This paper presents the on-vehicle information system that displays the states of the vehicle in brief words instead of symbols. Main functions of this system include a system check function, trip function, warning function, and clock function. With this system, a driver can obtain all sorts of useful information related to various conditions of the vehicle, and if any problem arises in the vehicle, he can recognize it by the displayed words with a warning sound. Also, this system is very helpful for safety driving because it displays whatever a driver wants to have concerning trip information. By experimental test and driving test, the development system shows good results for each function.
Trip distribution is to connect travel demand for each OD pair based on travel cost, trip production and attraction derived from trip generation step. In real world the travel cost is a function of travel demand, but existing models could not fully consider such functional relation between travel cost and demand, which leads to an equilibrium in trip distribution model. This paper proves the equilibrium trip distribution by using gravity model. In order to obtain such equilibrium this paper also presents a solution algorithm based on fixed point theorem. The algorithm will be tested with an example and confirmed the equilibrium solution of trip distribution.

The concept of VLDT (Variable Low DNBR Trip), a new CPC trip function, was proposed and applied to the events of increase in secondary heat removal, such as an excess feedwater event anti an IOSGADV (Inadvertent Opening S/G Atmospheric Dump Valve). Major assumption used in this study was no time delay to LOOP (Loss of Offsite Power) after turbine trip. In case of using this VLDT function, safety criterion of DNB would not be violated under the same condition as previous analysis without any change in thermal margin.
The automatic seismic trip system (ASTS) continuously monitors PGA (peak ground acceleration) from the seismic wave, and automatically generates a trip signal. This work presents how the system can be designed by using a systems engineering approach under the given regulatory criteria. Overall design stages, from the needs analysis to design verification, have been executed under the defined processes and activities. Moreover, this work contributes two significant design areas for digitalized ASTS. These are firstly, how to categorize the ASTS if the ASTS has a backed up function of the manual reactor trip, and secondly, how to set the requirements using the given design practices either in overseas ASTS design or similar design. In addition, the methodology for determining the setpoint can be applied to the I&C design and development project which needs to justify the error sources correctly. The systematic approach that has been developed and realized in this work can be utilized in designing new I&C (instrument and control system) as well.

Most of the reactor trips in Korean NPPs related to core protection systems were caused not because of proximity of boiling crisis and, consequently, a damage in the core, but due to particular miscalculations or component failures related to the core protection system. The most common core protection system applied in Korean NPPs is the Core Protection Calculator System (CPCS), which is installed in OPR1000 and APR1400 plants. It generates a trip signal to scram the reactor in case of low Departure from Nucleate Boiling Ratio (DNBR) or high Local Power Density (LPD). However, is a reactor trip necessary to protect the core? Or could a fast power reduction be enough to recover the DNBR/LPD without a scram? In order to analyze the online calculation of DNBR/LPD, and the use of fast power reduction as trip avoidance methodology, a concept of CPCS with fast power reduction function was developed in Matlab® Simulink using systems engineering approach. The system was validated with maximum of 0.2% deviation from the reference and the dynamic deviation was maximum of 12.65% for DNBR and 6.72% for LPD during a transient of 16,000 seconds.
The major concern of this paper is to investigate the properties of a stochastic equilibrium for each model system in terms of a consumer welfare measure. The primary assumption for this study is that a trip-maker would choose the trip from his origin zone which maximizes his personal welfare. This assumption, finally, leads to a singly constrained gravity model. The consumer welfare measure is derived from the concept of expected welfare of randomly sampled trip-makers. Each of the four different models considered in this paper is differentiated depending on the complexity of its model or the definition of its travel function. In this study, three different regions are chosen for the purpose of taking into account the effects of different zone-systems on the properties of a stochastic equilibrium : (i) Archerville region (5 zone) ; (ii) San Francisco Bay regions (30 zones) ; (iii) Houston, TX region (199 zones). It is concluded that almost identical, "global" consumer welfare values can be obtained in some cases of the gravity-type trip distribution models based on a stochastic equilibrium.

The domestic 30AFs that are currently being produced show many problems due to different instantaneous trip characteristics in case of short-circuit. The troubles may cause explosion by excessive short-circuit capacities and arc emission, which results in a wide range of blackout. The function and safety of the low voltage circuit breakers installed before the end load are very important. This paper presents an idea on the safety improvement of the low voltage circuit-breakers through the analysis of instantaneous trip characteristics of domestic 30AF circuit-breakers.

The characteristics of dynamic terms in the core overtemperature Delta-T trip function are investigated for various time constants and the effects on the trip setpoint are studied for the uncontrolled RCCA bank withdrawal at power event by using the NLOOP and the PUMA code. Based on this study, a procedure determining the optimal dynamic term is suggested and accordingly the optimum time constants are determined for the KORI 3&4 transition core. It reveals that the vessel average temperature-lead-lag term is the most sensitive in DNB trip setpoint and the optimized time constants are 21 seconds for lead and 4 seconds for lag.
A network model and a Genetic Algorithm (GA) is proposed to solve the simultaneous estimation of the trip distribution and traffic assignment from traffic counts in the congested networks in a logit-based Stochastic User Equilibrium (SUE). The model is formulated as a problem of minimizing a non-linear objective function with the linear constraints. In the model, the flow-conservation constraints are utilized to restrict the solution space and to force the link flows become consistent to the traffic counts. The objective of the model is to minimize the discrepancies between two sets of link flows. One is the set of link flows satisfying the constraints of flow-conservation, trip production from origin, trip attraction to destination and traffic counts at observed links. The other is the set of link flows those are estimated through the trip distribution and traffic assignment using the path flow estimator in the logit-based SUE. In the proposed GA, a chromosome is defined as a real vector representing a set of Origin-Destination Matrix (ODM), link flows and route-choice dispersion coefficient. Each chromosome is evaluated by the corresponding discrepancies. The population of the chromosome is evolved by the concurrent simplex crossover and random mutation. To maintain the feasibility of solutions, a bounded vector shipment technique is used during the crossover and mutation.
The Korea Transport Institute (KOTI) builds the origin and destination(O-D) trip data with relatively smaller zone size such as Eup, Myeon, Dong administration unit districts in metropolitan area. Otherwise, O-D trip data was built by bigger size of traffic analysis zone(TAZ) such as Si, Gun, Gu administration unit districts for rural area. In some cases, it is needed to divide a zone into several sub-zones for rural area in order to analyze travel distribution pattern in detail for a certain highway and rail project. The study suggested a method to estimate O-D trips for sub-zones in the larger-size zones in rural area. Two different distribution models, direct demand model and gravity model, were calibrated for sub-zone's intra-zonal O-D trip pattern with metropolitan area O-D data which has smaller zone-size (sub-zone) data categorized by low, middle and high population density. The calibration results were compared between the two models. The gravity model with impedance function of power functional form was selected with better explanation for all groups in the metropolitan area. The adjusted $R^2$ was 0.7426, 0.6456 and 0.7194 for low, middle and high population density group, respectively. The suggested O-D trip estimating method is expected to produce enhanced trip patterns with sub-divided small zones.
