  • Mechanical structures of military equipment have been mainly applied with black oxide coating due to the limitation of surface treatment thickness. However, the mechanical structures applied by the black oxide coating treatment is constantly being corroded by calcium chloride and humidity. Since this can cause serious problems in the operation of equipment, a review to improve surface treatment and corrosion resistance is required. Therefore, in this study, surface treatment methods that can enhance corrosion resistance were selected and corrosion resistance performance was verified through experiments describing harsh field conditions. Thus, applying a proven surface treatment method to future military equipment will prevent corrosion.

  • Amorphous carbon (a-C) films have been deposited on Si(100) substrate using RF magnetron system in order to investigate the electron field emission properties. The a-C films were treated by $N_2$ gas plasma at room temperature. Surface morphologices and structural properties of the a-C films before and after $N_2$ plasma treatment were observed by scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscope, respectively. Structural properties and surface morphology of the a-C films were changed by $N_2$ plasma treatment. The emission properties can be improved by the plasma treatment according to the contents of nitrogen on the a-C films which is varied by plasma treatment time. Before the plasma treatment, the a-C films are found to have a threshold field of 14 V/$\mu$m, but the a-C film treated by $N_2$ plasma for 30 min exhibit threshold field as low as 6.5 V/$\mu$m.

  • PURPOSES : In this study, field performance evaluation of crack treatment of pavement and the feasibility of surface treatment of pavement are presented. The performance and cost of preventive maintenance methods have been previously verified, and the methods are being used in many developed countries and cities. However, the performance and cost of the system have not been verified in domestic, field applications. Therefore, in order to improve performance, the field performance is evaluated, and a reasonable cost is proposed. METHODS : Visual Inspection was conducted to evaluate the field application and performance of the preventive maintenance method. In addition, the PCI index was calculated from the results of visual inspection of the application area of the surface treatment method, and the performance life of each method was predicted. For the economic evaluation, life cycle cost analysis was performed using the life cycle cost analysis program. RESULTS :In order to evaluate and quantify the field performance of crack repair material, the residue condition of the pavement surface after crack treatment, rather than the performance of the material, is evaluated. In addition, the crack resistance and performance life of surface treatment methods are evaluated. The cost of currently available treatment methods are compared to the common pavement cut and overlay method, and it is determined that the preventive method is not economical based on life cycle cost analysis. CONCLUSIONS :Because of the characteristics of cracking, it is necessary to conduct the evaluation of currently applied methods and the analysis of the cause of damage, by visual inspection. Moreover, in order to evaluate the performance and economic suitability of the currently applied surface treatment methods, it is necessary to acquire information on application sections by monitoring their long-term conditions and performance.

  • The effects of interlayer formation and thermal treatment on the field-emission properties of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were investigated. The CNTs were prepared on tungsten (W) micro-tip substrates using the electrophoretic deposition (EPD) method. The interlayers, such as aluminum (Al) and hafnium (Hf) were coated on the W-tips prior to CNT deposition and after the deposition of CNTs all the species were thermally treated at $700^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. The field-emission properties of CNTs were significantly improved by thermal treatment. The threshold electric field for igniting the electron emission was decreased and the emission current was increased. The Raman spectroscopy results indicated that this was attributed mainly to the enhancement of CNTs by thermal treatment. Also, the CNTs deposited on the interlayers showed the remarkably improved results in the long-term emission stability, especially when they were thermally treated. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurement confirmed that this was resulted from the formation of the additional cohesive forces between the CNTs and the underlying interlayers.

  • Fabrication of photosensitive carbon nanotubes paste and its post-treatment has been developed for high resolution with good electron emission uniformity. We report novel post-treatment techniques including rubber-rolling and multiple field emission cycling from which we could improve the field emission properties of printed carbon nanotubes. These techniques would be easily applicable to large area field emission display using paste of carbon nanotubes

  • In this paper, the electrolyte flow treatment is suggested using together with needle and magnet. On account of Lorentz force law, we can not only induce the circulation of body fluids at specific hurt but also apply on the treatment of cell membrane voltage control controlling the electrolyte flow. If electric field is added to human body fluid, electrolyte and then magnetic field is taken by magnet, we can induce local region flow through needle, global region flow with artificial electrical field and magnetic field. Electrolyte flow is excellent treatment in clinical treatment.

  • This paper presents the water treatment system with high performance electromagnetic field for a good quality of water. The electromagnetic field water treater consists of a solion, a solion body, and a high voltage converter. The high voltage converter is controlled by PWM current controller. The high voltage converter of 13W is designed for an isolation operation amp, an isolation current detector, and an over current protector. Using the high voltage PWM converter, the system with the proposed electromagnetic field water treater can be controlled easily. Simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of the system strategy proposed for the scale rejection.

  • Treatment with antagonistic rhizobactera Burkholderia cepacia strain N9523 or an inducer of resistance DL-$\beta$-amino-n-butyric acid (BABA) effectively inhibited Phytophthora capsici infection on pepper plants in artificially infested pots. Treatment with BABA alone at $1,000\mu\textrm{g}$/ml or together with B. cepacia in combination induced a strong protection from the Phytophthora disease in the greenhouse. In artificially infested field, protection of pepper plants against the Phytophthora epidemic by BABA treatment was maintained at a considerable level. In contrast, soil drench with the antagonist B. cepacia alone, or in combination with BABA did not suppress the Phytophthora epidemic in the field. Mortality of pepper plants caused by P. capsici infection was significantly reduced by treatment with the antagonist Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain 950923-29 and BABA (12-29% plants diseased) relative to the untreated control (41-91% plants diseased) in the naturally infested field. Treatment with the antagonist Ps. aeruginosa strain 950923-29 and BABA also resulted in high levels of protection against Phytophthora blight in pepper plants. In the plastic filmhouse test, the average percentage of plants diseased was significantly low relative to the naturally infested field. Treatment with the antagonist Ps. aeruginosa strain 950923-29 and BABA in combination was most effective in suppressing the Phytophthora disease in field and plastic filmhouse.
