Design of a Safe-driving Assistant System based on the IEEE WAVE (IEEE WAVE 기반 안전운전 지원 시스템의 설계)

  • IEEE WAVE is going through the final standardization process as the wireless access technology which provides drivers in high-speed vehicles with safety-related information and commercial services This paper presents an application-layer protocol for safe driving assistant service and a service system emulator based on this protocol. The safe driving assistant system includes a construction zone information service and a vehicle crash notification service, an emergency vehicle notification service, a probing service and a dilemma zone decision assistant service. Emulator System design for verifying functions of system, The emulator consists of an emulator server that models the movement of all vehicles and road states and a number of clients that models functional units for OBUs, RSUs, and a traffic control center).

RCDP: Raptor-Based Content Delivery Protocol for Unicast Communication in Wireless Networks for ITS

  • Recent advances in forward error correction (FEC) coding techniques were focused on addressing the challenges of multicast and broadcast delivery. However, FEC approaches can also be used for unicast content delivery in order to solve transmission control protocol issues found in wireless networks. In this paper, we exploit the error resilient properties of Raptor codes by proposing Raptor-based content delivery protocol (RCDP) - a novel solution for reliable and bidirectional unicast communication in lossy links that can improve content delivery in situations where the wireless network is the bottleneck. RCDP has been designed, validated, optimized, and its performance has been analyzed in terms of throughput and resource efficiency. Experimental results show that RCDP is a highly efficient solution for environments characterized by high delays and packet losses making it very suitable for intelligent transport system oriented applications since it achieves significant performance improvements when compared to traditional transport layer protocols.

Implementation of Temperature and Humidity Sensor Module Based on Z-wave (Z-Wave 기반의 온습도 센서 모듈 구현)

  • The most commonly used wireless communication technologies in IoT technology include ZigBee, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Z-Wave. In particular, Z-Wave is currently one of the preferred wireless communication technologies, with a global market share of 60 % of these technologies. In this research, a temperature and humidity sensor module using a Z-wave protocol was designed and manufactured by referring to the data sheet. Subsequently, the Z-Wave protocol was analyzed during the operation of the sensor module, and the firmware of the controller module was mounted and implemented. In addition, a program for monitoring the temperature and humidity information from the sensor module was developed and validated. Finally, the performance of the sensor module was validated through master distance and low power tests on it and its reception data success rate.

  • In this paper, we propose a new signaling protocol as an extension of Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) based PCE protocol for control carrier ethernet. The proposed protocol is not only compatible with the GMPLS PCE standard protocol, but also provides the topology discovery and configuration. In order to verify interoperability, we implement the proposed protocol as well as the system integrating functions including commercial system for testbed. In addition, we have simulated topology discovery test for proposed protocol performance.

  • When using reliable multicast protocol over air links, the multicast packets lost in the air link cause the initiation of retransmission request packets and the implosion of retransmission packets, which deteriorate multicast session performance. This paper proposes on the efficient reliable multicast mechanism in wireless networks utilizing the Agents. In this paper we show the design of a retransmission agent which improves the performance of reliable multicast sessions in wireless network. The main idea is to cache reliable multicast packets at the base station and perform local retransmissions across the wireless link. MATLAB has been used to simulate and to get performance results for signaling overhead and processing delay through the comparison of the proposed agent model to the Multicast File Transfer Protocol. It has been proven from the simulation results that the proxy module make pass trials shorter in Multicast File Transfer Protocol.

A Power-Efficient MAC Protocol for WBAN

  • A key challenge for Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) is to maximize the network lifetime with power-efficient and flexible duty cycling techniques on energy-constraint sensor nodes. In this paper, we propose a novel power-efficient MAC protocol for WBAN that accommodates normal, emergency, and on-demand traffic in a reliable manner. This protocol supports two wakeup mechanisms, a traffic-based wakeup mechanism, which accommodates normal traffic by exploiting the node's traffic patterns, and a wakeup radio mechanism, which accommodates emergency and on-demand traffic by using a wakeup radio. It can be seen that the proposed protocol not only improves the lifetime of WBAN but also provides a reliable method to handle sporadic events. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol outperforms WiseMAC in terms of low-power consumption and delay.

Multipath and Multipriority based Routing Protocol for Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (무선 멀티미디어 센서 네트워크에서 다중 경로와 다중 우선순위 기반의 라우팅 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we present a new routing protocol, multipath and multi-priority based routing protocol, (MMRP) for wireless multimedia sensor networks. The proposed MMRP chooses the multiple routing paths from source to the sink, then the selected paths are assigned with different priority levels depending upon the residual energy and transmission delay in the routing paths. That is, the highly prioritized I frames of the MPEG video are transmitted over the high priority routing paths, and other P and B frames are transmitted over the lower priority routing paths. The proposed MMRP protocol can be applied to time critical applications which require both lower latency and low power consumption over wireless multimedia sensor network. Simulations results of MMRP protocol show respectively an improvement of 23.48% and 23.11% in energy conservation and 81.6% and 32.01% improvement in latency as compared to protocols without and with multipath routing.

  • This study aims to develop the Vehicle Local Dynamic Map (V-LDM) and demonstrate its performance for providing dynamic map data efficiently to the vehicle control module. Firstly, the concept of the in-vehicle LDM has been established and then the system has been carefully designed according to the international standards. The high-precision digital map embedded in LDM has been designed to incorporate the lane-level information of road network, and the Dynamic Map protocol (DM protocol) which is a message protocol including the road data with dynamic traffic event data has been defined. The performance test of the proposed system has been conducted in the uninterrupted road section of Kyungbu expressway, showing that both of the data size and the elapsed time to finish the process are almost linearly proportional to the length of target road. Finally, it is recommended that the length of target road for DM protocol be less than 250m.
