PURPOSE. Impact forces in implant supported FDP (fixed dental prosthesis) are higher than that of tooth supported FDPs and the compositions used in frameworks also has a paramount role for biomechanical reasons. The aim of this study was to evaluate the flexural strength of two different zirconia frameworks. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Two implant abutments with 3.8 mm and 4.5 mm platform were used as premolar and molar. They were mounted vertically in an acrylic resin block. A model with steel retainers and removable abutments was fabricated by milling machine; and 10 FDP frameworks were fabricated for each Biodenta and Cercon systems. All samples were thermo-cycled for 2000 times in $5-55^{\circ}C$ temperature and embedded in $37^{\circ}C$ artificial saliva for one week. The flexural test was done by a rod with 2 mm ending diameter which was applied to the multi-electromechanical machine. The force was inserted until observing fracture. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS software ver.15, using Weibull modulus and independent t-test with the level of significance at ${\alpha}=.05$. RESULTS. The mean load bearing capacity values were higher in Biodenta but with no significant differences (P>.05). The Biodenta frameworks showed higher load bearing capacity ($F_0=1700$) than Cercon frameworks ($F_0=1520$) but the reliability (m) was higher in Cercon (m=7.5). CONCLUSION. There was no significant difference between flexural strengths of both zirconia based framework systems; and both Biodenta and Cercon systems are capable to withstand biting force (even parafunctions) in posterior implant-supported bridges with no significant differences.
Fire model shall be verified and validated to reliably predict the consequences of fires within its limitations. Generally the verification and validation procedures are conducted by comparison with experimental test data. This study aims to evaluate predictive capabilities of FDS in the pool fire with two rooms and the sensitivity between input parameters such as heat release rate and ventilation rate and the output values like temperature, concentration, and heat flux. The predictive capabilities of FDS will be evaluated by comparing FDS simulation results with PRISME experimental data which result from the international fire test project. The sensitivity analysis will be conducted to decide which one of input parameters affects outcomes by comparison of FDS results with ${\pm}$ 10% changes of input parameter. From this study, the FDS predictive capabilities are within 20% error range. Heat release rate as input parameter affects most of outcomes and flow rate only has relation with concentration of oxygen and combustion products.

A two-dimensional thermal response and ablation analysis code for predicting charring material ablation and shape change on solid rocket nozzle is presented. The thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) techniques have been used to characterize the thermal decomposition constants for Arrhenius parameters. Two heterogeneous reactions involving carbon and the oxidizing species of $H_2O$ and $CO_2$ are considered and determined by Zvyagin's ablation model and kinetic constants. The moving boundary problem and mesh moving are solved by remeshing-rezoning method in MSC-Marc-ATAS program. The difference between the calculated and experimental value of char and ablation thickness is up to 20%. For the performance prediction of thermal protection systems, this method will be integrated with a three-dimensional finite-element thermal and structure analysis code through the real time sensing of in-depth temperature and heat flux.

Recently, with the growth of software for electromagnetic-thermal analysis, it has been studied that the precise analysis and investigation for cause of the electrical fire using computer simulation is on the basis of theroy for electromagnetic-thermal analysis. But it is very lacking for the precise analysis and investigation of cause for the electrical fire. In this paper, we have simulated the temperature distribution of wire to current and the force between the two conductors according to the current and the distance of the vinyl flat-type electrical wire(600 V, VFF, $2C{\times}$1.25mm^2) using the finite element method(Flux2D) in a overcurrent. And we will present the cause analysis method of electrical fire by experiment for distance between the two conductors according to current and time using large current supply device(Model: EHT_EFAD, Korea) in a overcurrent.
The magnetic states of nonstoichiometric substituted ferrite Fe$_{}1.429$(Al$_{4-x}$ Ga$_{x}$)$_{0.286}$ Si$_{0.143}$ /O$_4$ system have been investigated using Mossbauer spectroscopy and SQUID. The Mossbauer spectra at room temperature show well-defined two Zeeman patterns for x=0.2, superpositions of two Zeeman patterns and a doublet for x=0.4. The doublet peak seems to be originated from the superparamagnetic clusters. The system shows significant departures from the Neel's collinear model and seems to be the diluted ferrites. The Mossbauer spectra below R.T show various and complicated patterns, which can be explained by freezing of the superparamagnetic clusters. On cooling, magnetic states of the system may be various and multicritical, Resulting from SQUID measurements, there was an unexpected dip in magnetization curves below 50K. It was interpreted as an effect of spin canting including spin freezing or collective spin behavior.

