  • This paper is an explanation of a design and an implementation of Web 2.0 online travel agency system for frequent decision-making. On the Web 2.0 travel agency system, optimized information is obtained by applying data mining technology such as association rules, decision trees, and neural networks, and this system is a unified system that consists of the block systems of hotels, ground traffic, and flights in tour packages of a travel agency system. Furthermore, it is implemented to manage the system that is not for the administrator of a travel agency system, but for users or communities that use the system need their own information. The expected effect of this system is to maximize the investment company's efficiency through a new-concept interest model created by B2C customers, and also B2B small and medium-sized travel agencies adopting the system. As a result, it is a system that stimulates dormant customer activity and prevents good customers from leaving by maximizing the merit and capacity of the existed web site for marketing. Moreover, this system is also a model for people who plan customized travel agency business, and will show a way for the domestic and international travel agency industry's globalization.

  • Recently, various public transportation activation policies are being implemented in order to mitigate traffic congestion in metropolitan areas. Especially in the metropolitan area, the bus information system has been introduced to provide information on the current location of the bus and the estimated arrival time. However, it is difficult to predict the travel time due to repetitive traffic congestion in buses passing through complex urban areas due to repetitive traffic congestion and bus bunching. The previous bus travel time study has difficulties in providing information on route travel time of bus users and information on long-term travel time due to short-term travel time prediction based on the data-driven method. In this study, the path based long-term bus travel time prediction methodology is studied. For this purpose, the training data is composed of 2015 bus travel information and the 2016 data are composed of verification data. We analyze bus travel information and factors affecting bus travel time were classified into departure time, day of week, and weather factors. These factors were used into clusters with similar patterns using self organizing map. Based on the derived clusters, the reference table for bus travel time by day and departure time for sunny and rainy days were constructed. The accuracy of bus travel time derived from this study was verified using the verification data. It is expected that the prediction algorithm of this paper could overcome the limitation of the existing intuitive and empirical approach, and it is possible to improve bus user satisfaction and to establish flexible public transportation policy by improving prediction accuracy.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify and analyze the factors that influence the intention using the travel-blog. This study sought to find out the motivation factors of a Blog. Also, This paper tests the updated model of information systems success proposed by Delone and McLean using a field study of a travel-blog. The three dimensions of the blog Quality were information, design and system. And The three dimensions of the motivation factors were pride, enjoyment and ease of use. Questionaries are collected from 196 peoples who are using the travel-blog. The results of study show, first, that information quality, pride and enjoyment are significant predictors of user satisfaction, second, that pride, enjoyment, and satisfaction are significant of reuse intention with the travel-blog. Third, ease of use did not have positive effects on reuse intention to travel-blog.

  • Social media has been integrated into a part of travel industry. Subsequently, it has influenced tourists' travel behavior. Prior studies claim that individuals have different behaviors regarding the use of social media for travel purposes. With lack of studies focusing on age group, the objective of this study is to determine whether there is a difference in the motivation among three generations in using social media for the sake of sharing travel experiences. Finding shows that all generations use social media with similar motivation for travel purposes. They have high motivation in obtaining travel information before the trip and in sharing memorable travel experiences through social media. They also wanted to keep such information as personal document during and after the traveling.

  • Nowadays, the interests in travel are increasing with the changes into the ubiquitous computing environments, hence, our location-based travel information service system would be potentially invaluable to graft the Internet business models. Most of existing travel information services are provided in a one-way push manner from the contents providers to users, and they have drawbacks of enforcing users to search their needed information with the general Web surfing. Therefore, this paper propose the travel information system for gathering user information and for providing services that satisfy user requirements by filtering based on these information.

  • Traditional travel information systems provide us with comprehensive information and internet-based travel information systems (IBTIS) with useful information. However, they suffer from limited access to the system, and a lack of flexibility for user requirements. In order to overcome these problems, this research introduces a knowledge-based expert system approach. As a case study, a Knowledge-based Expert System for guiding a New Zealand tour (KEGUNZ) has been developed to suggest highly user-oriented travel plans efficiently in New Zealand. KEGUNZ has been implemented using EXSYS, an expert system shell.

  • Data for travel information Provision are regularly aggregated to Provide travel time information in a reliable and convenient manner and to manage traffic data and information efficiently. In most of practices in Korea, the GPS based travel time data are mainly aggregated every 5 minutes As a result, some probes can't pass by a link within aggregation interval and thereby create uncompleted link passing data. But these data are mostly generated during the congested times and therefore a method that uses such uncompleted link passing data are required. This study estimated queue dissipation length, green time and cycle that use GPS spot speed and developed a link travel time estimation method using such uncompleted link passing data. It also presents method and the overall process of using such data to estimate link travel time in a more accurate manner. As a result, MAPE 1.98% and MAE 4.75 sec of link travel time accuracy improvement has been reported, which is not much different from the real link travel time. The method Proposed here would be an alternative to increase the amount of GPS probe data, especially in congested urban arterial case.

  • Probe-based systems have been gaining popularity in advanced traveler information systems. However, the high possibility of providing inaccurate travel-time information due to the inherent time-lag phenomenon is still an important issue to be resolved. To mitigate the time-lag problem, different prediction techniques have been applied, but the techniques are generally regarded as less effective for travel times with high variability. For this reason, current 5-min aggregated data have been commonly used for real-time travel-time provision on highways with high travel-time fluctuation. However, the 5-min aggregation interval itself can further increase the time-lags in the real-time travel-time information equivalent to 5 minutes. In this study, a new scheme that uses both individual probe and 5-min aggregated travel times is suggested to provide reliable real-time travel-time information. The scheme utilizes individual probe data under congested conditions and 5-min aggregated data under uncongested conditions, respectively. As a result of an evaluation with field data, the proposed scheme showed the best performance, with a maximum reduction in travel-time error of 18%.
