A Transformer protective Relaying Algorithm Based on Increment of Flux Linkages (쇄교자속비를 이용한 변압기 보호 알고리즘)

  • This paper propose a transformer protective relaying algorithm based on the increment of flux linkages (RIFL) of the Primary and secondary windings. The RIFL is equal to the turn ratio for all operating conditions except an internal faults. For a single-phase transformer and three-phase Y-Y transformer, the increments of flux linkages are calculated and their ratios are compared with the turn ratio. For a three-phase Y-$\triangle$ transformer, the difference of the increments of flux linkages are calculated to use the line currents instead of the delta winding currents, which are practically unavailable. Their ratios are compared with the turn ratio. The results of various tests show that the algorithm successfully discriminates internal faults from normal operation conditions such as magnetic inrush and overexcitation. The algorithm can not only detect internal winding faults, but reduce the relay's operating time.

Influence of Frictional Behavior Depending on Contact Pressure on Springback at U Draw Bending (접촉 압력에 의한 마찰 특성 변화가 U 드로우 굽힘에서의 스프링백에 미치는 영향)

  • Variation of contact pressure causes change of friction coefficient, which in turn changes stress distribution in the sheet being formed and final springback. In the present study, U-draw bending experiments were carried out under constant blank holding force(BHF) and different blank sizes, and finite element analysis was conducted with and without considering contact pressure effect on friction. When the BHF was sufficiently high, the degree of springback was different between constant blank holding pressure condition and that with varying blank holding pressure. Finite element analysis considering the influence of contact pressure effect on friction could explain the occurrence of springback.

  • There are many limitations in dealing with rapidly changing traffic demand in urban cities. Thus recently, traffic operation and management skills are more emphasized rather than the expansion of traffic facilities. In particular, in the interrupted flow formed by signalized intersections, it is quite important to give optimal signal timing to each intersection with consideration of progression. However, as fixed signal times per direction can affect passing capacity in signalized intersections, the present four-signal phase including a left-turn signal has many limitations, including reduction of directional road capacity when traffic demand is increases dramatically during peak hours. Because of this problem, lots of studies about internal metering techniques for oversaturated signal control skills have progressed but these techniques are not used widely due to the absence of detectors for queue sensing in real-time signal control systems. In this research, a new methodology called the "restrictive left-turn signal control", which is already used at the intersection above Samsung subway station, is suggested in order to reduce control delay of urban arterial roads. The restrictive left-turn signal control allows a driver to make a U-turn and then a right turn instead of turning left in that intersection. With this change, the restrictive left-turn signal control can contribute to increased intersection capacity by reducing the number of signal phases and maximizing the through phase time. However, road structure and traffic conditions at the target intersections should be considered before the adoption of the proposed signal control.

Solenoid Type 3-D Passives(Inductors and Trans-formers) For Advanced Mobile Telecommunication Systems

  • In this paper, solenoid-type 3-D passives (inductors and transformers) have been designed, fabricated, and characterized by using electroplating techniques, wire bonding techniques, multi-layer thick photoresist, and low temperature processes which are compatible with semiconductor circuitry fabrication. Two different fabrication approaches are performed to develop the solenoid-type 3-D passives and relationship of performance characteristics and geometry is also deeply investigated such as windings, cross-sectional area of core, spacing between windings, and turn ratio. Fully integrated inductor has a quality factor of 31 at 6 GHz, an inductance of 2.7 nH, and a self resonant frequency of 15.8 GHz. Bonded wire inductor has a quality factor of 120, an inductance of 20 nH, and a self resonant frequency of 8 GHz. Integrated transformers with turn ratios of 1:1 and n:l have the minimum insertion loss of about 0.6 dB and the wide bandwidth of a few GHz.

  • On-off differential controller is one of the very important components which affect the system performance of the active solar thermal system. In this study, analyses were made regarding the influence of "on-off" setting temperature on the system efficiency and on the electrical consumption by circulation pump. This study was performed by experiment as well as the computer simulation using TRNSYS program. The simulation system was developed in this study was verified the its reliability by the experimental results. As a results, the turn off temperature(${\Delta}T_{off}$) is much more influence than the turn on temperature(${\Delta}T_{on}$) on the system efficiency. It is more clear and sensitivity in winter season. Finally the optimum on-off setting value and the system on-off pattern according to the several different kind of system was also represented.

