Purpose: The purpose of this study aims to provide a fundamental basis for more efficient human resource management of hospitals through career development and through lowering the rate of turnover of nurses. Method: The target group was 370 nurses who are currently employed at four general hospitals. Three hundred and twenty-nine documents were collected, and the statistical results were generated by the SAS program. Result: The average mean score of organizational commitment, career commitment and turnover intention were: 3.13 points for affective commitment, 3.09 points for continuance commitment and 2.92 points for normative commitment, out of a five point scale. The average mean score of career commitment and turnover intention was 2.89 and 3.28 points. The most influential variable in turnover intention was affective commitment out of organizational commitment. Conclusions: This study verified that organizational commitment and career commitment are key variables that could decrease turnover intentions.
Purpose: This study was done to examine the relationships among practice environment, nursing professionalism, career commitment, and turnover intention in nurses working in small-medium sized hospitals. Method: This study utilized a descriptive correlational design. Data were collected using structured questionnaires from 362 nurses in 7 small-medium sized hospitals and analyzed with SPSS 18.0. Result: The mean scores for practice environment, nursing professionalism, career commitment, and turnover intention were 2.29 on a 4-point scale and 3.13, 2.78, 3.51 on a 5-point scale, respectively. The practice environment showed significantly positive correlations with nursing professionalism and career commitment. Nursing professionalism showed a significantly positive correlation with career commitment. The highest significant negative correlation was between practice environment and turnover intention. Nursing professionalism and career commitment had negative correlations with turnover intention. Factors having significant influence on turnover intention included age, assigned ward, average wage, practice environment, and career commitment. These factors explained 43.0% of variance in turnover intention. Practice environment was identified as the most important variable in explaining turnover intention. Conclusions: The results of this study demonstrate the necessity of improving the practice environment and increasing nurses' career commitment if turnover intention in small-medium sized hospitals is to be lowered.
Purpose: This study was performed to measure nurses' perception of reward, organizational commitment, turnover intention, and to examine the effect of the first two variables on turnover intention. Methods: This study was cross-sectional survey. Data were collected from 400 nurses working at 8 general hospitals in 6 cities from May 28 to July 18, 2008. Result: Nurses perceived that reward was 'important', and organizational commitment and turnover intention were 'middle'. Being under 30 years old the unmarried staff nurses' organizational commitment was significantly low in statistics and their turnover intention was high. The only financial reward had a positive relationship with turnover intention, and organizational commitment had a negative relationship. The influence variables on turnover intention were affective commitment, period of expected work, financial reward, age, normative commitment, and the explanation power of them was 57.2%. Conclusion: It is concluded that the manager working at a small-middle sized general hospitals in Korean provinces should develop and apply the strategies that can improve nurses' organizational commitment. And they also have to make their organizational reward system keep appropriately.
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of job embeddedness on job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention in the food and beverage division of hotels. In addition, this study sought to identify the effects of job satisfaction and organizational commitment on turnover intention. Based on the literature reviews, five hypotheses were tested: job embeddedness was positively related to job satisfaction and organizational commitment and negatively related to turnover intention and job satisfaction and organizational commitment were negatively related to turnover intention. The subjects evaluated in this study were employees of the food and beverage division of five or four stars hotels in Seoul. Five hundred questionnaires were distributed and 293 were collected from July 1, 2009 to August 31, 2009, using convenience sampling method. After removing useless questionnaires, a total of 250 questionnaires (five-stars hotel 177, four-stars hotel 73) were analyzed using the factor analysis, a reliability test, and structural equation modeling analysis. The results revealed that job embeddedness was positively related to job satisfaction (t=8.762), organizational commitment (t=5.364) and negatively related to turnover intention (t=-3.500). Therefore, hypothesis I, II and III were accepted. However, job satisfaction (t=-.933) and organizational commitment (t=-1.923) were not negatively related to turnover intention. Therefore, hypothesis IV and V were rejected.
