A Study on the Control of the Length of Carbon-Nano-Tube Probe (탄소나노튜브 프로브의 길이 제어에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we proposed a new method to control the length of carbon nano tube in the single CNT probe. A single CNT probe was composed of a tungsten tip made by the electrochemical etching and carbon nano tube which was grown by CVD and prepared through the sonication. The two components were attached with the carbon tape. Since the length of CNT can not be controlled during the manufacturing, the post process is needed to shorten the CNT. In this paper, we proposed the method of electrochemical process. The process was done under the optical microscope and the results were checked by SEM. The diameter of the carbon nano tube used in this paper was about 130nm because the above process had to be done with the optical microscope. Using the method proposed in this paper, we can control the length of the nano tube tip.

An Analytical Study on the Improvement of the Performance of Swivel Valve Tube Couplers (스위벨 밸브 튜브 커플러 개발을 위한 해석 연구)

  • This study focused on the localization of swivel type tube couplers, which all depend on imports. In this study, a computer application analysis was performed using a finite element method as a preliminary study. In the major developments related to the objective of this study, the air brake system produced by car makers represents a different in the installation point of an air tank according to the type of cars or in the length and direction of its hoses and that leads to cause lots of problems. For solving such problems, the design of the major elements in a swivel type tube coupler was analyzed using a finite element method, and its validity was also verified. In the process that verifies the validity of this study, it was necessary to investigate how much external force affects the desorption of the tube support, which is the most important element in swivel type tube couplers. For achieving the investigation, a pressure test was implemented for the tube support according to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards(FMVSS). In the results of the pressure test, all samples satisfied the FMVSS. In addition, several tests were implemented by installing the sample of the developed swivel type tube coupler to an actual vehicle. In particular, rotation tests with various angles were applied by welding the swivel type coupler to an air tank through an argon welding process. In the results of the installing test for an actual vehicle, it was verified that the designed structure was determined as a structure that is able to endure the eccentric torque and deformation pressure applied to several directions that are the major problems in such fixed type tube couplers. Therefore, in the comparison of the performance of the developed product with the product of PARKER, it was possible to verify that the localized swivel type tube coupler developed in this study shows more excellent than that of the existing products by PARKER.

A Study on Nutritional Status and Clinical Practice of Neurosurgical Tube-fed Patients (신경외과에 입원한 경관급식 환자의 영양지원 실태와 영양상태에 관한 연구)

  • This study was performed to investigate the nutritional status of neurosurgical tube-fed patients. The objective of this study was to improve the nutrition management of tube-fed patients. The current practices of tube feeding and enteral nutrition formula as for 95 patients in the hospital were examined by reviewing patients charts, and interviewing patients, nurses and their family members. The results are summarized as follows ; 57.9% of patients that received the formula showed a decrease in mental status. Among the subjects, 55.7% had nervous system diseases due to old age. Most of the tube-fed patients were hospitalized in the emergency room and while hospitalized, the status of their respiratory organ was abnormal. The method of tube-feeding was by Bolus injection and the type of the tube was a 16Fr size silicone tube. The amount of the injection per day while tube-feeding was on average 1424kcal for men and 1322kcal for women and the calories per day ranged from 1000-1500kcal(50.5%). The injection volume averaged 332.7ml and 45% of patients received more than 300ml per injection. The tube feeding intake rate was 127.9ml/min with 50% of subjects in the range of 50-100ml/min and 10% at 20ml/min. The longer the hospitalization, the older age, coma status, and the higher tube feeding rate, the more decreased were the biochemical parameters.

  • A new impedance tube method is presented for the measurement of transmission loss of sound isolation sheets. The two-microphone method based on the sound decomposition theory proposed by Seybert and Ross is reviewed in this impedance tube method, which has been used for the determination of absorption coefficient of absorptive materials as well as transmission loss of automotive mufflers. Sound transmission losses for rubber, polyvinyl and asphalt sheets are measured in an impedance tube and reverberation room facility, respectively. By comparing two measurement methods, the reliability of impedance tube method used in this study is validated. From the experimental results, it is shown that the accuracy of sound isolation capability obtained by the impedance tube method depends upon the microphone spacing and the distance of the first microphone from the test sample surface.

  • High-finned tubes have good thermal conductivity and have better cooling efficiency than plain tubes or low-fined tubes due to bigger air contact area. During high-fined tubes are manufactured by roll forming, the main technique is illustrated to optimizing primary material(copper pipe), optimized die matrix designing technique for roll forming, control manufacturing speed to develop productivity etc. In this study, a roll forming system was developed in oder to produce high-finned tube. Also a multi-step roll forming die was designed & built to produce high-finned tube that has over 10 mm fin height. And then, roll forming test using copper pipe was performed to produce high-finned tube. Roll forming process for producing highfinned tube was optimized by analyzing and adjusting misrostructure, hardness, and surface roughness of roll formed high-fined tube.

