움직임 추정 및 머신 러닝 기반 풍력 발전기 모니터링 시스템 (Motion Estimation and Machine Learning-based Wind Turbine Monitoring System)

  • We propose a novel monitoring system for diagnosing crack faults of the wind turbine using image information. The proposed method classifies a normal state and a abnormal state for the blade parts of the wind turbine. Specifically, the images are input to the proposed system in various states of wind turbine rotation. according to the blade condition. Then, the video of rotating blades on the wind turbine is divided into several image frames. Motion vectors are estimated using the previous and current images using the motion estimation, and the change of the motion vectors is analyzed according to the blade state. Finally, we determine the final blade state using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier. In SVM, features are constructed using the area information of the blades and the motion vector values. The experimental results showed that the proposed method had high classification performance and its $F_1$ score was 0.9790.

  • 풍력터빈이 점차 대형화 되면서 로터 직경도 점차 커지고 있다. 로터 블레이드는 윈드시어와 타워교란 효과로부터 기계적 하중을 받게 된다. 이러한 기계적 하중은 풍력터빈의 수명을 단축시킨다. 따라서, 풍력터빈의 크기가 커짐에 따라 기계적 하중 완화를 위한 풍력터빈 제어 시스템 설계가 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 로터 블레이드의 기계적 하중 저감을 위한 개별 피치 제어에 대해 소개하고 IPC 성능 검증을 위해 시뮬레이션을 통하여 논의한다.

Design, Fabrication, and Testing of a MEMS Microturbine

  • This paper describes the design, fabrication, and testing of a microturbine developed at Seoul National University. Here, the term 'microturbine' refers to a radial turbine with a diameter on the order of a centimeter. Such devices can be used to transmit power for various systems. The turbine is designed using a commercial CFD code, and it has a design flow coefficient of 0.238 and work coefficient of 0.542. It has 31 stator blades and 24 rotor blades. A hydrodynamic journal bearing and hydrostatic thrust bearings counteract radial and axial forces on the rotor. The test turbine consists of a stack of five wafers and is fabricated by MEMS technology, using photolithography, DRIE, and bonding processes. The first, second, fourth, and fifth layers contain plumbing, and hydrostatic axial thrust bearings for the turbine. The third wafer contains the turbine's stator, rotor, and hydrodynamic journal bearings. Furthermore, a turbine test facility containing a flow control system and instrumentation has been designed and constructed. In performance tests, a maximum rotation speed of 11,400 rpm and flow rate of 16,000 sccm have been achieved.

초음파탐상 검사를 이용한 증기터빈 블레이드 루트 휭거 균열 탐지기법 개발 (Development of Crack Detecting Method at Steam Turbine Blade Root Finger using Ultrasonic Test)

  • The reliability of blade root fixing section is required to endure the centrifugal force and vibration stress for the last stage blade of steam turbine in thermal power plant. Most of the domestic steam turbine last stage blades have finger type roots. The finger type blade is very complex, so the inspection had been performed only on the exposed fixing pin cross-section area due to the difficulty of inspection. But the centrifugal force and vibration stress are also applied at the blade root finger and the crack generates, so the inspection method for finger section is necessary. For the inspection of root finger, inspection points were decided by simulating ultra-sonic path with 3D modeling, curve-shape probe and fixing jig were invented, and the characteristics analysis method of ultrasonic reflection signal and defect signal disposition method were invented. This invented method was actually executed at site and prevented the blade liberation failure by detecting the cracks at the fingers. Also, the same type blades of the other turbines were inspected periodically and the reliability of the turbine increased.

블레이드 형태에 따른 소형 수직축 풍력발전기의 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study of Small Vertical Axis Wind Turbine according to Type of Blades)

  • 풍력은 자원이 풍부하고, 끊임없이 재생되며, 공해물질 배출이 없어서 친환경적인 점에서 화석에너지 고갈 시에 대비한 유망한 대체 에너지원으로서 각광받는 에너지이다. 풍력발전기는 회전축의 방향에 따라 수평축 풍력발전기와 수직축 풍력발전기로 구분되며, 수직축은 발전효율이 낮은 단점이 있는 반면에 바람의 방향에 영향을 받지 않아 요잉 시스템이 필요가 없어 구조가 간단하고, 저 풍속에서도 풍력발전이 가능한 장점이 있어 현재 소형 수직축 풍력발전기가 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 저 풍속에서도 발전 가능한 자이로밀형, 힌지형, 양문형의 블레이드 형태에 따른 소형 수직형 풍력발전기를 이용하여 1m/s~11m/s의 가변풍속에 따른 발전기의 출력전압 및 출력전류를 분석하였다. 연구결과 최대풍속 11m/s일 때 발전기 출력전압은 양문형 블레이드를 적용 시 자이로밀형 블레이드보다 67%, 힌지형 블레이드보다 9%가 증가되었으며, 발전기 출력전류는 양문형 블레이드를 적용 시 자이로밀형 블레이드보다 93%, 힌지형 블레이드보다 5%가 증가되었다. 본 연구를 통해 저풍속 및 고풍속에서의 발전이 용이한 양문형 블레이드의 우수한 출력특성과 실용화 가능성을 확인하였다.