Numerical calculations are carried out for evaluating the natural convection induced by the temperature difference between a hot inner circular cylinder and a cold outer square enclosure. A two-dimensional solution for unsteady natural convection is obtained by using the finite volume method to model an inner circular cylinder that was designed by using the immersed boundary method (IBM) for a Rayleigh number of $10^7$. In this study, we investigate the effect of the location ($\delta$) of the inner cylinder, which is located along the vertical central axis of the outer enclosure, on the heat transfer and fluid flow. The natural convection changes from unsteady to steady state depending on the $\delta$. The two critical lower bound and upper bound positions are ${\delta}_{C,L}$ = 0.05 and ${\delta}_{C,U}$ = 0.18, respectively. Within these defined bounds, the thermal and flow fields are in steady state.

The tooth shapes of serration-type and spline-type reactors are optimized using finite element methods to improve the working life of the part and to lower the stress concentration during rotation resulting from contact with the outer race for a reactor operating with $170^{\circ}C$ transmission oil. The results of thermal expansion analyses between an Al reactor and the steel outer race indicate that, before optimization, the gap between the two parts increases further as the serration-type reactor expands by 0.1 mm and the spline-type one strains by 0.08 mm. Because of shape optimization, a trapezoidal shape is obtained from the initial triangular serration and the rectangular spline of the two reactors. The maximum von Mises stress of the serration-type convertor decreased by 24.5 %, and by 9.3 % for the spline-type convertor. In addition, there is a 13 % reduction in the axial thickness, as compared to the initially designed model.

The objective of this study was to suggest technical approaches for preparation and down scaling of climate data used for predicting the potential forest distribution. To predict the forest distribution, we employed a Korean-specific forest distribution model, so-called the TAG(Thermal Analogy Group), and defined the PFT(Plant Functional Types) based on the HyTAG(Hydrological and Thermal Analogy Group). The climate data with 20km spatial resolution were interpolated to fit on the input data format with 1km spatial resolution. Two potential forest distribution maps were estimated using climate data constructed by kriging, one of the interpolation and down-scaling approaches, with and without lapse rate considered. Through the verification process by comparing two potential maps with the actual vegetation map, the forest distribution using the lapse rate was proven to be 38% more accurate.

To assess the impact of climate change on water quality in an impounded river basin, this study estimated future air temperature and rainfall in the years of 2020, 2050 and 2080 by statistically downscaling the simulation results from two GCM models combined with two emission scenarios (A2 and B1). Both scenarios were selected from the Special Report on Emission Scenarios (SRES) suggested by IPCC. The A2 scenario represents an extreme condition whereas the B1 scenario represents a clean and energy efficient condition which is similar to that of study basin. With the results of estimated climate factors and land use data, the discharge and the concentrations of BOD, TN and TP in the Andong dam basins were simulated using the SWAT model. The change in BOD concentration for the B1 emission scenario was greater than the A2 scenario in the annual increase range and the pollution level. The concentration of TN was decreased during March? June which is drought period and increased again afterward. In contrast to TN, the concentration of TP was generally decreased. The change in TP concentration was greater for the B1 scenario than the A2 scenario.
We report preliminary results of long-slit near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy of Luminous Blue Variables (LBVs) with moderate resolution of R ~ 2400. We obtained Jshort (1.04-1.26 micron) and Ks (2.02-2.31 micron) band spectra of 4 LBVs and 3 LBV candidates in Southern hemisphere using IRIS2, infrared imager and spectrograph, mounted on the 4-m Anglo-Australian Telescope. All targets are fairly bright in NIR so that we can obtain high signal-to-noise ratio for clear line detection and modeling. They are also widely distributed in the HR diagram so that we can compare the spectral properties of LBVs in different temperature and luminosity ranges. Among them, we present the results of two well-known LBVs AG Car and HR Car. Their spectra show similar properties with hydrogen, He I, and metallic lines such as Fe II and Mg II, most of them in emission. We discuss, in particular, the He I 1.083 micron lines formed in stellar wind because these two LBVs show large variation in their He I line intensities, compared to previous studies. Since the He I 1.083 line is known to be anticorrelated with the photometric variation of LBVs, strong line intensities with P-Cygni profiles in both stars indicate that they are now near the visual minimum phase. We model the obtained spectra using non-LTE atmosphere code CMFGEN of Hillier (1998) to derive stellar parameters such as wind velocity and mass loss rate, and discuss the long-term variability of stellar parameters of these LBVs. deduced from our otometric solution.