Custom-Made T-Tube Designed by 3-D Reconstruction Technique, a Preliminary Study (삼차원 재건 기술을 이용한 맞춤형 몽고메리 T-Tube의 제작에 관한 예비 연구)

  • Background: Montgomery T-tube is widely used to maintain airway in many cases. Market-available tubes are not always fit to the trachea of each patient and need some modification such as trimming. Complications do happen in prolonged use like tracheostomy tubes. To overcome above limitations, we designed custom-made T-tube using CT data with the aid of 3D reconstruction software. Material and Method: Boundaries were extracted from neck CT data of normal person and processed by surface rendering methods. Real laryngotracheal model and tracheal inner surface-mimicking tube model were made with plaster and rubber. The main tube was designed by accumulation of circles or simple closed curves made from boundaries. Stomal tube was made by accumulation of squares due to limitation of software. Measurement data of tracheal lumen were used to custom-made T-tubes. Tracheal lumen residing portion (vertical limb) was made like circular cylinder or simple closed curved cylinder. Stomal portion (horizontal limb) was designed like square cylinder. Results: Custom made T-tube with cylindric vertical limb and horizontal limb of square cylinder was designed. Conclusion: CT data was helpful in making custom made T-tube with 3D reconstruction technique. If suitable materials are available, commercial T-tube can be printed out from 3D printers.

  • The expanding method of tube to tubesheet joint part on neclear steam generators are classified into three classes of roller expanding, explosive expanding and hydraulic expanding. After the expanded Mock-Up specimen are made by the three expanding method. The general properties, microstructure/microvickers hardness, pull-out strength, hydraulic leak pressure, of tube to tubesheet joint part were inspected. and We evaluated the operation efficiency of expansion, reproduction of expanded joint about three expanding method. Through the overall evaluation of tube to tubesheet joint part, The hydraukic expanding and explosive expanding could be certificated more useful expanding method.

Distributed parameters modeling for the dynamic stiffness of a spring tube in servo valves

  • The stability and dynamic performance of a flapper-nozzle servo valve depend on several factors, such as the motion of the armature component and the deformation of the spring tube. As the only connection between the armature component and the fixed end, the spring tube plays a decisive role in the dynamic response of the entire system. Aiming at predicting the vibration characteristics of the servo valves to combine them with the control algorithm, an innovative dynamic stiffness based on a distributed parameter model (DPM) is proposed that can reflect the dynamic deformation of the spring tube and a suitable discrete method is applied according to the working condition of the spring tube. With the motion equation derived by DPM, which includes the impact of inertia, damping, and stiffness force, the mathematical model of the spring tube dynamic stiffness is established. Subsequently, a suitable program for this model is confirmed that guarantees the simulation accuracy while controlling the time consumption. Ultimately, the transient response of the spring tube is also evaluated by a finite element method (FEM). The agreement between the simulation results of the two methods shows that dynamic stiffness based on DPM is suitable for predicting the transient response of the spring tube.

Thermal and Flow Analysis of the Flat Tube with Micro-Channels (미세유로를 갖는 납작관의 열·유동 해석)

  • In this study, the general thermal and flow characteristics of flat tube with micro-channels has been studied and the correlation of Nusselt number and friction factor is proposed. The optimal flat tube geometry is determined by optimal design process. It is assumed to be a three dimensional laminar flow in the analysis of thermal and flow characteristics. The periodic boundary condition is applied since the geometry of flat tube with micro-channels shows uniform cross-section in primary flow direction. Local Nusselt number is examined for thermal characteristics of each membrane, and module average Nusselt number and friction factor are calculated to determine the characteristics of the heat transfer and pressure drop in overall flat tube with microchannels. The correlations between Nusselt number and friction factor are given by Reynolds number, aspect ratio of membranes, and the width of flat tube. ALM (Augmented Lagrangian Multiplier) method is applied to the correlations to determine an optimal shape of flat tube. It is shown that the optimal aspect ratio of flat tube is approximately 1.0, irrespective of the width of flat tube and Reynolds number.

Effect of Tube Area on the Impulse Wave Discharged from the Exit of Tube (관출구로부터 방출되는 펄스파에 미치는 관단면적의 영향)

  • When a shock wave arrives at an open end of tube, an impulse wave is discharged from the tube exit and causes serious noise and vibration problems. In the current study, the effect of the cross-sectional area of tube on the impulse wave is numerically investigated using a CFD method. The Harten-Yee's total variation diminishing(TVD) scheme is used to solve the axisymmetric, two-dimensional, unsteady, compressible Euler equations. With three different cross-sectional areas of tube, the Mach number of the incident shock wave $M_{s}$ is varied between 1.01 and 1.5. The results obtained show that the directivity and magnitude of impulse wave strongly depend upon the Mach number of incident shock wave and are influenced by the tube area. It is also known that the tube cross-sectional area significantly affects the magnitude of impulse wave at or near the tube axis.
