In the present investigation, we study the influence of a transverse magnetic field through a porous medium. Laplace transform techniques are used to derive the solution in the Laplace transform domain. The inversion process is carried out using a numerical method based on Fourier series expansions. Numerical computations for the temperature, the microrotation and the velocity distributions as well as for the induced magnetic and electric fields and carried out and represented graphically.

Using the MHD coronal seismology technique, we estimated the magnetic field for three spicules observed in 2008 June. For this study, we used the high resolution Ca II H line ($3968.5\;{\AA}$) images observed by the Hinode SOT and considered a vertical thin flux tube as a spicule model. To our knowledge, this is the first attempt to estimate the spicule magnetic field using the Hinode observation. From the observed oscillation properties, we determined the periods, amplitudes, minimum wavelengths, and wave speeds. We interpreted the observed oscillations as MHD kink waves propagating through a vertical thin flux tube embedded in a uniform field environment. Then we estimated spicule magnetic field assuming spicule densities. Major results from this study are as follows : (1) we observed three oscillating spicules having durations of 5-7 minutes, oscillating periods of 2-3 minutes, and transverse displacements of 700-1000 km. (2) The estimated magnetic field in spicules is about 10-18 G for lower density limit and about 43-76 G for upper density limit. (3) In this analysis, we can estimate the minimum wavelength of the oscillations, such as 60000 km, 56000 km, and 45000 km. This may be due to the much longer wavelength comparing with the height of spicules. (4) In the first event occurred on 2008 June 03, the oscillation existed during limited time (about 250 s). This means that the oscillation may be triggered by an impulsive mechanism (like low atmospheric reconnection), not continuous. Being compared with the ground-based observations of spicule oscillations, our observation indicates quite different one, i.e., more than one order longer in wavelength, a factor of 3-4 larger in wave speed, and 2-3 times longer in period.

Magnetic and magneto-optical properties of Fe/Pt/Fe, Co/Pd/Co trilayers and also the sandwiches with wedge-shaped magnetic (Fe, Co) and nonmagnetic (Pt, Pd) layers were investigated. The oscillatory behavior of the saturation field $H_{s}$ of the studied trilayers with changing the thickness of the nonmagnetic layer (NML) $t_{NML}$ was revealed. That was explained by the exchange coupling between ferromagnetic layers (FML) through the nonmagnetic spacer. For the first time, oscillations of the transverse Kerr effect (TKE) with changing the Pt- and Pd-wedge thickness were discovered. Period of these oscillations was found to depend on the FML thickness and the photon energy of the incident light. TKE spectra of the examined samples were discovered to modify very strongly with increasing $t_{NML}$. The discovered peculiarities of magneto-optical properties of thin-film systems were explained by a concept of the spin-polarized quantum well states in the pt and Pd layers.

