Infrastructure and Leading Commodity Identification on Poverty Alleviation in Buru Regency, Indonesia

  • The poverty level in Buru Regency is still high, despite the relatively stable economic growth. For this reason, the purpose of this study was to (1) Identify the leading commodity in each district in Buru Regency; (2) Analyze the effect of road infrastructure and leading commodities on poverty. The findings show that the most sparsely populated district is Fena Leisela, with mangoes as the leading commodity. Pineapple, langsat, apple rose, cabbages, cashews, coffee, cashew, melon, and watermelon are the leading products in Air Buaya, Batabual, Waplau, Lolong Guba, Lilialy, Waelata, Namlea, Kaiely Bay, and Waeapo, respectively. Additionally, the results also indicate that road infrastructure and leading commodities have a significant effect on poverty alleviation in Buru Regency. It means that improving infrastructure and increasing leading commodities production reduce poverty in the region. Good road infrastructure can promote connectivity between regions so that it can accelerate and expand economic development. The provision of infrastructure that encourages connectivity will reduce transportation costs and logistics costs to increase product competitiveness and accelerate the economic movement. When the road infrastructure in Buru Regency improves and new roads are built, it can improve transportation access, it will reduce the living cost for the poor and increase income, and open up opportunities for the poor to benefit from economic growth.

U-City 분야별 서비스에 대한 선호도 분석 (Preference Analysis for U-City Services)

  • U-City applies ubiquitous information technologies such as RFID, GPS, USN to various components of city functions and services. The concept of U-City was popularized especially in Korea and currently more than 40 projects have been carrying out all over country. U-City incorporates advanced information communication technologies into ubiquitous information services to provide better quality of life. The purpose of this study is to analyze preferences for the U-City services by surveying experts in U-City developing companies. This study employs Analytic Hierarchy Process which is very useful tool for performing multi-criteria decision making. Total of 28 responses were used in the analysis. The results indicated that the first 7 most preferred items were from transportation and safety area and environment and healthcare area and 4 out of 6 items in transportation and safety area were ranked among them. It implies that respondents consider countering anxiety caused by congested traffic, natural disasters, crimes, etc most important aspect that U-City should deal with. On the other hand, U-Port, U-Convention, U-Logistics, U-Public Administration and U-City Portal were listed as the least preferred services.

  • 우리 사회는 전력의 생산 및 배전 시스템, 통신기술, 텔레커뮤니케이션, 금융시스템, 수송시스템 등의 효율적이고 정상적으로 운영 됨으로써 국가의 중대한 인프라로 구성이 된다. 이런 중대한 인프라 및 그 응용분야는 P.N.T(Positioning, Navigation, Timing) 시스템에 의존하고 있는데 이 P.N.T가 텔레커뮤니케이션(시각동기), 금융시장(시각동기), 물류관리(위치, 항법, 시각동기), 수송(위치, 항법, 시각동기) 등의 버팀목이 된다. 국가적으로 P.N.T 서비스를 지속적으로 사용할 수 있도록 GPS 시스템과 별도의 항법시스템 구축이 필요하여 안정적으로 PNT 서비스를 할 수 있는 시스템 구축에 대한 연구를 하였다.

  • Enormous flocks by the reduced life cycle of products caused by the technological innovation if later 20 century, development of new materials and diversified demands of customers appeared as the pressing element causing the trouble in management of companies, and when considering the logistic costs that are imposed to companies in terms of function, the costs related to the stock topped the list of costs, followed by the transportation ones, and for pallet pool system, inventory of stocks is very difficult by the number of companies. Reducing the logistic cost may be accomplished by numbers of logistic management methods, but the most fundamental and essential one is the accomplishment of the consistent pallet system that is the core of unit load system, and the purpose of consistent pallet system is the treatment of logistic functions such as transportation, storage and unloading with consistent pallet system, and increasing the turnover ratio is required for the improvement of the system. As the turnover ratios is increased, more pallets will be used so, numbers of empty pallets will be increased accordingly by returning the pallet. Therefore, in this study, we will establish the effective stock management system by comparing with the other existing stock management system after looking at the concept and examples of pallet full system in order to resolved this kind of problem.

Managing maritime automobile terminals: an approach toward decision-support model for higher productivity

  • The article describes actions and strategies to obtain higher productivity on maritime automobile terminals. The main focus is on elaboration of efficient and effective organizational structure to model and implement short-term, mid-term and long-term strategies. In addition, with an empiric approach we combined the analyses of current findings in important scientific papers and our acknowledgments in practical research of north Adriatic maritime automobile terminals. The main goal is to propose actions towards increasing system's productivity. Based on our research of the north Adriatic maritime automobile terminals and with Lambert's model an in-deep analysis of limiting factors, user's expectations and possibilities for productivity increase has been performed. Moreover, with our acknowledgments a three-level decision-support model is presented. With an adequate model implementation it is possible to efficiently develop and implement different strategies of productivity measurement and productivity increase, especially in the fields of internal transport productivity, entrance/exit truck gates operations and wagon manipulations. According to our observation a significant increase might be achieved in all three fields.

