  • Main purpose of this article is to consider the asymptotic distribution of the rank transformed F statistic for interaction in a two-way layout. Some theorems and sufficient conditions are derived to have the rank transformed F statistic converged in distribution to a chi-squared random variable with (I-1)(J-1) degrees of freedom divided by (I-1)(J-1). These results will be useful for the other theoretical studies of the rank transform procedure in experimental designs.

  • Due to economic growth, the number of cars has grown rapidly and consequently traffic accidents have grown in direct ratio. This reminds us that braking device of a vehicle is an important factor to prevent traffic accidents. Aim these researches to speed and lighten the braking system of vehicles, to lengthen its durability and to shorten the stopping distance. However, it is still difficult to analyze quantitatively and clearly the reason and solution for abnormal wear of disc and pad or judder in flywheel mode. Therefore this study was carried out to presume for mutual relation of analysis condition to get the optimum temperature by two-way layout. The results shown that coefficient of determination has a fine reliability over 92.57% and temperature is made by two-way layout.

  • Kruskal and Wallis (1952) proposed typical nonparametric method in one-way layout problem. A special feature of this procedure is use of rank in mixed samples. In this paper, the new procedure based on placement as extension of the two sample placement tests described in Orban and Wolfe (1982) was proposed. Some critical values in small sample cases and comparative results of a Monte Carlo power study are presented.

  • A problem of relevant interest to some industries is that of the optimum two-dimensional layout. In this problem, one is given a number of rectangular sheets and an order for a specified number of each of certain types of two-dimensional regular and irregular shapes. The aim is to cut the shapes out of the sheets in such a way as to minimize the amount of waste produced. In this paper, we propose a genetic algorithms using rotation parameters by which the best pattern of layout is found.

  • In this paper, a new approach for cable layout design of pre-stressed concrete slabs is presented. To account the cable profile accurately, it is modelled by B-spline. Using the convex hull property of the B-spline, an efficient algorithm has been developed to obtain the cable layout for pre-stressed concrete slabs. For finite element computations, tendon and concrete are modelled by 3 noded bar and 20 noded brick elements respectively. The cable concrete interactions are precisely accounted using vector calculus formulae. Using the proposed technique a two way prestressed concrete slab has been successfully designed considering several design criteria.

  • This paper proposes a method for detecting interactions in a two-way layout with one observation per cell. The identification of interactions in the model is not clear for they are confounding with error terms. The $L_1$-Estimation is robust with respect to a y-direction outlier in linear model so we are able to estimate main effects without affection of interactions, If an observation is classified as an outlier we conclude it contains an interaction. An empirical study compared with a classical method is performed.

  • This paper addresses the facility layout problem in multi-bay environments, where the bays are connected at one or both ends by an inter-bay material handling system. In most previous studies, the main concern is to allocate facilities or departments to the bays whose widths are fixed. In this research, we suggest the efficient models that provide the optimal layout solution under flexible bay width environments. We also suggest a mathematical model that provides the optimal solution using two-way facility allocation approach instead of one-way allocation technique. This paper also shows the approach of TABU search to the assignment and layout design of the departments. The results generated from TABU search are compared to the result from the mathematical model. Models are developed using mixed integer programming for various test problems and solved by CPLEX.

The aim is to cut the the shapes out of the sheets in such a way as to minimize the amount of waste produced. A DCS (Distributed Control System) is an integrated system which applies the decentralization concept to a control system handling both sequential and analog control. A DCS performs many operations such as data gathering, data processing, data storing and monitoring the operatin conditions for the operator. IN this paper, we propose a genetic algorithm based on rotation parameters from which the best pattern of layout is found as well as a layout method for better performance time. A DCS for the plate cutting process system, which is performed by a virtual system, is also identified.

  • There are two main halls in the Main Palace of the Koryo Dyansty in the 11th and 12th century. One, named Hoekyongjeon, was served only for special ceremony ; hundred Buddhist priests' sermons or receiption of Chinese emperor's letters. The other one, Kondukjeon, was used as ordinary throne hall. The ordinary throne hall was built when the palace was erected at the beginning era of the Koryo Danasty, while the special ceremony hall built after the reconstruction in the 11th century. The throne hall was located at northwest side of the special ceremony hall. Audience chamber and King's bedroom were located at west and northwest side of the throne hall. The basic layout of the Palace showed unsymmetrical shape. It seemed mainly effected by its undulating terraine. The acess road from main gate to the throne hall showed zigzag way, by following a stream penetrating the site obliquely, It could be said that the Main Palace of the Koryo Danasty achieved its originality on the aspect of unsymmetrical layout and zigzag acess road, which was not found in the former palaces.

  • It is demonstrated that many standard nonparametric test such as the Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon test, the Fisher-Yates test, the Savage test and the median test are admissible for a two-sample nonparametric testing problem. The admissibility of the Kruskal-Wallis test is demonstrated for a nonparametric one-way layout testing problem.
