We have developed magnetocardiography(MCG) and impedance magnetocardiography(I-MCG) for detecting heart disease by using dc-SQUID technology. The MCG system, using low-Tc SQUID, is being applied commercially for diagnosing heart disease. Using the low-Tc MCG system, many clinical studies on detection of abnormality have been performed. Furthermore, we have developed a portable MCG system using high-Tc SQUID. For detecting changes in kinetic impedance in the heart, an I-MCG system has been demonstrated. The I-MCG system could detect the mechanical movement of the heart. In this report, we review current clinical applications of magnetocardiography and impedance magnetocardiography.

There is general agreement that the mean land-surface air temperature of the Earth has increased by about 0.6 over the past century (Vinnikov et al., 1990; Jones, 1994). However, IPCC concluded in 1996 that the observed warming was "broadly consistent with predictions of climate models, but it was also the same magnitude as natural climate variability".(omitted).(omitted)

본 논문에서는 GPS 상시관측소들의 안정성을 평가하여 성과산정의 정밀도를 향상시키기 위하여 수원, Tsukuba, 상하이 관측점의 좌표변화량에 대한 최소자승 스펙트럼 분석을 실시하였다. 수원, 스꾸바 및 상하이 상시관측점들은 1994년 이후 지속적으로 관측을 실시하여 오고 있어 계산된 좌표 변화량의 시간이력들에 대한 장기적인 재현성과 주기성을 분석하였다.

We developed a local-scale ecophysiological model, Sim-CYCLE Fine by modifying Sim-CYCLE which was developed for a global scale simulation. Sim-CYCLE fine is able to simulate not only carbon fluxes but also plant growth with various time-steps from an hour to a month. The model outputs of $CO_2$ flux and biomass/LAI were highly reliable; we validated the model results with measurements from the eddy covariance technique and the harvest method ($R^2$ values of around 0.9 for both). The results suggested that the phonology and the seasonal dynamics of the $C_3/C4$ plant communities affected significantly the carbon fluxes and the plant growth during the plant growing season.

Diesel exhaust (DE) has been recognized as a noxious mutagen and/or carcinogen, because its components can form DNA adducts. Mechanisms governing the susceptibility to DE and the efficiency of such DNA adduct formation require clarification. The transcription factor Nrf2 is essential for inducible and/or constitutive expression of a group of detoxification and antioxidant enzymes, and we hypothesized that the nrf2 gene knockout mouse might serve as an excellent model system for analyzing DE toxicity. To address this hypothesis, lungs from nrf2(-/-) and nrf2(+/-) mice were examined for the production of xenobiotic-DNA adducts after exposure to DE (3 $mg/m^{3}$ suspended particulate matter) for 4 weeks. Whereas the relative adduct levels (RAL) were significantly increased in the lungs of both nrf2(+/-) and nrf2(-/-) mice upon exposure to DE, the increase of RAL in the lungs from nrf2(-/-) mice exposed to DE were approximately 2.3-fold higher than that of nrf2(+/-) mite exposed to DE. In contrail, cytochrome P4501Al mRNA levels in the nrf2(-/-)mouse lungs were similar to those in the nrf2(+/-) mouse lungs even after exposure to DE, suggesting that suppressed activity of phase II drug-metabolizing enzymes is important in giving ise to the increased level of DNA adducts in the Nrf2-null mutant mouse subjected to DE. Importantly, severe hyperplasia and accumulation of the oxidative DNA adduct 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine were observed in the bronchial epidermis of nrf(-/-) mite following DE exposure. These results demonstrate the increased susceptibility of the nrf2 germ line mutant mouse to DE exposure and indicate the nrf2 gene knockout mouse nay represent a valuable model for the assessment of respiratory DE toxicity.

A bag is a set-like entity which can contain repeated elements. Fuzzy bags have been studied by Yager, who defined their basic relations and operations. However, his definitions of the basic relations and operations are inconsistent with the corresponding relations and operations for ordinary fuzzy sets. The present paper presents new basic relations and operations of fuzzy bags using a grade sequence for each element of the universal set. Moreover the .alpha.-cut, t-norms, the extension principle, and the composition of fuzzy bag relations are described.

In this paper we introduce a modified objective function for fuzzy c-means clustering with logistic regression model in the presence of noise cluster. The logistic regression model is commonly used to describe the effect of one or several explanatory variables on a binary response variable. In real application there is very often no sharp boundary between clusters so that fuzzy clustering is often better suited for the data.

An image of a set that produces a multiset from an ordinary set and its extension to fuzzy multisets is considered. For each input element, its image is added to the output regardless whether or not there already exists the same image in the output. theoretical properties such as commutativity of the image with $\alpha$-cut or multiset addition are proved. Generalization to the image by multivariable functions is moreover defined.

In dealing with representing knowledge under uncertainty there is a sustain tendency to increase flexibility in order to avoid problems of inconsistency in the knowledge. Many knowledge systems(information retrieval systems, expert system) include hybrid representation models. Funny retrieval systems appear as a complement or as an enrichment of this models. In this paper, we describe dynamic rule modification through situation assessment for uncertainty management.