The purposes of this study were (1) to describe the effects of transformational leadership and transactional leadership on the hospital member's organizational commitment and turnover intention, (2) to provide with fundamental data in enhancing organizational effectiveness. For this purpose, the types of leadership, organizational commitment and turnover intention were evaluated among hospital members. A survey was conducted with 827 respondents working in a general hospital in Sungnam-shi. For the data analysis SPSS 10.0 was utilized. To verify the reliability and validity of variables, Chronbach's ${\alpha}$ and confirmatory factor analysis were processed. After descriptive analysis, regression analysis was conducted. In these progresses all the statistical significant levels were set at ${\alpha}$= 0.05. Results of the study can be summarized as follows. First, the types of leadership had differences in the level of organizational commitment and turnover intention of the hospital members and then transformational leadership had a more influence than did transactional leadership. Second, there were significant correlations for organizational commitment and turnover intention with overall characteristics of leadership(p<.05). Third, the factor influencing hospital member's organizational commitment and turnover intention were transformational leadership(p<.001). Total explanatory powers($R^2$) were 20.2% (organizational commitment) and 12.1%(turnover intention). Multiple regression analysis demonstrated that organizational commitment significantly high when transformational leadership was higher and it also showed turnover intention was significantly lower. In conclusion, the results of this study show that the leadership influence hospital member's organizational commitment and turnover intention and they are different the types of leadership. This results suggest that in order to be as successful leaders in hospital, the leaders should know their employee's behaviors and change their leadership styles.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to identify relationships between turnover intention and variable factors among dental hygienists. The results of the regression analysis were that self-efficacy is as high as job satisfaction. Independent variables based on self-efficacy and job satisfaction. The dependent variable is organizational commitment multiple regression analysis was used. The results showed that self-efficacy and job satisfaction are as high as organizational commitment. Independent variables based on organizational commitment. The dependent variable is the turnover-intention. Simple regression analysis showed that organizational commitment is as low as turnover-intention. Self-efficacy, job satisfaction and organizational commitment are different depending on individual traits and personal characteristics. Self-efficacy has been shown to have a positive relationship with job experiences, public work and turnover intention. Organizational commitment is also related with job experiences. However, there was no significant difference between job satisfaction, turnover intention and personal characteristics. Conclusions : According to the factor analysis of turnover intention, self-efficacy, job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention were correlated to each other. Self-efficacy, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment has a negative association with turnover intention.
The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between perceived organizational justice(distributive, procedural, interactional), job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and turnover intention information technology firm. I made the theoretical proposed model to explain these relationships between the constructs, identify the operational definitions and 5 hypotheses(6 sub-hypotheses) was established. The research came to the conclusions as follows: First, perceived justice had the positive effect to the job satisfaction and organizational commitment empirically. Second, I found the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational commitment was positive. Third, job satisfaction had not the positive effect directly, but indirect effect via organizational commitment was identified in turnover intention by empirical test. Finally, perceived organizational justice, job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and turnover intention was significantly related and to decrease the turnover intention, varieties of methods and ways would be developed that raise the perceived organizational justice, job satisfaction, organizational commitment.
The purpose of this research was to examine the construct known as job fit perceived by service employees in the foodservice industry. The model was tested using SPSS 12.0 and AMOS 4.0 based on the sample of 667 persons that showed a 95% usable response rate. The results of the empirical analysis showed as follows. First, in restaurants, the employees' job suitability factor brings about an indirect effect by organizational commitment and turnover intention. Second, employees' job satisfaction factor causes an indirect effect by organizational commitment. Third, employees' organizational commitment factor has relationships with turnover intention. That is, the higher organizational commitment, the lower turnover intention. By the same route analysis, job suitability has an effect on organizational commitment. Also, the research proved organizational immersion has an effect on turnover intention. In this respect, the research contributes to job performance of foodservice employees, emphasizing the necessity of educational programs for them.
