The Effect of social presence and affection on usage and participation in the UCC service (UCC 서비스 이용과 참여에서의 사회적 실재감과 감정차원의 중요성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we investigate the effect of social presence and affection on usage and participation in the UCC service. We have conducted a face-to-face survey along with an e-mail survey and obtained a total of 329 responses. The findings show that social presence has a significant impact on pleasure and arousal. Social presence and pleasure in turn show a positive impact on using the UCC service. However, arousal has no significant influence on the UCC service usage. Participation in the UCC service appears to be a different behavior than the UCC usage. Pleasure shows a negative effect on the UCC service participation, while arousal very strongly and positively affects the UCC service participation. The significance of this study can be found in that it empirically demonstrates the importance of social presence and affection in promoting the UCC service usage.

  • UCC comes into the spotlight as keyword to lead forward web business with appearance of web 2.0 that has characteristic of 'participation, opening and sharing'. Despite continuous magnification of UCC's influence by spread of prosumer that consuming public participates actively in production and development of new platform, there is no clear business model of UCC. So, inside and outside of the country industry is trying various effort to break this situation. As basis research for establishment business model of UCC, this paper wished to examine the prospects of development by analyzed present condition of UCC service. That is, it drew problems of UCC service after examine concept and type of UCC, direction technology development and profit model through analyzed foreign countries and domestic example of UCC's service. It wished to watch the development direction of UCC service from that.

  • Due to advance of communication environment and storage media, economics at home and abroad gets changed to active consumption environment to make digital contents by oneself and to consume ones. Specially UCC to be made by a user has been generating the various effects enough to be a issue in all the world. UCC multimedia among UCC quickly emerges as a core of crustal movement of Internet and so does an enterprise to concentrate his efforts on UCC multimedia. In this paper, we analyze the technical trend for UCC multimedia service and review the base techniques. Throught these studies, we bring up the growing direction for development of UCC service at the future.

  • J.E.N(Joint Enjoyment Network) is the ubiquitous UCC play contents system that provides amusements off-line by utilizing the UCC that people are able to participate in. It is also the entertainment service system that is devised to use contents that could be enjoyed through the cell phone and to make people participate in production, in cases of meeting people off-line during their pastime. The development of this system begins from pointing out the problem of the limitation of the UCC that does participate in production but the produced contents could only be watched, and the UCC only works on-line. The goal of researching this ubiquitous UCC play contents is to suggest the UCC entertainment service system that are available off-line by applying the interactive system to UCC and, by this, to obtain the positive responses about the off-line participating UCC contents. In this research, it chooses scenario and 테스크 performance as the method of deriving the participating UCC from the off-line, and it suggests the ubiquitous UCC play contents system through analyzing the behaviors in each off-line place. Moreover, by developing the prototype that could practically perform the system, it verifies the potentialities of the UCC entertainment service. The anticipation of this study is to make people participate and enjoy not only in production, but also in the contents made. This research will provide the modern people who concern about where to go and what to do with the amusements and will also present a way of new form of contents mixed with UCC and the entertainment service.

  • Recently, there're lots of interest in UCC, user-created contents, in the Internet market. the sites providing only the UCC service are beginning to appear. I am going to find out their strengths and weaknesses and the future directions. I started this study by discussing the direction of the UCC business. Now we see that the video UCC contents in the portal sites are growing gradually.

  • The recent UCC video sector possesses an explosive potential for growth as it will act as a critical factor in determining the popularity of portal sites. We identified and compared the strengths and weaknesses in the UCC sector of "Naver" and "Daum", which are currently in the development phase, and we investigated alternatives as well as proposing an outlook for both portal companies. We believe a better UCC video service will be the deciding factor in a portal's popularity and therefore researches in the UCC video sector must continue.

  • In this paper, we identified factors that affect the usage of UCC, which is becoming increasingly popular in our society and throughout the globe. Four hypotheses were tested using a new integrative model of UCC usage, which is built up by incorporating the TAM and the PAD(pleasure-arousal-dominace)model. We analyzed the data collected in our survey of 258 individual UCC users during the period from Oct 2006 to Dec 2006. We found that pleasure and arousal showed a strong significant effect on individual's UCC usage, supporting the findings of the exiting research on TAM. To be specific, arousal had an effect on the UCC usage through its effect on pleasure and self efficacy. Pleasure affected the UCC usage in two ways: First, pleasure affected UCC usage through increasing the ease of UCC service. At the same time, pleasure had a direct effect on the UCC usage. Contrary to what the prior research on technology acceptance suggested, we found ease of use and social influence had no significant effect on individual's UCC usage. We further found that such effects of the ease of use and pleasure factors are more positive in the entertainment-based UCC than in the relationship-based UCC.

Effect of Trust in UCC Site on UCC Usage (UCC 서비스 사이트의 신뢰가 UCC사용자에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper aims at identifying trust factors to be managed in UCC environment, and how those trust factors impact on trust in UCC site. Also this paper examines the moderating effect of level of UCC participation(UCC retrieve, UCC production) on the relation between trust in UCC site and intention to use. For this purpose, we identified information, system, service, and site trust through intensive review of prior researches and some expert interviews. A total 338 surveys were used to analyze research hypothesis. The findings show that information, system, and service trust is positively and significantly related to site trust, and then site trust has impact on UCC usage. But, It is proven that there is no difference in effect of site trust on UCC usage according to level of UCC participation.

Consumer's Types of the Participation and the Motivation for the UCC Services (소비자의 UCC 참여 유형과 참여동기 분석)

  • This study identifies key determinants and types of participation in UCC Services. The research examines the how the major factors in perception of social presence, fun and entertainment, self-expression, arousal, human relations, positive feedback, information sharing, monetary business opportunity, and user friendliness of web structure contribute to participation in UCC Services. The data used in this study were collected by a web-based survey so that 629 internet users were available for analysis. Some of the practical implications of the results are follows. We have categorized that the type of people participating in UCC Services were readers, modifiers, remixers, and creators. Digital consumers directly connected with other consumers by producing their own digital contents. Multiple regression analysis among the creators group was not included due to small sample size. Self expression, fun and joy and the convenience of the web interface showed strong positive significant impacts on the UCC Service participation of all participation types. Information sharing, other's positive reputation and arousal showed a positive significant impact on the modifiers or remixers type groups. Monetary business opportunity and human relations were not significant in any UCC type group.
