  • This paper proposes a two-phase interleaved bridgeless single-stage ac-dc converter with magnetic integration that can achieve CCM power factor correction without input current sensing. All switches achieve ZVS turn-on and all diodes achieve ZCS turn-on for the whole grid cycle. SDAB-based modulation strategy is applied which results in simple power control and wide range output voltage. A flux cancellation method to integrate the interleaved transformer is firstly proposed in this paper to reduce the core size and loss. Experimental results on a 1.7-kW, 50kHz prototype are given to verify the principle and advantages of the proposed ac-dc converter.

  • The two-phase interleaved bidirectional DC-DC converter (TIBDC) is a very attractive solution to problems related to battery energy storage systems. However, the hard-switching TIBDC increases the switching loss and electromagnetic interference noise when the switching frequency increases. Hence, a soft-switching technique is required to overcome these disadvantages. In this study, a novel TIBDC with zero-voltage transition (TIBDC-ZVT) is proposed. Soft switching in the boost and buck main switches is achieved through a resonant cell that consists of a single resonant inductor and four auxiliary switches. Given its single resonant inductor, the proposed TIBDC-ZVT has a reduced size and can easily be implemented. The validity of the proposed TIBDC-ZVT is verified through experimental results.

  • An LLC series resonant converter has many unique characteristics and improvements over PWM topologies. However, many output capacitors are needed in parallel to satisfy output voltage ripple and the rated ripple current of the capacitors. This paper deals with a novel two phase interleaved LLC resonant converter using a phase of the resonant capacitor. The proposed converter can satisfy output voltage ripple and a rated ripple current of capacitors with few output capacitors, relatively. The operation and features are considered in detail and a prototype with a 12V-100A output is investigated.

  • This study proposes a two-phase non-inverting buck-boost converter that uses a coupled inductor. The multi-phase converter has many advantages over single-phase counterparts, such as reduced output current ripple and conduction loss in switching devices and passive elements. Although the output current ripple of the multi-phase converter is reduced significantly because of the interleaved effect, the inductor current ripple is not reduced in multi-phase converters. One of the solutions to this problem is to use a coupled inductor. A 4 kW prototype converter is built and tested to verify the performance of the proposed converter.

  • For conventional interleaved two-phase forward converters with a common output inductor, the maximum duty cycle is 0.5, which limits the voltage range and increases the difficulty of the transformer's optimization. A new two-phase hybrid forward converter with series-parallel auto-regulated transformer windings is presented in this paper. With interleaved control signals for the two phases, the secondary windings of the transformers can work in series when the duty cycle is larger than 0.5, and they can work in parallel when duty cycle is lower than 0.5. Therefore, the maximum duty cycle is extended and the turns ratio of the transformer can be optimized. Duty cycle dependent auto-regulated windings result in the steady states of the converter being different in different duty cycle ranges (D>0.5 and D<0.5). Fortunately, the steady state gains of the proposed hybrid converter are identical at different duty cycle ranges, which means a stepless shift between two states. A prototype is built to verify the theoretical analysis. A conventional control loop is compatible for the whole input voltage range and load range thanks to the stepless shifting between the different duty cycle ranges.

  • In high power application, PFC(Power Factor Correction) pre-regulators are generally required. PFC pre-regulators could achieve unity power factor, reduce line input current harmonics and utilize full line power. Interleaving PFC converters could reduce input ripple current, output capacitor ripple current and inductor size. With this closed loop interleaving method, both two phase converters are working at the boundary between continuous and discontinuous mode and accurate 180 degree phase shift is achieved. Implementation of this strategy could be easily integrated to the control chip. Finally, experimental results of a two-phase interleaved boost PFC are presented to verify the discussed features.

  • Inductor in high power converter system increases production cost, volume and core loss proportional to the power. To decrease these disadvantages, this paper analyzed the characteristic of parallel-inductor and coupled-inductor in interleaved system with simulation. As a result, it is confirmed that two-phase interleaved non-coupled buck-converter has the best characteristic among three types converter.
