This study analyzed the repeated error patterns in division of fraction by elementary students through observation of their test papers. The questions for this study were following. First, what is the most changable thing among the repeated error patterns appeared in division of fraction by elementary students? Second, what is the most frequent error patterns in division of fraction by elementary students? First of all, the ratios of incorrect answers in division of fraction by general students were researched. This research was the only one time. The purpose was to know what kind of compositions in the problems were appeared more errors. Total 554 6th grade students(300 boys and 254 girls) from 6 elementary schools in Seoul are participated in this research. On the basis of this, the study for analysis began in earnest. 5 tests made progress for about 4 months. Total 181 6th grade students(92 boys and 89 girls) from S elementary school in Seoul were participated in this. After each test, to confirm the errors and to classify them were done. Then the repeated error patterns were arranged into 4 types: alpha, beta, gamma and delta type. Consequently, conclusions can be derived as follows. First, most students modify their errors as time goes by even though they make errors about already learned contents. Second, most students who appeared errors make them continually caused a reciprocal of natural number in the divisor when they calculate computations about '(fraction) $\div$ (natural number)'. Third, most students recognize that the divisor have to change the reciprocal when they calculate division of fraction through they modify their errors repeatedly.

In this paper, a coaxial sample holder is proposed with its de-embedding and parameter extraction procedure. The S-parameters were measured up to 1 GHz using network analyzer, HP8753D, and N-type connector together with the de-embedding of N-type connector. The proposed de-embedding procedure is performed to extract electrical parameters of blood glucose, which gives the permittivity of blood glucose. We also analyzed the error of extracted parameters, which are caused by instrument error and geometrical error. Using these error analyses, we reduced the error factors of extracted parameters. We extracted electrical parameters of glucose samples through these all extraction procedure and confirmed the possibility of glucose diagnosis system based on microwave system.
An optimal 3-point quadrature formula of closed type is derived. It is shown that the optimal quadrature formula has a better error bound than the well-known Simpson's rule. A corrected formula is also considered. Various error inequalities for these formulas are established. Applications in numerical integration are given.
This paper proposes a simple control chart method which can be practically used for asymmetric process data where the distribution is unknown. If we use the Shewhart type control charts which are based on normality assumption for the asymmetric process data, the type I error could increase as the asymmetry increases and the effectiveness of control chart to control variation decreases. To solve such problems, this paper suggests to calculate the control limits based on the quartiles. If we obtain the control limits by such quartile method, the type I error could decrease and it looks much more practical for asymmetric distributed process data.

The multi type heat pump system may provide more energy savings and better environmental conditions than the single type heat pump system may do. In order to design a multi type heat pump system, it may be recommended to develop the system simulation program, which can predict the characteristics of the system such as unit capacities, power consumptions, and system COP's. In this study, the steady state simulation program of the multi type heat pump system was developed. The results from the simulation program were compared with those from the experimental tests which were performed in the environmental chamber, Cooling tests show 3.11% and 0.94% of error in capacity and COP, and heating tests show 3.30% and 1.90% of error in capacity and COP, respectively. Therefore, the steady state simulation program developed for this study can effectively be used for the design and the performance prediction of the multi type heat pump system.
Because the rain gauges of tipping bucket type can easily use the digital signal, the rain gauges are widely used for the meteorological observation. In general, the resolution of rain gauges of tipping bucket type can be categorized by the 0.1mm, 0.5mm, and 1.0mm classes. But, the error of the tipping bucket rain gauges is made by the intensity of rainfalls and is expected to make the standard calibration method for error measurement. Thus, we developed the hardware of standard calibration facility for rain gauges by weighting measurement method and proposed the standard procedure by rainfall intensity in this study. Also, we calculated the error for the rainfall intensity and obtained useful result through the proposed calibration method.

A number of creep rupture data for type 316LN stainless steels were collected through literature survey or experimental data produced in KAERI. Using these data, polynomial equations for predicting creep life were obtained by Larson-Miller (L-M), Orr-Sherby-Dorn (O-S-D) and Manson-Haferd (M-H) parameters using time-temperature parametric (TTP) methods. Standard error of estimate (SEE) values for the each parameter was obtained with different temperatures through the statistical process of the creep data. The results of L-M, O-S-D and M-H methods showed good creep-life prediction, but M-H method showed better agreement than L-M and O-S-D methods. Especially, it was found that SEE values of M-H method at $700^{\circ}C$ were lower than that of L-M and O-S-D methods.

In this paper, the performance of three types of serial concatenated convolutional codes (SCCC) in AWGN (additive white Gaussian noise) channel is compared and analyzed. As results of simulations, it can be observed that Type I shows the best error performance at lower signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) region. However, Type III shows the best error performance at higher SNR region. It can be also observed the error floor that the performance cannot be improved even though increasing of the number of iterations and SNR at Type I. However, the performance of Type II and Type III are still improved over the five iterations at higher SNR without error floor. And BER performance of three types can be closed to upper bound of three types with increase of SNR. It can be also observed that the upper bound of Type III shows the best performance among the three types due to the greatest free distance.

Case Based Reasoning (CBR) has come to be considered as an appropriate technique for diagnosis, prognosis and prescription in medicine. However, canventional CBR has a limitation in that it cannot incorporate asymmetric misclassification cast. It assumes that the cast of type1 error and type2 error are the same, so it cannot be modified according ta the error cast of each type. This problem provides major disincentive to apply conventional CBR ta many real world cases that have different casts associated with different types of error. Medical diagnosis is an important example. In this paper we suggest the new knowledge extraction technique called Cast-Sensitive Case Based Reasoning (CSCBR) that can incorporate unequal misclassification cast. The main idea involves a dynamic adaptation of the optimal classification boundary paint and the number of neighbors that minimize the tatol misclassification cast according ta the error casts. Our technique uses a genetic algorithm (GA) for finding these two feature vectors of CSCBR. We apply this new method ta diabetes datasets and compare the results with those of the cast-sensitive methods, C5.0 and CART. The results of this paper shaw that the proposed technique outperforms other methods and overcomes the limitation of conventional CBR.
Purpose: To investigate the proper distance from patient to target when measuring refractive error using open view target type auto-refractor(OVTAR), it was compared refractive errors between by OVTAR using N-vision-K5001 auto-refractor and internal fixation target type auto-refractor(IFTAR) using Canon auto-refractor. Methods: 21 subjects(42 eyes) aged 22.2(${\pm}$3.4) years old who had over 1.0 of corrected visual acuity and no ocular disease were participated for this study. Noncycloplegic measurements of refractive error were performed using a IFTAR(RK-F1, Canon, Japan) and an OVTAR(N-vision-K5001, Shin-nippon, Japan). The distances from subjects to targets in using the open the view target type auto-refractor were 1 m, 3 m, 4 m and 6 m. The refractive errors were compared between by IFTAR and by 1 m, 3 m, 4 m and 6 m target distances respectively using OVTAR. Results: At 1 m fixation distance the mean of refractive errors for total subjects was not significantly different between by OVTAR(-2.75${\pm}$1.84 D) and by IFTAR(-2.95${\pm}$2.04 D)(p=0.06). However at 3, 4 and 6 m fixation distance refractive errors by OVTAR were significantly lower myopic refractive errors than by IFTAR(p<0.05). Conclusions: The distance from subject to fixation target is needed over 3 m for the measurement of refractive error using OVTAR even not to 5~6 m distance.
