thus will be describing the functions of Prxs and Srx in Arabidopsis thaliana. There will be a special focus on the possible role of Srx1 in interacting with and reducing hyperoxidized Cys-sulphenic acid of Prxs.

A Study on the Publicness of Brooklyn Navy Yard Industrial Business Zone - Focus on Policy, Managerial Responses - (브루클린 네이비 야드 산업단지의 공공성에 대한 연구- 정책·운영적 대응을 중심으로 -)

  • Semi-industrial zone is the area where manufacturing, residential, commercial zones are mixed. Despite of their potentials in that proximity to city and convenient transportation infrastructure, a lot of semi-industrial zones in Korea have converted to other uses due to many issues such as change of industry, increasing land price, real estate speculations. Recently, local government is trying to solve their existing issues and develop them through a restoration of publicness. Now publicness is thought of as a key factor of regeneration in semi-industrial areas. In this regard, this study aims to examine the way of restoring publicness revealed in Brooklyn Navy Yard mainly focus on their urban contexts and architectural ways. Brooklyn Navy Yard, an exemplary case, is an industrial complex that has grown economically, socially and culturally through emphasizing publicness and it is evaluated as an advanced example of public industrial complex. Through the analysis of Navy Yard, this study was trying to emphasize the importance of publicness in the regeneration of semi-industrial areas and to provide implications for the Seoul Government's solutions, which are still in the conceptual stage. To analyze the publicness of the study subjects, framework and elements were derived by examining related theories and prior researches. Depending on this frame, the results of the publicness of the Navy Yard were as follows. First of all, the 'Publicness as an officiality' was identified at the characteristic of the site and Navy Yard development corporation. Second, the 'Publicness as a public interest' of the Navy Yard Development Corporation was identified in various ways of its operation methods. Finally, the 'Publicness as an accessibility' was identified in the opening of urban and architectural spaces in Navy Yard. These publicness were analyzed with seven Navy Yard's success factors. Thus, it can be interpreted that the publicness of the semi-industrial areas can contribute significantly to their success. The publicness restoring methods of Navy Yard could be used as a basic data in semi-industrial areas in the future in Korea. However they are limited to be applied directly, so extensive and in-depth research in terms of their applicability should be conducted.

A Study on tile Presumption of Chang Pogo's Maritime Routes (해상왕 장보고의 해상항로 추정에 관한 연구)

  • According to the many ancient literatures, it is said to be that Merchant Prince, Chang Pogo in unification Silla had traded with not only China, Japan but also Arab-Islam Countries, but unfortunately there is no definite records about this. Therefore in this study the writer would like to presume the sea routes of Merchant Prince, Chang Pogo in a unification Silla. For the purpose of this study the writer would like to study the reference books and materials regarding to the sea routes of prehistoric age and ancient three countries of Kingdoms and unification Silla. Especially the writer consider “The Work of Routes and Kingdoms” of Ibn Khurdarhbih regarding to the ancient sea routes of Korea, China, Arab-Islam Countries, and also the writer consider the ancient sea routes of Tang Dynasty in China and Ryukyu Kingdom in Japan. About this methodology of this study, the writer believe that the sea routes of today is the results of ancient sea routes, and this ancient sea routes could not be changed forever except special circumstance. According in this study the writer would like to persume the sea routes of Merchant Prince, Chang Pogo using like this methodologies. This presumption of the writer is originated on the basis of The Work of Routes and Kingdoms written by ancient Arabian Geographer, Ibn Khurdadhbih in the early years of 9th century. The Work of Routes and Kingdoms is geography, and the principal contents of this geography are the activities of Arab-Islam merchants and Chinese Merchants between Arab-Islam countries and China from 9th century to 11th century by ancient sea routes. But surprisingly in this geography, Silla was marked, and another ancient Arabian geogrpher, Al-Biruni marked Silla on his map, Qanun Al-mas'udi in the 9th century, and also another ancient Arabian geographer, Al-Idrisi marked Silla on his map in the 11th century. Especially Al-Biruni expressed the longitude and latitude of Silla on his map, he expressed Silla as following. “at the extreme end of China toward the East and few people travelled to it by sea”. Therefore the writer would like to presume that Arab-Islam merchants had traded with unification Silla in the 9th century, and also Merchant Prince, Chang Pogo had traded with not only China, Japan but also Arab-Islam Countries using above ancient sea routes in the 9th century.
