Customer Model Analysis for UCC Knowledge Sharing Service : A Case (UCC 지식 동영상 공유 서비스의 고객 모델 분석 사례)

  • As knowledge is now being distributed and shared through the Internet not only in the form of text but also in that of video, UCC (User Created Content) knowledge video sharing services have emerged on the Internet such as Instructables.com. This paper deals with a UCC knowledge video service in real world and reports the case of analyzing its customer model. The knowledge video sharing service can be considered as both a kind of discontinuous innovation, which requires knowledge provider's technical ability of creating and editing UCC video, and a value network, which matches UCC providers and consumers therefore brings network effect, we first adopt the Chasm theory as the base of the customer model and refine the customer model referencing the Technographics, which is also an Internet-refinement of the Chasm model. Finally, non-customer analysis of Blue Ocean strategy is applied for exploring potential customers of the service.

Digital Contents Consumption and Consumer Characteristics (소비 행동에 따른 동영상 컨텐츠 소비자 유형 구분과 특징)

  • In Korean society, digital contents such as VCC has introduced a new medium of advertisement and has become a culture. This research aims to investigate consumer characteristics for different types of consumption patterns for services dealing with digital contents. A total of 96 statements were extracted from literature review and popular press articles and 39 participants participated in this study. The results show 6 types of consumption patterns: Gak-jang-ee, Second-level Celebrity, Viewers, Politicians, Humanists, and Paris Hilton. These groups demonstrate consumer's behavioral characteristics and personal values. This study is meaningful in that it provides an insight for marketing strategies for corporations dealing with digital contents such as VCC.

  • These days, information technology is rapidly changing our society. Thus, considering such a business environment, many companies are seeking revenue models for successful business. In particular, digital content with the convergence of culture and information technology create revenue for businesses. For this reason, many companies are interested in UGC (User Generated Content), which refers to various kinds of publicly accessible media content that are produced by end-users. Thus, this paper analyzed the attributes of UGC and businesses using ubiquitous technology. From this analysis, this paper shows the critical success factors for UGC in ubiquitous business environments. In addition, this paper analyzed the attributes of UGC through the research of literature reviews and expert reviews. Based on this research, many companies are encouraged to develop successful digital content generated by end-users.

  • 새로운 미디어와 창의적인 발상으로 유비쿼터스 기반 상거래에 대한 요구는 날로 증가하고 있다. 사용자 참여형 U-commerce 비즈니스 시나리오를 구성하고, 이에 따라 디지털 아이템 상거래에 필요한 요구사항을 정의한다. 이를 위하여, 각 단계 별로 수익모델을 중심으로 서비스 흐름을 고찰하고, IPTV를 비롯한 휴대폰, 텔레매틱 단말, PDA 등 각종 U-Commerce 서비스가 가능한 단말에서의 양방향 서비스를 고찰하며, 설계된 분류체계를 SOA 기반 U-commerce의 실질적인 운영에 이를 활용가능하게 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 특히, 본 논문에서는 UCC와 같은 P2P를 중심으로 하여 SOiVA(Service Oriented interactive Video Application)를 활용한 U-commerce 운영 서비스 요구사항을 연구하였다.

  • With the development and invention of computer and internet, GIS (Geographic Information System) has provided diverse services to users. Web 2.0, the next generation web, has been developed to create a new business by accumulating and structuring information from many users. The characteristics of Web 2.0 are blog, longtail distribution, SNS, DCC, collective intelligence, and so on. This study proposes a GIS 2.0 service model to maximize the introduction effect and use of GIS by the method that two-way communication and the participation of consumer, characteristics of Web 2.0, are used to build more practical GIS rather than providing spatial information in one-way and simple inquiry oriented way.