Resonance and Instability of Blade-Shaft Coupled Bending Vibrations with In-plane Blade Vibration

  • As a major component of a power plant, a turbine generator must have sufficient reliability. Longer blades have lower natural frequency, thereby requiring that the design of the shaft and blade takes into account the coupling of the blade vibration mode, nodal diameter k=0 and k=1 with vibration of the shaft. The present work analyzes the coupling of the translation motion of the shaft with in-plane vibration of the blades with k=1 modes. At a rotational speed ${\Omega}_1=|{\omega}_s-{\omega}_b|$, the resonance of the blades has a relatively large amplitude. A violent coupled resonance was observed at a rotational speed ${\Omega}_2=|{\omega}_s+{\omega}_b|$. Resonance in blade vibration at ${\Omega}_1=|{\omega}_s-{\omega}_b|$ was experimentally confirmed.

로터 블레이드 결빙에 의한 타워 피로하중 평가 (Evalulation of the Tower Fatigue Loads by Ice Formation on Rotor Blades)

  • Primarily, tower loads of a wind turbine arise from aerodynamic effect and a top head mass. But sometime asymmetric loads of rotor also affect on the tower loads. Especially ice formation on two blades out of three causes the asymmetric loads, because the ice formation on blades lead to large rotating mass imbalance. This rotating mass imbalance of rotor affects tower fatigue loads. So design load cases of ice formation on blade should be considered in the fatigue design loads of the tower according to GL guideline 2010. This paper describes the change of tower fatigue loads following increase of tower height in the condition of ice formation. Finally, the optimal operation strategy is examined in order to reduce tower fatigue design loads.

  • According to recent figures, 35% of the world's blades are made using prepreg blades, by Vestas and Gamesa. They are the most advanced in the market today. In this study, we investigated the validity of the finite element method (FEM) applied to an FE analysis of a hybrid composite wind-turbine blade. Two methods were suggested for a composite FE analysis: using the equivalent properties of the composite or using stacking properties. FE analysis results using the stacking properties of the composite were in good agreement with results of using the equivalent properties. The difference between FE results was approximately 0.6~13.3%.

10 kW급 수평축 풍력 터빈 로터 블레이드의 공력 설계 (Aerodynamic Design of 10 kW-level HAWT Rotor Blades)

  • 10 kW급 수평축 풍력 터빈의 로터를 개발하기 위해 블레이드의 공력 설계 절차를 체계적으로 연구하고 실행하였다. 운동량 이론과 깃 요소법에 근거한 역 설계 방법을 확립하고, 이를 이용하여 주어진 공력 분포에 따른 근사 최적 형상을 설계하였다. 설계된 형상은 공군사관학교의 풍동에서 검증되었고, 본 설계를 통하여 실제로 제작된 로터로부터 실측 데이터를 취득하여 비교하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 저자들은 풍력 터빈 블레이드의 설계 방법에 대한 체계적 기술을 축적하고, 나아가 같은 방법을 중대형 시스템으로 확장하기 위한 기술적 노하우를 취득하였다.

  • The vertical-axis tidal current turbine (VAT) consisting of blades, struts to support blades, shaft, generator and so forth requires anti-resonance design against fluid fluctuation forces generated on blades to ensure its stable operation. In this study, a free vibration analysis program based on the finite element method is developed for efficient anti-resonance design of VAT in the preliminary design stage. In the finite element modeling, the VAT structure components are regarded as beam elements. Added masses due to the fluid and structure interaction of VAT evaluated by empirical formulas are considered as lumped mass elements. In addition, input parameters required for the analysis can be automatically prepared from the principal dimensions of VAT to make anti-resonance design more convenient. The validity of applied methods is verified by the comparison of the numerical results obtained from MSC/Nastran and the developed program for two VAT models.
