UBVRi photometry of Algol was carried out from December of 1988 to March of 1991 at Chungbuk National University Observatory and a total of 3465 observations in U, B, V, R, I were obtained. Three times of primary minimum light of JDH el 2447898.0938, JEH el 2448265.1205 and JDH el 2448288.0598, and two secondary minimum light of JDH el 2447808.1014 and JDH el 2448275.146 were determined from our observations. We analyzed simultaneously the UBVRI light curves of the Algol system with the Wilson-Devinney method for the determination of the photometric parameters. Indivisual masses for the 3 components of Algol are derived as $m_1$=3.36, $m_2$=0.76, $m_3$=1.6 in solar mass and radii as $R_1$=2.97, $R_2$=0.76 in solar radinus using i=$82.{\circ}47$, q=0.227, $r_1$=0.2102, $r_2$=0.2512 of our solution and some parameters of the spectroscopic solution of Hill et al. (1971). Our results is simiar to those reported by Kim (1989). The temperature of Algol C, $T_3$=8800 was obtained by means of fitting $l_1$, $l_2$, and $l_3$ of five colors to Planckian curve, and $R_3$=$1.6R_\odot$ is derived from its result. It is believed that its semidetached configuration of Algol A and B is the consequence of case B mass transfer. According to its location in a mass-radius diagram. Algol b may have evolved significantly in its Hburnning phase.

Objectives: This study used semiology based on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to investigate vital energy (Qi) behavior in women with abdominal myofascial pain syndrome (AMPS). Methods: Fifty women diagnosed with chronic pelvic pain (CPP) secondary to AMPS were evaluated by using a questionnaire based on the theories of "yin-yang," "zang-fu", and "five elements". We assessed the following aspects of the illness: symptomatology; specific location of myofascial trigger points (MTrPs); onset, cause, duration and frequency of symptoms; and patient and family history. The patients tongues, lips, skin colors, and tones of speech were examined. Patients were questioned on various aspects related to breathing, sweating, sleep quality, emotions, and preferences related to color, food, flavors, and weather or seasons. Thirst, gastrointestinal dysfunction, excreta (feces and urine), menstrual cycle, the five senses, and characteristic pain symptoms related to headache, musculoskeletal pain, abdomen, and chest were also investigated. Results: Patients were between 22 and 56 years old, and most were married (78%), possessed a elementary school (66%), and had one or two children (76%). The mean body mass index and body fat were 26.86 kg/cm2 (range: 17.7 - 39.0) and 32.4% (range: 10.7 - 45.7), respectively. A large majority of women (96%) exhibited alterations in the kidney meridian, and 98% had an altered gallbladder meridian. We observed major changes in the kidney and the gallbladder Qi meridians in 76% and 62% of patients, respectively. Five of the twelve meridians analyzed exhibited Qi patterns similar to pelvic innervation Qi and meridians, indicating that the paths of some of these meridians were directly related to innervation of the pelvic floor and abdominal region. Conclusion: The women in this study showed changes in the behavior of the energy meridians, and the paths of some of the meridians were directly related to innervation of the pelvic floor and abdominal region.
The nutritional status is important for the physical and mental development of children. Children should have sufficient nutrient intake, specially for the developmentally disabled children. In spite of the importance not much research has been done for their food habit and nutritional status. In this study, nutritional status of the disabled children were examined, the number of children studied is 50 children in Seoul between 5 to 6 years old, of whom 11 were austism, 5 were mentally retarded children and 8 were down\\`s syndrome. In order to get the data questionnaires about the food habit and other related factors, and two days food records were used. Their mean height was 108.8$\pm$21.0cm and their average weight was 19.5$\pm$4.6kg. The proportion of study subject with problems of the food habits was 36%, without keeping the regular meal time was 16%, and having snacks 2-4 time daily was 56%. They chose confectionery and fruits as their favorite snacks. The proportion of study subject with the sensitivity to the food colors and smells when they ate was 54%, unskilled using spoon and fork was 58%, and having medications was 20%. When we asked them whether their parents used the food as compensation means or not, 32% of them said that they did it often or sometimes. For the nutrient intake, energy was 1,703 $\pm$ 511kcal, carbohydrate was 242.5 $\pm$ 69.3g, protein was 61.3 $\pm$ 17.5g, lipid was 50.0 $\pm$ 24.4g. As the nutrient intake, it was compared with RDA. The intake of vitamin A and calcium were below RDA. Intake of protein was more than 150% of RDA. The proportion of subject with more than 125% of RDA was 72% for the phosphorus, 62% for the protein, 60% for the Vitamin A and calcium were below 0.75 and that of the others was above 0.75. The mean adequacy ratio(MAR) was 0.88. As we sum up the results of the research, the developmentally disabled children were shorter and lighter than the reference, were having medications, had excessive appetites, and had unbalanced diets. Also they had the bad food habit. As for the nutritional intake, vitamin A and calcium intake were a little less than RDA, and protein and phosphorus intake were too much. With the results of the above research for the disabled children, we can conclude that there are need to take some necessary measures for those children. This paper describes a new face detection method that is a pre-processing algorithm for on-line face recognition. To complement the weakness of using only edge or rotor features from previous face detection method, we propose the two types of face detection method. The one is a combined method with edge and color features and the other is a center area color sampling method. To prevent connecting the people's face area and the background area, which have same colors, we propose a new adaptive edge detection algorithm firstly. The adaptive edge detection algorithm is robust to illumination variance so that it extracts lots of edges and breakouts edges steadily in border between background and face areas. Because of strong edge detection, face area appears one or multi regions. We can merge these isolated regions using color information and get the final face area as a MBR (Minimum Bounding Rectangle) form. If the size of final face area is under or upper threshold, color sampling method in center area from input image is used to detect new face area. To evaluate the proposed method, we have experimented with 2,100 face images. A high face detection rate of 96.3% has been obtained.