Estimation of Freight Trip Generation Rates based on Commodity Flow Survey in Korea

  • In Korea, almost 700 industrial parks are under operation. Generally, industrial parks consist of national industrial parks and local industrial parks which are managed by a central government and by local governments respectively. The developing countries such as Korea, China and Vietnam etc. have constructed many industrial parks, which result in the change of land use pattern and also affect future trip demands. Therefore, in estimating traffic demands, it is very important to consider the industrial park development. This study aims to improve the methodology in estimating a freight trip generation rate with the data based on a nationwide commodity freight survey. The result showed that it is desirable to apply freight trip generation rate by the industry sector in estimating freight trip generations and using the production area of firm as an indicator. Specially, the reliability of the rates through a survey could be made sure because a sample rate based on firms in industrial parks was over 25% and the response rate was over 67%. The sample rate and response rate are very superior as compared to surveys conducted in many other countries. Because industrial parks have significant effects on forecasting transportation demand in pre-feasibility studies of transport and logistics projects, it is expected that the accuracy of freight trip demands would be improved through the results of this study.

친환경수단으로서의 철도화물운송 증대를 위한 Modal Shift 정책 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on Policy of Modal Shift for Enhancing of Eco-friendly Rail Freight Transportation)

  • Global warming has become one of the most important social responsibilities. After Kyoto protocol for greenhouse gas reduction by climatic change convention came into effect, developed countries are presenting various policies to reduce greenhouse gas that is produced in transport field. One of those policies is modal shift that change from road freight to sea, inland waterway and railway transportation that is eco-friendly. Because increase of road freight brings about road congestion and accident, logistics cost, air pollution and green house gases. Railways are superior to all other modes of transport in mass transportability, high speed, timeliness, safety and environmental-friendliness, but the railway industry has been pushed behind in competition. In developed country's government actively promoted relevant legislation, policies, and countermeasures known as modal shift policies to shift freight transport from road to large volume mode such as railway and ship. In this paper, we discuss the current situation in modal shift, compare it with cases in other countries EU and Japan, identify problems in Korea, and propose the following ways to enhance competitiveness of rail freight.

  • 전자상거래상의 물적 분배시스템에서는 수요자 중심의 분배활동을 우선하므로 신속한 수송과 낮은 물류비용이 기업의 경쟁력을 좌우한다. 그러나 물류거점 단계별로 협력체계가 구축되지 않은 기존 유통망 하에서는 전체적인 물류시스템 최적화를 추구할 수 없는 상황이며, 이에 대한 연구도 미비한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 다단계 분배시스템을 대상으로 최적의 주문 및 수송정책을 통한 전체 시스템의 비용을 절감하기 위하여 비용모형을 분석함으로써 전체 시스템이 공동 로트크기를 결정할 수 있는 방안을 제시한다. 본 연구의 결과는 앞으로 수송비의 최소화하는 수송차량과 수송량의 통합 등의 물류공동화를 위한 알고리즘 개발에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

아세안 대상 ITS 표준화 협력 서비스분야 연구 (A Study on ITS Standardization Cooperation Service Field Study for ASEAN Countries)

  • 본 논문에서는 ITS 분야의 한국의 표준화 역량을 점검하였으며, 아시안 국가들의 ITS 표준화 참여 및 서비스 현황과 한국과의 협력 희망정도를 조사 분석하였다. 그 결과 한국은 ITS 표준화 분야에서 국제적인 역량을 인정받고 있으며, 싱가포르를 제외한 아세안 대부분의 국가들은 ITS 표준화 참여도와 서비스 도입이 미진한 것으로 파악되었다. 또한 아세안 대부분의 나라들이 한국과 ITS 표준화 협력을 희망하고 있으며, 우선적으로 ITS 표준화의 기반인 ITS 시스템 아키텍처 구축을 선호하는 것으로 파악되었다. 또한 표준화 도입 서비스분야로는 아세안 국가 간 물류운송 효율성 제고 등을 고려하여 화물 운송 분야가 우선 적용 서비스 분야로 제시되었다.

  • 국내 항만산업의 발전과 더불어 내륙운송 산업 또한 발전하였으며 이에 따라 항만은 내륙과 연결하는 거점 역할이 증대되고 있다. 이에 따라 항만과 각 지역들 간의 화물 흐름에 관한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 하지만 우리나라 기종점 통계 자료는 단순하게 O/D분석방법을 이용하여 구축되어 화물의 정확한 운송경로를 파악하기 어려운 문제점이 있다. 또한 이러한 통계자료는 철도를 이용한 복합운송을 제대로 고려하지 못하는 단점이 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 P/C개념을 도입하여 부산항을 입출항하는 컨테이너를 대상으로 화물경로분석을 실시하여 화물의 정확한 운송경로를 파악하고 이에 따른 각 지역 간의 기종점 자료를 재구축하였다.
