In this study, the dynamic absorbing system for gas operated gun has been investigated. For this purpose, firstly. mathematical model of gas-operated shoulder-fired gun has been constructed. Through a series of experimental works using the devised test setup, the characteristic behavior of mathematical model was compared to the test results. In order to design the dynamic absorbing system, parameter optimization process has been performed based on the simplified isolation system under constraints of moving displacement and transmitted force. In order to implement the more efficient dynamic absorbing system, the characteristic performance of stroke-dependent variable damping system has been analyzed with some opening area curves. Finally, the performance of the designed dynamic absorbing system has been evaluated by simulation and experiment using the previous test apparatus.

In this study, the isolation system for multi-mechanism HIF (high impulsive force) device has been investigated. For this purpose, parameter optimization process has been performed based on the simplified isolation system model under constraints of moving displacement and transmitted force. The design parameters for multi-mechanism HIF device have been derived with respect to HIF system I and HIF system II, respectively. In order to implement the dynamic absorbing system, the dual stage hydro-pneumatic damper and magnetorheological damper with semi-active control scheme are considered. Finally, the performance of the designed prototype isolation system has been evaluated by experimental works under actual operating conditions.

In this study, the design procedure of hybrid active mount by an electro-magnetic actuator is proposed to reduce the transmitted force from naval shipboard equipment to ship hull structure. The hybrid type mount which is composed of a passive rubber element and an electro-magnetic actuator is introduced and, through the vibration measurement for the objective pump system, the required force of the actuator is computed and discussed in detail. The initial designs were supposed for three types, one is moving coil type actuator and the others are moving permanent magnet type actuators. Based on the initial design concept, the final designs considering shock resistance and interference with mover and stator are proposed and examined.

In this study, 50 ABE-type hard hats were procured from five certified commercial manufacturers, and shock absorption tests were conducted in accordance with Protective Equipment Safety Certification Notice No. 2020-35. The tests were performed under both high- and low-temperature conditions, adhering to safety helmet testing standards. The highest shock transmission ranges were recorded in the tests, with an average energy range of 2,600-4,108 N at high temperatures and 2,316-3,991 N at low temperatures. All five hard hat models demonstrated a maximum transmitted impact force below 4,450 N, without any loss of cap and attachment functionality, confirming their compliance with performance standards. Furthermore, we evaluated the side impact performance of the safety helmets of each company, with an average range of 4,722-5,267 N. Company A exhibited the lowest measurement at 4,722 N. Comparing these results with international safety standards and the national shock absorption test criteria, it was observed that the maximum transmitted shock value using government-specified impact weight falls within the range of 4,450-5,000 N. However, it was noted that developed countries have established specific standards for the side impact forces on safety helmets, which are legally mandated. Consequently, it is imperative for South Korea to enhance its safety helmet side impact performance test methodology to align with domestic standards in the future.

The paper discusses the potential of nanomaterials in revolutionizing basketball equipment by applying them to advance padding and shock absorption technologies in order to bring more control and comfort to the players. Nanotechnology devised new solutions for the challenges that the players are exposed to by dealing with issues such as better control reducing shock to the hands and wrists during those most decisive periods of every game: dribbling, passing, and catching. This work embeds nanomaterials in basketballs to understand their efficacy in reducing the amount of force transmitted to players, thereby reducing the risk of injuries and fatigue. The research gives an in-depth look into the structural properties and performance benefits of nanomaterial-enhanced padding in balls for optimized comfort and control to players and improvement in the dynamics of gameplay. The future of nanotechnology in the design of basketball equipment finds further bases in an in-depth analysis and is experimentally validated with respect to the prospects of a ball that is safer, long-lasting, and with improved performance.

The leaf spring for a truck absorbs shocks or vibrations from the road surface while driving with the elastic force of the material and prevents the shock from being transmitted to the vehicle body. It is subjected to cyclic stress, and fatigue fracture occurs frequently. This study analyzes fractured leaf spring from a 25 ton truck that has been operating for about a year. In the fractured portion, which is the origin of crack, inclusions were observed, and fatigue failure was caused by cyclic stress. In the stress calculation and FE analysis, the stress at the center of the leaf spring was obtained to be 54~65% of the yield strength of the base material and damaged material. It is most important to prevent the mixing of impurities in the steel manufacturing for leaf springs. The large stress portion of the leaf spring needs to introduce compressive residual stress by peening etc.
Purpose : This study shows the movements of the ankle and the foot in walking stages, and helps to diagnose and treat the problems of the ankle and the foot. The foot in human is a mean of the transportation, body support, and shock absorber. However, the slightest changes in the anatomical position can cause a significant increase of the stress and force in the ankle and the foot. The regular compressive force in the ankle of the normal person is generated by the contraction of the gastrocnemius and popliteus muscles, and transmitted to the achilles tendon. The plantar flexion about 10 degrees occurs immediately after the heel strike, getting ready for the weight acceptance. The shear force about 80 % of the body weight is generated immediately after the heel off of the mid stance phase. In those who have a problem in the ankle, the compression force at the ankle decreased to 1/3 of the body weight, and the shear force decreased, and the compressive force was reached at their maximum level earlier than the normal people. Conclusion : Analysis of the movements at the ankle and the foot in walking phase can make the effort to diagnose and treat the ankle and foot with the problems. However, the further study is necessary.
This study was aimed to minimized the impact force and vibration transmitted to transporting agricultural product from the power tiller trailer by installing vibration absorption device. The vibration absorbable trailer (I) mounted with leaf spring suspension and shock absorber was developed and compared on vibration absorption performance with the existing trailer (E) equipped no vibration absorption device. In order to identify the vibration absorption effect of the trailer developed in this study, the vibration accelerations, occurred during driving on paved road with loading 360 kg of pear, were measured and analyzed using FFT analyzer. The magnitude of average vibration acceleration was decreased highly for the improved trailer mounted with vibration absorption device in comparing with existing trailer in the frequency range under 60 Hz and under 80 Hz. And similar vibration absorption effect was represented for the improved trailer in all frequency range. Especially, in the frequency range between 40 Hz and 80 Hz, the magnitude of vibration acceleration for the improved trailer was decreased with 1/3 times in comparing with existing trailer. So, the transporting loss including damage of agricultural product could be decreased highly by using the improved vibration absorbable trailer mounted with leaf spring suspension and shock absorber simultaneously, designed in this study.
The landing gear of an aircraft is a device that absorbs and dissipates shock energy transmitted from the ground to the fuselage. Among the landing gears, the semi-active MR damper landing gear is supposed to show high-shock absorption efficiency under various landing conditions and secure the stability when out of control. In the case of the MR damper landing gear using an annular channel rather than orifice, Amesim, a commercial multi-physics program, is considered as more useful than the conventional two-degree-of-freedom model because the damping force generated by the pressure drop through the flow annular path can cause cavitation in the low-pressure chamber of the MR damper with a specific internal structure. In this paper, the main dynamic characteristics of the MR damper landing gear with an annular type flow path structure has been analyzed under the condition of cavitation. Based on the analysis results using Amesim, a design guideline for the MR damper flow path that prevents cavitation has been proposed based on the modification of the arrangement of internal components of the damper. The guideline was verified through a drop simulation.