One argument of this study is that the policy to handle and landscape of cultural and historical property had to do with people's visual preferences. This study seeks to investigate people's visual preferences toward the landscape of cultural /historical property, specifically dealing with 'Namdaemun', which is the first class cultural property of Korea. People's visual preference was specifically examined into the four specific concepts : 'visual identity','harmony','beauty of the target property', and 'overall beauty'. Two objective variables, such as, 'distance' between the viewer and the cultural property, and 'height' of background buildings were considered possible predictors of the four visual preference variables. Photos of 'Namdaemun' were taken at three different directions and at three different distances. The photographed images of 'Namdaemun' were transferred ito the digitalized graphic images, where the height of background buildings was artificially changed and simulated. The simulated visual images were taken into the slides again. A total of 59 students of the Department of Landscape architecture at Seoul City University were sampled as subjects. A series of 17 slides were shown to the subjects four times. The subjects were asked to check their preference ratings concerning the four concepts on a 7-point Likert scale. The results found in this study were as follows : 1) In the results of ANOVA, it was clear that people visually preferred the view where the height of background buildings were lower than 15 floors to the view of more than 15 floors . 2) From the results of the path analysis, it was found that 'harmony','visual identity' and 'beauty of the target property' were direct predictors of 'the overall beauty'. The 'height ' of background buildings and the viewer's 'distance' were not found to be direct predictors, however, they demonstrated their effects on 'the overall beauty' through the other variable, which were direct predictors of 'the overall beauty'. In sum, the longer the distance and the higher the background buildings, the lower people's preference with the 'overall beauty'. These indirect paths, in turn, also explain why and how the 'height' of background buildings and the viewer's 'distance' negatively influence the 'overall beauty'. An implication from the these results is that when the height of background buildings were not controllable, there would be some other strategies for improving people's visual preference toward the historical /cultural view. To increase 'visual identity' of the cultural property, for example, changing colors of the cultural property or increasing the lighting level, etc., would be one strategy, since the increased 'visual identity' will, in turn, increase 'the overall beauty'.

Mosaic is to make a big image by gathering lots of small materials having various colors. With advance of digital imaging techniques, photomosaic techniques using photos are widely used. In this paper, we presents an automatic photomosaic algorithm based on adaptive tiling and block matching. The proposed algorithm is composed of two processes: photo database generation and photomosaic generation. Photo database is a set of photos (or tiles) used for mosaic, where a tile is divided into $4{\times}4$ regions and the average RGB value of each region is the feature of the tile. Photomosaic generation is composed of 4 steps: feature extraction, adaptive tiling, block matching, and intensity adjustment. In feature extraction, the feature of each block is calculated after the image is splitted into the preset size of blocks. In adaptive tiling, the blocks having similar similarities are merged. Then, the blocks are compared with tiles in photo database by comparing euclidean distance as a similarity measure in block matching. Finally, in intensity adjustment, the intensity of the matched tile is replaced as that of the block to increase the similarity between the tile and the block. Also, a tile redundancy minimization scheme of adjacent blocks is applied to enhance the quality of mosaic photos. In comparison with Andrea mosaic software, the proposed algorithm outperforms in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Interspecific fusion products were obtained by protoplast fusion induced by polyethylene glycol, from auxotrophic mutants, Pleurotus cornucopiae and P. florida. The fusants were classified into allodiploidy, stable heterokaryon, and spontaneously segregated heterokaryons. Fruiting body of the clamped or clampless fusants was produced by light-dark cycle on the sawdust medium in glass bottles. Most of these clampless fusants produced mature basidiocarps. The pilei showed various mixed colors resembling the parents. All fruit bodies presented clamp connections except two fusants. When small tissues of stipe from basidiocarps were cultured on a complete medium, mycelial colonies grew more vigorously than that of the original clampless fusants. Five fusants in three crosses were analysed with the distribution of progenies and segregation of genetic characters by random spore analyses. The genetic markers were shown to segregate and recombine in the first generation of monospores isolated from basidiocarps. The analysis indicated the heter-okar-yosis and strong evidence for haploidy of vegetative nuclei, a sexual cycle consisting of nuclear fusion and meiosis. Genotypes of a large number of auxotiophic progenies were not detected. The aberration ratio of segregants indicated the gene interaction resulting from different genome structure between vegetatively incompatible species.

