굽힘 모멘트가 작용하는 실린더의 비선형 처짐량 예측을 위한 새로운 공학적 계산식 (New Engineering Methods for Non-Linear Deflection Estimation of Cylinder under Bending)

  • This paper proposes engineering estimation equations for the maximum deflection of a cylinder subject to bending under elastic-plastic and elastic-creep conditions. Being based on the reference stress approach, the proposed equations are simple to use and can accommodate general tensile and creep behaviours. Validation against detailed 3-D FE results using actual stress-strain data and realistic creep-deformation data shows excellent agreement, which provides confidence in the use of the proposed equation. Based on the proposed equations, together with information on in-service inspection data, discussion is given how to estimate future time-dependent and time-independent deflection of the CANDU pressure tube. Thus the present result would be valuable information for integrity assessment of the CANDU pressure tube.

  • This study is concerned about the design and development of three dimensional bending machine. The purpose of this study is design and development of three-dimensional bending machine by analysis of bending process and structural analysis simulation. The analysis is carried out by FEM simulation using DEFORM and CATIA V5 software. Based on this study, the three dimensional bending machine was developed. In order to evaluate a performance and reliability of the developed three dimensional bending machine, we used laser interferometer and three axial measuring system.

원통다관식 열교환기의 압력 변화에 따른 설계 응력 연구 (Study upon Design Stress due to Pressure of Shell-and-Tube Type Heat Exchanger)

  • Shell-and-tube type heat exchangers are generally classified with fixed tube-sheet and floating tube-sheet heat exchangers. In this paper, we employed the fixed tube-sheet heat exchangers. We theoretically investigated the safety evaluation of our shell-tube heat exchanger by axial, bending and equivalent stress of fin tubes, tube plates, channels and shell. Design pressure ranges were chosen pressure($0.6{\sim}2\;MPa$) on tube side and 200 %(3 MPa) of Maximum pressure on shell side for safety evaluation of heat exchangers. This research will be useful for fabrication of heat exchangers to prevent against damage hazard of heat exchangers in operation.

  • This paper deals with the control of an active bending actuator fur a catheter. The bending actuator with 40mm in length utilizes three zigzag SMA (shape memory alloy) springs which are equally located in the circumference between inner $({\phi}2.5 mm)$ and outer $({\phi}3.0mm)$ tube. It is purposed on realization of desired bending angle $(90^{\circ})$ and direction $(360^{\circ})$. It is also installed in front of the catheter and used to guide a path at extremely bent or branched blood vessel. The performance-analysis of the bending actuator are investigated fur the purpose of optimizing the control of the bending actuator. The analog joy stick is used to command a bending angle and direction for the fast and accurate response. According to the commands of the joy stick, tensile force of each SMA spring is computed and obtained by controlling the temperature of each SMA spring using PWM (pulse width modulation) of supplied electric power.

  • Hydroforming is a forming process enabling circular metal tubes to be produced in complex cross sections along curved axial paths. This forming process is widely used to manufacture parts in automotive industry. This paper presents bending and forming results to following angle of weld line positions. These compare to good bending, bad bending and without weld line model case. And then this result of after forming compare to each forming cases. The purpose of this paper is found that adaptive weld line position for bended final shape.

파형강관을 삽입한 중공원형단면 철근콘크리트 부재의 거동에 관한 연구 (Behavior of Circular Hollow Section R.C Member with Internal Corrugated Steel Tube)

  • 파형강관을 삽입하여 보강된 중공원형단면의 역학적 거동을 연구하기 위하여 직경 50cm, 길이 340cm의 시험체를 제작하였고, 3점 휨시험을 수행하였다. 하중재하는 파괴 또는 최대한변형이 발생할 때까지 느리게 증가시켰다. 시험하는 동안에 시험체 중앙의 휨방향 변위와 인장측과 압축측의 종방향 변위를 측정하였다. 측정데이타를 분석한 결과를 파형강관이 삽입되지 않은 등가단면에 대한 해석결과와 비교하였다. 비교결과, 중공 철근콘크리트 부재의 휨강성과 연성이 파형강관을 내부에 삽입함으로써 크게 향상시킬 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Hydroforming Simulation of High-strength Steel Cross-members in an Automotive Rear Subframe

  • Hydroforming is a forming technology in which a steel tube is set in a die and formed to fit a specified shape by applying hydraulic pressure from inside the tube while also applying force in the tube axial direction (axial feed). In present study, the entire design process chain for an automotive cross-member was simulated and developed using hydroforming technology on high-strength steel. The part design stage required a feasibility study. The process was designed using computer-aided design techniques to confirm the actual hydroformability of the part in detail. The possibility of using hydroformable cross-member parts was examined using cross-sectional analyses, which were essential to ensure the formability of the tube material for each forming step, including pre-bending and hydroforming. The die design stage included all the components of a prototyping tool. Press interference was investigated in terms of geometry and thinning.

A new and simple analytical approach to determining the natural frequencies of framed tube structures

  • This paper presents a new and simple solution for determining the natural frequencies of framed tube combined with shear-walls and tube-in-tube systems. The novelty of the presented approach is based on the bending moment function approximation instead of the mode shape function approximation. This novelty makes the presented solution very simpler and very shorter in the mathematical calculations process. The shear stiffness, flexural stiffness and mass per unit length of the structure are variable along the height. The effect of the structure weight on its natural frequencies is considered using a variable axial force. The effects of shear lag phenomena has been investigated on the natural frequencies of the structure. The whole structure is modeled by an equivalent non-prismatic shear-flexural cantilever beam under variable axial forces. The governing differential equation of motion is converted into a system of linear algebraic equations and the natural frequencies are calculated by determining a non-trivial solution for the system of equations. The accuracy of the proposed method is verified through several numerical examples and the results are compared with the literature.

CFRP/Al 혼성 사각부재의 충격에너지 흡수 메카니즘의 실험적 고찰 (An Experimental Study on the Impact Energy Absorption Mechanism of CFRP/Al Compound Square Tube)

  • In this study, the collapse characteristic of CFRP/Al compound square tube was investigated experimentally. The conclusions are as follows; The impact collapse characteristic of CFRP/Al compound square tube was found to be the most superior stacking conditions $[90^{\circ}]_8$. It showed that a very stable collapse mode was crushing. In the member with $[0_2{^{\circ}}/90_2{^{\circ}}]_s$ and $[90_2{^{\circ}}/0_2{^{\circ}}]_s$, stacking conditions, $0^{\circ}$ fibers were splayed to the external by laminar bending, while the $90^{\circ}$ fibers were held between the folds of the aluminum member by laminar bending, local buckling and transverse crack. In the member with $[45_2{^{\circ}}/45_2{^{\circ}}]_s$ stacking conditions, fibers were held between the folds of the aluminum member by local buckling and transverse crack.