A Study on the Interest of SNS Users according to New Media Fashion Content Types -Focus on Vogue Korea's Official Instagram- (뉴미디어 패션 콘텐츠 유형에 따른 사용자의 SNS 관심도 연구 -보그 코리아 공식 인스타그램 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to find trends in new media fashion content by analyzing the fashion content of the official Instagram accounts of domestic fashion magazines that are being transformed by digital media. The framework for these analysis of fashion content type and methods of production is based on one used in an earlier research project. Empirical analysis is conducted on Vogue Korea's official Instagram accounts, using the highest number of major views as the secondary measure of interest. After screening for fashion content in posts on the Vogue Korea account for four months, 291 short video postings were extracted to analyze the number of views the postings received. The results were categorized as 'star', 'show/exhibition', 'product', 'shop', 'fashion film', 'designer', or 'event', included in the data are the number of postings by type and the number of views by post. Based on the characteristics of the creator and the editing, the posts were classified into 'professional production highlight', 'professional production private', 'UCC' or 'GIF' videos, the number of views per post were also collected. The research results show different levels of interest depending on the type of fashion content, and also on the way the videos were produced. The study also investigated how the combination of these two factors affects interest. When producing a new media fashion content, combining a 'star' type post with 'professional production private' video content was most popular. The selection of production method is therefore important even given the same type of content.

  • 사회적 컴퓨팅(social computing)의 현상이 Web 2.0 공급사슬(supply chain)의 변화관점에서 새로운 변화의 단계를 맞이하고 있다. Web 2.0 플랫폼을 어떤 형태로 기업 활동에 활용할 것인가 하는 문제제기에 대하여 다양한 기업 활동의 변화사례가 발견되고 있다. 본 논문은 그와 같은 다양한 Web 2.0 환경 확산에 대한 기업 활동의 변화현상 중에서 Web 2.0 플랫폼을 기반으로 한 신제품개발(New Product Development) 사례연구를 통하여 진행한 결과를 반영하였다. 신제품 개발을 위한 플랫폼으로서 Web 2.0 의 협업적 환경을 설계하게 될 경우, 고객의 내재적 요구사항(latent requirement)이 제품개발에 효과적으로 반영될 수 있도록 하는 절차(process)가 기존의 제품개발방법론과 연관되어, 어떤 형태로 적용되고 개선되어 발전될 수 있는가에 대한 경험적 사례를 사례연구방법의 탐험적 경향을 활용하여 살펴보았다. 본 논문에서 다루어졌던 사례는 Web 2.0 플랫폼을 기반으로 사용자 창작 콘텐츠(User Created Content)를 생산하고 증가된 연세대학교 UCC의 양적 팽창에 의해서 수익모델이 발생하는 전형적인 Web 2.0 비즈니스 모델의 구조를 보여주는 경우였다. 본 연구를 통해서 사용자의 내재적 요구사향을 Web 2.0 기술특성을 통해서 참여적 사용자, 혹은 사용자 디자이너들의 적극적인 활동에 의해서 개선 및 구현해 가는 과정을 구체적 개발방법론의 틀로서 정착하려는 시도를 하였다.

The Analyses of Successful Strategy for Internet Portals: From the Analyses of M&A Cases (인터넷 포탈의 성공적인 분석: 인수합병 사례를 중심으로)

  • Currently, most of big IT companies attempt to penetrate into Internet portal industry aggressively in order to expand their channels(sale, distribution, marketing, R&D, and so on) and to acquire competitive advantages. Existing Internet portals also have become larger and more complex with continuous developments. Therefore, it is necessary to acquire competitive contents to survive the extreme competition and to satisfy diverse needs of customers. In this paper, we have done qualitative analyses on the cases of domestic and foreign major Internet portals which have acquired contents through of M&A and strategic alliances. In our analyses, we identify five factors crucial to the successes and failures of Internet portals. From the analyses, we find that the acquisition of UCC based contents and subscribers over the critical mass point are the two most important factors that should be simultaneously satisfied for the successful M&As. Additional analyses suggest how to acquire synergy effects from successful M&As.