Dynamic behavior of temperature-dependent Reddy functionally graded (RFG) nanobeam subjected to thermomagnetic effects under the action of moving point load is carried out in the present work. Both symmetric and sigmoid functionally graded material distributions throughout the beam thickness are considered. To consider the significance of strain-stress gradient field, a material length scale parameter (LSP) is introduced while the significance of nonlocal elastic stress field is considered by introducing a nonlocal parameter (NP). In the framework of the nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT), the dynamic equations of motion are derived through Hamilton's principle. Navier approach is employed to solve the resulting equations of motion of the functionally graded (FG) nanoscale beam. The developed model is verified and compared with the available previous results and good agreement is observed. Effects of through-thickness variation of FG material distribution, beam aspect ratio, temperature variation, and magnetic field as well as the size-dependent parameters on the dynamic behavior are investigated. Introduction of the magnetic effect creates a hardening effect; therefore, higher values of natural frequencies are obtained while smaller values of the transverse deflections are produced. The obtained results can be useful as reference solutions for future dynamic and control analysis of FG nanobeams reinforced nanocomposites under thermomagnetic effects.
Strands composing multistage superconducting cables for AC power applications have twisted structure in each stage for lower AC loss and higher stability. So, when transport currents flow in a cable, each strand is exposed to longitudinal and azimuthal magnetic fields produced by transport current flowing in strand itself and Iongitudinal and transverse magnetic fields by transport current flowing in twisted cable. In this paper. we study the influence on self field lesses generated in second stage superconducting cable for different twist direction of filaments in a strand considering twist of strands in cables.
The 4-pole LHSM was composed of the figure-of-eight shaped 3-phase armature windings, DC field windings, and the segmented secondary with the transverse bar track. Three dimensional model of LHSM provided the equivalent reluctance and PM model for 2D FEA. From these 2D FEA models, when the motor was fed by DC and 3-phase currents, the magnetic field were calculated and compared with the results of 3D FEA.
The magneto-rheological visco-elastomer (MRVE) is used as a smart core to control the stochastic micro-vibration of a sandwich plate with supported mass. The micro-vibration response of the sandwich plate with MRVE core and supported mass under stochastic support motion excitations is studied and compared to evaluate the vibration suppression capability. The effects of the supported mass and localized magnetic field on the stochastic micro-vibration response of the MRVE sandwich plate are taken into account. The dynamic characteristics of the MRVE core in micro-vibration are described by a non-homogeneous complex modulus dependent on vibration frequency and controllable by applied magnetic fields. The partial differential equations for the coupled transverse and longitudinal motions of the MRVE sandwich plate with supported mass are derived from the dynamic equilibrium, constitutive and geometric relations. The simplified ordinary differential equations are obtained for the transverse vibration of the MRVE sandwich plate under localized magnetic fields. A frequency-domain solution method for the stochastic micro-vibration response of sandwich plates with supported mass is developed based on the Galerkin method and random vibration theory. The expressions of frequency-response functions, response power spectral densities and root-mean-square velocity responses of the plate in terms of the one-third octave frequency band are obtained for micro-vibration evaluation. Finally, numerical results are given to illustrate the large response reduction capacity of the MRVE sandwich plate with supported mass under stochastic support motion excitations, and the influences of MRVE parameters, supported mass and localized magnetic field placement on the micro-vibration response.

In the transverse flux linear induction motor(TFLIM) with the general secondary composed of conductor and back-yoke, there exists a magnetized force into the normal direction or the air-gap direction of the thrust motion as well as the thrust force. Therefore, the various methodologies have been tried to use the normal force by the two independent control variables of the multi-phase input. But, as the force depends inevitably and strongly on the thrust force, it is essential to decouple both forces for two control index. In this paper, we suggest a novel approach capable of compensating the couple between both forces and the control index by using the DC-biased multi-phase input, and then realizing the independent control of TFLIM.
Filament eruptions are one of the energetic phenomena on the solar surface with flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs). We observed the whole process of filament eruption that occurred in AR 11305 in association with a C5.6 flare on 2011 September 29th using the Fast Imaging Solar Spectrograph (FISS) and the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). The eruption consists of a slow phase with a transverse speed of ~10 km $s^{-1}$ in 16 minutes and a fast phase with a transverse speed of ~200 km $s^{-1}$ in 3 minutes. Near the beginning of slow phase eruption, preflare brightening occurred beneath the filament in $H{\alpha}$ and some EUV images. The preflare brightening region is associated with a blue-shifted $H{\alpha}$ feature with a speed of ~60 km $s^{-1}$. It appears that this is the outflow from magnetic reconnection which may have occurred at relatively low atmosphere. Our result support the notion that the preflare brightening is a process of magnetic reconnection playing an important role in triggering the filament eruption by deformative the magnetic field lines under the eruptive filament.
A significant enhancement of the magneto-optical Faraday rotation and extraordinary optical transmission (EOT) in the cascaded double-fishnet (CDF) structure with periodic rectangular apertures is theoretically predicted by using the extended finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The results demonstrate that the transmittance spectrum of the CDF structure has two EOT resonant peaks in a broad spectrum spanning visible to near-infrared wavebands, one of them coinciding with the enhanced Faraday rotation and large figure of merit (FOM) at the same wavelength. It is most important that the resonant position and intensity of the transmittance, Faraday rotation and FOM can be simply tailored by adjusting the incident wavelength, the thickness of the magnetic layer, and the offset between two metallic rectangular apertures, etc. Furthermore, the intrinsic physical mechanism of the resonance characteristics of the transmittance and Faraday rotation is thoroughly studied by investigating the electromagnetic field distributions at the location of resonance. It is shown that the transmittance resonance is mainly determined by different hybrid modes of surface plasmons (SPs) and plasmonic electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) behavior, and the enhancement of Faraday rotation is mostly governed by the plasmonic electromagnetically induced absorption (EIA) behavior and the conversion of the transverse magnetic (TM) mode and transverse electric (TE) mode in the magnetic dielectric layer.