  • The solid-phase synthesis of new series of 1,6,8-trisubstituted tetrahydro-2H-pyrazino[1,2-a]pyrimidine-4,7-diones as bicyclic $\beta$-turn mimetics is described. Their NF-kB inhibition activities were tested and the effect of substituents on bicyclic ring was investigated. Among the prepared compounds, the fluorobenzyl and methoxybenzyl group substituted compounds 26 and 27 at C-1 and C-8 position showed more inhibitory activities than the others. Tested at a concentration of 10 uM, these two compounds showed a 60% inhibition against the target NF kB 549.

Improving Two-way Road Functionality by Using Shoulder (길어깨를 활용한 2차로 도로 기능개선 방안 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is deriving proper plan which is improving functionality of three-way intersection in two-way road by using shoulder. Alternatives of this study were considered as installation of yield lane and application of TWLTLs (Two-Way Left-Turn Lanes). Case studies to utilize alternatives were limited to national and local roadways which is wider than 11 meters due to be required 3 lanes. Under various traffic conditions such as traffic volume of each direction and left-turn, alternatives were analyzed by simulation. As a results, application of TWLTLs was better than installation of yield lane in terms of improving rate (8.0% vs. 3.7%). Application of TWLTLs is supposed to better alternative, however enough driver education is required to improving safety because it is different with existing driving pattern and/or behaviors. Some limitations and future research agenda have also been discussed by on-site inspections.

  • We obtain similar types of conclusions as that of $Br{\ddot{u}}ck$ [1] for two differential polynomials which in turn radically improve and generalize several existing results. Moreover a number of examples have been exhibited to justify the necessity or sharpness of some conditions used in the paper. At last we pose an open problem for future research.

An Exploratory Study on the 2018 North Korea-U.S. Summit News and Singapore's Place Branding

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine how mainstream international media cover a major political event like the 2018 North Korea-U.S. Summit and how place branding effect is manifested on the Internet. A quantitative content analysis was conducted. A total of 1,990 relevant Internet news stories were collected from May 9 to June 17, 2018 and the types of media mentions Singapore as country and brand received were analyzed. As expected, Singapore garnered worldwide media coverage which in turn helped promote the island-nation's brand. International media reported on Singapore as a Summit location while also highlighting it as an important and attractive, cultural, historical destination. The study's findings indicate that global broadcasters such as CNN and BBC played the biggest role during the Summit in disseminating images of Singapore and landmarks as attractive places. Finally, the visual aspect of the event coverage also served as a formidable marketing instrument in bolstering the nation's brand.

Traffic Characteristics of U-TURN and Capacity Analysis of Multiple U-TURNS (U턴의 교통 특성 및 다중 U턴 용량 분석 -전용 U턴 차로를 대상-)

  • 본 연구는 U턴 효율적 운영에 필요한 기초자료 즉, U턴 이동류에 대한 차두시간, 출발손실시간, 승용차 환산계수 그리고 포화교통류율을 산정하였다. 또한 다중 U턴 횟수, U턴 허용 길이별 U턴 용량 특성을 분석하였다. 연구결과를 보면, U턴 평균 차두시간은 2.43초이고 이에 따른 포화교통율은 1,480(pcph)로 분석되었다. 출발손실은 두 번째 차량까지 손실이 있어 1.57초로 산정 되었다. 승용차 환산계수는 대형차 혼입율에 따라 1.98에서 1.35사이에 분포하며 평균값은 1.78이다. 그리고 주기당 다중 U턴 횟수가 많을수록 포화교통류율이 커졌으며 횟수가 1회, 2회 및 3회일 때 포화교통류율이 각각 1,600, 1,650 및 1,800pcph로 나타났다. U턴 허용 길이가 늘어나면 포화교통류율이 늘어나며 18m, 21m 및 30m로 증가될 때 1,570, 1,610, 및 1,640pcph로 증가하는 것이로 분석되었다.
