Characterization and function of human Ly-6/uPAR molecules

  • Human Ly-6/uPAR molecules are a superfamily composed of two subfamilies; one is the membrane bound proteins with a GPI-anchor and the other are secreted proteins without the GPI-anchor. Ly-6/uPAR molecules have remarkable amino acid homology through a distinctive 8-10 cysteine-rich domain that is associated predominantly with O-linked glycans. These molecules are encoded by multiple tightly linked genes located on Chr. 8q23, and have a conserved genomic organization. Ly-6/uPAR molecules have an interesting expression pattern during hematopoiesis and on specific tumors indicating that Ly-6/uPAR molecules are associated with development of the immune system and carcinogenesis. Thus, Ly-6/uPAR molecules are useful antigens for diagnostic and therapeutic targets. This review summarizes our understanding of human Ly-6/uPAR molecules with regard to molecular structure as well as what is known about their function in normal and malignant tissues and suggest Ly-6/uPAR molecules as target antigens for cancer immunotherapy.

Structural Design and Analysis of a 6U Nano-Satellite HiREV (6U급 초소형위성 HiREV의 구조 설계 및 해석)

  • The Korea Aerospace Research Institute has developed a 6U HiREV Nano-satellite for the observation of the earth using high resolution videos and images. Since the 6U Nano-satellite is bulky compared to the 1U/3U Nano-satellite, the first natural frequency is relatively low. Large equivalent stress and total deformation, due to structural load, can be generated. In this paper, the design of the 6U HiREV Nano-satellite is described and structure analysis, such as acceleration load analysis, modal analysis, and random vibration analysis are carried out. It is proven that the structural design of the 6U HiREV is stable. These results will be useful as reference materials for the development of additional 6U Nano-satellites, which will be applied to various future missions in KOREA.

  • Our aim in this paper is to introduce a generalization of some notions in homological algebra. We define the concepts of chain U-complex, U-homology, chain (U, U')-map, chain (U, U')-homotopy and $\mu$-functor. We also obtain some interesting results. We use these results to find a generalization of Lambek Lemma, Snake Lemma, Connecting Homomorphism and Exact Triangle.

  • The flagella antigenic variation of nine Bacillus thuringiensis serovar kurstaki temperature-sensitive mutants grown at the permissive temperature (3$0^{\circ}C$) was detected by a serological agglutination between H-antigen and antiserum. The flagella antigens were injected to rabbits to prepared their antisera, and then their homologous and heterologous titers of the antisera were measured. The homologous titers were ranged from 1:6,400 to 1:12,800, but the heterologous titers were very low. The H-antigen of the wild type strain was not agglutinated to 4 heterologous antisera, ts-U23 not to 7, ts-U3l not 5, ts-U32 not to 4, ts-U33 not to 7, ts-U7l not to 4, ts-U73 not to 6, ts-U74 not to 6, ts-U91 not to 4 and ts-U603 not to 4 antisera.

Conceptual Design of 6U Micro-Satellite System for Optical Images of 3 m GSD (3 m급 광학영상 촬영을 위한 6U 초소형위성 시스템 개념설계)

  • The purpose of this study was to present a conceptual design of the 6U micro-satellite system for optical image of 3 m GSD. An optical camera system with a payload of 3 m GSD image was designed and optimized. The optical system has a diameter of Ø78 mm, length 250 mm, and 1400 mm focal length. The requirement and constraints were configured for the 6U micro-satellite bus system with the payload. Satisfying the requirement and constraints, the subsystems of the 6U bus were designed such as attitude and orbit control, propulsion, command and data handling, electrical power, communication, structures and mechanisms, and thermal control subsystem. The mass budget, power budget, and communication link budget were also confirmed for the 6U micro-satellite comprising the optical payload and the subsystems of bus. To take optical images, a mission operation concept is proposed for the 6U micro-satellite in a low-Earth orbit. A constellation comprising many 6U micro-satellites studied in this paper, can provide with various data for reconnaissance and disaster tracking.

Synopsis of the Stargazer Fish, Family Uranoscopidae (Perciformes) from Korea (한국산 통구멍과(농어목) 어류의 분류)

  • The taxonomic revision of the family Uranoscopidae from Korea was made on the basis of the speciemens collected in the coasts of the Korea from 1986 to 1994. The key to the species and genera for classification of the famiiy Uranoscopidae was provided with synonym and their distributions. The stagazer fishes from Korea are composed of 6 species in 3 genera: Uranoscopus Japonicus, U. bicinctus, U. chinensis, U. tosae, Gnathagnus eolngatus and Ichthyscopus lebeck sannio. The Korean stagazer fishes were widely distributed in the West and South Sea of Korea, but only Ichthyscopus lebeck sannio distributed in the around sea of Cheju Island.

  • In this paper, using B.Ricceri's three critical points theorem, we prove the existence of at least three classical solutions for the problem $$\{u^{(4)}(t)={\lambda}f(t,\;u(t)),\;t{\in}(0,\;1),\\u(0)=u(1)=u^{\prime}(0)=u^{\prime}(1)=0,$$ under appropriate hypotheses.

  • Plutionum, neptunium, and uranium isotopes which were produced in the interaction of $^{136}$ Xe and $^{244}$ Pu are separated and determined their cross sections. The cross sections are: $\sigma$($^{245}$ Pu)=66 mb, $\sigma$($^{243}$ Pu)=57 mb, $\sigma$($^{246}$ Pu)=6.0 mb, $\sigma$($^{239}$ Np)=15 mb, $\sigma$($^{240}$ U)=12 mb, $\sigma$($^{245}$ U)=6.4 mb respectively.

Exploratory Study of Success Factors for U-Health System and Analysis of It's Weight (U-Health 서비스의 성과에 영향을 미치는 성공요인과 중요도 분석)

  • This study was to analyze the influences of various factors on the u-health service. Data was surveyed from experienced of u-Health service sectors. We measured legal support, IT-infra, user education, the user education, and the u-Health solution, are the critical success factors for the u-Health service. Also we evaluated u-Health services by survey data from the users. We did also the research to evaluate the validity and reliability of these factors. After that the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was applied to measure the weights among these factors. Factor analysis resulted in 6 major factors (Eigenvalue > 1.0). The AHP analysis showed the list of Critical Success Factors weighted by its significance priorities. The results of this paper could be the valuable references for the policy making process of the u-Health system in Korea.
