This study attempts to examine and to analyze the characteristics of transparent materials and its methods to apply in space. the ability to see through a physical element, whether it is clear glass, sandblasted acrylic, or a delicate fabric, can have a dramatic and sensory effect on the overall perception of a space. The various range of Transparent materials and product in glass, plastic, fabric, and grid now gives us the potential to maximize the flow of light in our enclosed space. This research will explore how transparent, translucent, and semi-opaque elements can be used within the interior with full range of see-through materials. The transparent materials can be divided in two level - as structural elements and as stylish accessories. A glass partition or floor, metal mesh stairs can create divisions or link one space to another while maintaining effective levels of natural light. there is also various level of products from glass chair to basin. With the enthusiasm for using transparent materials, transparent materials will be more decorative and powerful application while still maximize the highest possible flow of light.

A transparent plasma display was developed using transparent glass barrier ribs. Glass barrier ribs were fabricated via a wet etching process. Glass barrier ribs created using a top and bottom etching process showed better transparency compared to those created through only a top etching process. A see-through phosphor layer was obtained by coating the sidewall of the barrier ribs with a conventional opaque phosphor. A fabricated prototype of a transparent plasma display was clear enough to see the background beyond the panel and was well operated by a conventional driving scheme. The maximum luminance was 1150 cd/$m^2$ and the maximum luminous efficacy was 1.35 lm/W in a Ne+13.5%Xe gas-mixture and green cells.

To fabricate mono layer green sheet (MLGS) of transparent dielectric for PDP front panel, dispersion of transparent dielectric slurry and various properties of green sheets were examined as a function of amount and kinds of organic additives. Sedimentation height and viscosity of slurry were measured to determine proper types and amount of dispersant in non-aqueous system transparent dielectric slurry. Many MLGS having various ratios of the transparent dielectric glass frit, binder and plasticizer were fabricated. Finally we got the transparent dielectric layer of high transparency and free from residual pore might be remained in the gap between the electrodes.
The basic characteristics of glass are highly fragile and brittle consequences the ultimate purpose of glass manufacturing is to make a transparent glass with complex shape. In order to solve this problem, mechanical properties of glass can be increased by crystallization of its amorphous glass. However, glass-ceramics has become opaque through crystallization process due to the distracted interface of glass by precipitated particles. This study has been investigated thermal processing conditions of LAS transparent glass-ceramic by using DTA (differential thermal analysis), in order to control size of precipitated particle and then fabricate transparent glass-ceramic. DTA indicated that crystallization peak area was declined with increased nucleation temperature. Subsequently, we have been established optimum temperature for crystallization depending on the nucleation temperature. The transmission and thermal expansion were measured after crystallization, and the size of precipitated particle was identified in range of 20~100 nm by FE-SEM. In addition, by setting the optimized crystallization condition, with high transmission and low thermal expansion glass was synthesized through this experiment.
This paper tests the feasibility of using the transparent electrode as the electrode of the capacitor in order to use the vehicle glass of the electric vehicle for a capacitive coupling wireless transfer (CCWPT). Large coupling capacitance can be obtained due to large area and high permittivity using the glasses of an electric vehicle. However, if an electrode is formed on a metal such as copper, then a view cannot be guaranteed and a transparent electrode can pose a solution. Therefore, the coupling capacitor is implemented by forming a glass dielectric with an ITO transparent electrode on one side through a semiconductor deposition process. The loss of the coupling capacitor is investigated, and a 200 W CCWPT prototype is fabricated and tested for its characteristics and power transfer.
The structural and optical properties of Ni-doped transparent glass-ceramics are reviewed. The quantum efficiencies of ceramics were examined to explore suitable crystalline phase for Ni-doping in glass-ceramics. Inverse spinel $LiGa_5O_8$ have the quantum efficiency of almost 100 % at room temperature. Transparent glass ceramics containing $LiGa_5O_8$ was successfully synthesized by heat treatment of $Li_2O-Ga_2-O_3-SiO_2-NiO$ glass. Most of $Ni^{2+}$ ions in glass-ceramic were incorporated into $LiGa_5O_8$ nanocrystals. The near-infrared emission covering from the O-band to L-band (1260-1625 nm) was observed from the Ni-doped $Li_2O-Ga_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass-ceramic though it was not observed from the as-cast glass. The lifetime of the emission was about $580\;{\mu}sec$ even at 300K. The emission quantum efficiency was evaluated as about 10 % that is enough high for practical usage as gain media of optical fiber amplifiers. The figure of merit (the product of the stimulated emission cross section and lifetime) was as high as that of rare-earth-doped glasses. The broad bandwidth, high quantum efficiency and high figure of merit show that transparent glass-ceramics containing $Ni^{2+}:LiGa_5O_8$ nanocrystals are promising candidates as novel ultra-broadband gain media.
In this study, we analyze the electrical optical characteristics of transparent glass for photovoltaic and glass-glass module application. The elemental facts from raw glass to laminated glass with solar cells are analyzed using UV spectrophotometer and spectroradiometer. From the data of transmittance and reflectance, the optimum PV module processing condition and selection of material for fabrication should be considered deeply for obtaining high module efficiency. Also we introduce two glasses which has 2%$\sim$4% higher transmittance using coating technology with anti-reflection material. From this experiment, we try to give some basic information for PV module manufacturing industry. The detail description is specified as the following paper.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the electrical performance characteristics of semi-transparent BIPV modules. This study dealt with four different types of semi-transparent PV modules depending on the backside glass material, such as clear glass, bronze glass, reflecting glass and low-e glass. The monitoring data shows that the PV module temperature and solar radiation were closely related to the electrical performance of the modules.
CaO and ZnO were added to Al2O3-SiO2 binary system respectively as flux, then ZrO2 and TiO2 were applied as nucleating agent to these CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 and ZnO-Al2O3-SiO2 ternary system glass. The transparency could not be kept in CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 system glass, whereas the transparent glass-ceramics were prepared in ZnO-Al2O3-SiO2 system glass containing ZrO2 as the nucleating agent. At this time the optimum heating temperatures for the nucleation and the crystal growth were 78$0^{\circ}C$ and 97$0^{\circ}C$. The sizes of the precipitated crystals in the transparent glass-ceramics were below 0.1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and their light transmissibilities were more than 80%.
The major advantage of transparent materials over traditional materials in noise barriers is aesthetics. The transparent panel materials such as clear plastic or glass are an ideal way of reducing or virtually eliminating the visual impact of a noise barrier. With the use of transparent materials, the drivers' view of the roadside and the sunlight penetration to the highway would not be blocked. With the use of transparent materials, the highway and barrier appear less imposing. Korean Industrial Standards for soundproof panels have been established. But, transparent soundproof panels are not included in this standards. And, some specifications provide only a few basic characteristics for transparent soundproof panels. To develop guidelines on quality criteria for transparent soundproof panel, their mechanical properties such as wind load resistance, safety under impact, and abrasion resistance were experimentally investigated.