SIFT(Scale Invariant Feature Transform) is an algorithm to extract vectors at pixels around keypoints, in which the pixel colors are very different from neighbors, such as vortices and edges of an object. The SIFT algorithm is being actively researched for various image processing applications including 3-D image constructions, and its most computation-intensive stage is a keypoint localization. In this paper, we develope a fixed-point model of the keypoint localization and propose its efficient hardware architecture for embedded applications. The bit-length of key variables are determined based on two performance measures: localization accuracy and error rate. Comparing with the original algorithm (implemented in Matlab), the accuracy and error rate of the proposed fixed point model are 93.57% and 2.72% respectively. In addition, we found that most of missing keypoints appeared at the edges of an object which are not very important in the case of keypoints matching. We estimate that the hardware implementation will give processing speed of $10{\sim}15\;frame/sec$, while its fixed point implementation on Pentium Core2Duo (2.13 GHz) and ARM9 (400 MHz) takes 10 seconds and one hour each to process a frame.

Statement of problem: The color change of final restoration resulting from resin cement is variable since the amount of the tooth is prepared is minimum. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the color accuracy of try-in paste and their corresponding resin cements and the color stability of restoration intermediated resin cement according to two shades of three products(Rely-X. Variolink II. Choice). Material and method: Color was measured for porcelain disk sample without try-in paste, and porcelain disk sample intermediated by try-in paste and resin cement, then color differences were calculated. Results : 1. Color difference(${\Delta}E^*$) between try-in paste and resin cement showed the lowest value at Variolink II and increased in the order Choice and Rely-X statistically significant, and $?E^*$ of three resin cements was greater in A3 then A1. 2. The values of ${\Delta}L^*$ and ${\Delta}a^*$ between try-in paste and resin cement was in the increasing order of Variolink II, Choice and Rely-X. The ${\Delta}b^*$ value was increased in this order Choice, Rely-X and Variolink II in A1 on the other hand Variolink II, Rely-X and Choice in A3. 3. Color difference(${\Delta}E^*$) before and after resin cement showed the lowest value at Variolink II and increased in the order Rely-X and Choice. Conclusion : Above result revealed that the colors of try-in paste and resin cement were more or less accurate in the range of 0.35-1.95 of color difference which was unnoticeable with human eye, and Variolink II was superior to the other resin cements in color accuracy.

This study was performed to examine the quality characteristics of the curd yogurt with different contents (0.5$\sim$2.0% (w/v)) of cherry powder (obtained from freeze-dried fruit of Prunus serrulata L. var. spontanea Max. wils.). Yogurt was fermented with two kinds of lactic acid bacteria (Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus bulgalicus) at $40^{\circ}C$ for 18h. During the period of 14 days of storage ($4^{\circ}C$, 14 days), acid production (pH and titratable acidity) of the yogurts increased significantly with the addition of cherry powder. The sugar content of the yogurts prepared with cherry powder increased but cherry powder yogurts presented lower viscosity values than the control. Hunter color values, lightness (L) and yellowness (b) of yogurt colors decreased as the concentration of cherry powder increased, whereas the redness (a) increased. Lactic acid bacteria of yogurts increased with the addition of cherry powder and all samples had increasing levels of lactic bacteria over the storage period. The sensory properties, such as flavor, taste, viscosity, and overall acceptability, of the yogurts containing the 1.0% cherry powder were superior to the control sample. Consequently, the optimal quality achieved in these experiments was yogurt with 1.0% cherry powder added.
